this song along with a segment with the song "nobody wants a thneed", and more time spent on the onceler BEFORE he "had that heartfelt moment with the dead trees" would've made the movie much closer to the book, and Dr Seuss's original message. But decisions like these were made by Illumination, the producers, because they didn't want to be exposed.
I wish they used this song in the movie, it presents the message more clearly than hiw bad can i be, and also it shows that the lorax is actively trying to help the oncelor stop being greedy, and has a more serious tone While how bad can i be sounds more comical and not serious
@@squidcast4286 A lot of people have said this, but I feel having most of HBCIB up until he starts going full corrupt businessman be a song, and then having Biggering play after it at some point would be the best option. Not only do both songs get to be in the movie, it makes call backs, and shows both angles of his self-justification and then him eventually embracing his pride and greed.
The fact that the Lorax could have been a dark and mature rock opera that took a nuanced and deep look into corporate greed but instead got washed squeaky pg clean by a greedy corporation makes me so fucking pissed. Makes me wish we were in a different timeline where an indie animation team were given the rights with some talented musicians and artists to boot
That's the interesting part. There's good and bad things about indie animation with less budget, and multimillion-dollar animation from big corporation. In a way, you can appreciate the Lorax we got in pained amusement for the irony of it. Since we're on the topic of the concepts it preached, it was an exact product of what it was trying not to become, a bad ending of some sorts.
@Mishapnth I would absolutely love and support an indie project of The Lorax, as Dr. Seuss intended with his original book. I'm not sure if it's possible though, because you'd have to get explicit permission from Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P., and seeing how their work was skinned and butchered by Illuminations, I'm not sure if they'd be interested.
Biggering could have been so great if they progressively made him more of the chairbound monster from the original cartoon. Then Lorax meets him before the environment gets fully screwed up and gets a look at what he's become and lets out "Who even _are_ you anymore?" to really hammer home the point that his justifications have made him inhuman.
Yeah but illuminations is dumb and don't want people to see them like that cuz they're a corporation too and they want people to see them as the nice guy that... Like the movie one
But that’s the thing: the Once-ler IS human. And somehow, not seeing him helps that. He could be anyone; you, me, literally anyone. He’s not a monster. That muddles the message.
If he started out as relatable, but became increasingly greedy and self-absorbed over time to the point that he was casting aside his carnage, it would have worked so much better.
@@nicholasmahoney7820 I disagree since I think him just being this normal guy who later matures and regrets his shitty actions he did because he was blinded with proving himself to be competent to others and to himself is arguably more relatable than the original Once-ler who, even as a kid, I always painted as a faceless bad guy who was hellbent on making the most money, while the Once-ler in the 2012 movie had much more depth as a character. I guess to compromise in disagreeing with you, I think both characters could be viewed in a "this is an effective way to get a message across to the viewers" way depending on how we view them. He sounds like a real villain with no remorse and realized that the things he does is bad but still does it and the movie one he's a guy who didn't know that he's hurting the environment so it kinda Potrays him as an innocent guy that didn't know anything so he's not really a bad guy In conclusion someone should animate this music video
Im actually so mad that this didn't make it into the movie, it would have presented the onceler as someone who was actually aware of what he was doing, and would have presented him a lot differently. Imagine how much better the movie could have been as well as the animation to go with this song.
This vid is so underrated! The editing is smooth, and most scenes are in perfect coordination with the music, although some minor discords exist (the scene where the Onceler pets the bear and gives a coin before the media is slightly out of place with the mood of the chorus "biggering is triggering more biggering"). Still, it is waaaaaay better than any other Biggering vids which horribly mismatch the scenes and the song. You really got the pacing and the mood changes right, great job!

Anyways, I'll stop rambling now, but here's to your future growth and success! :)
I personally like HBCIB because it simply hides the fact the onceler is a dangerous man with the upbeat tune. I especially like the backing vocals in that song (that say buy, trade, sell, squash, etc.) However, I really love the lyrics in this one. Here’s my own wee idea for a Lorax music video. We open on the guitar riff and see the Onceler from a distance, standing on some form of balcony. As the riff continues, we slowly but steadily begin to zoom in on him. He is wearing his green coat and sunglasses from the movie, leaning on the railing, contemplating something out of our view. Then the lyrics kick in. With the first, we cut to his gloved hand, stroking the top of a gold topped cane. Then for the second lyric, we cut to a flashback image of the outside of the Onceller’s cottage, and cut back to the Onceller. For the third lyric, we cut to a flashback of a young Onceller inside his cottage, sat on a rocking chair, knitting a thneed. Then we cut back as he tightens his grip on his cane and turns to walk through double doors into his factory, accompanied by “Now I’ve had a little time to reassess my needs.” I’ll do the rest later. It’s long.
