Why people overlook Keiichi for Rika, Mion, Shion and Rena most of the times? Kei is my favorite character in the entire Higurashi franchise, he's really someone you can only look up at, even I look up at him and I usually don't do it with any kind of characters.

Keichi isn’t as appreciated as the others because his character, in comparison to the others, is quite generic. Don’t get me wrong, he IS a great character, but he has a generic appearance, the genki personality that most shounen protagonists have and compared to someone like Rika, he's 'boring', most teens wouldn’t like him as much as say Rika. I myself didn’t like him a lot when I was younger, but listening again to his Dear You song, it’s quickly become one of my favourite versions.
I can't get 15 seconds in without grinning like an idiot at the coming epic emotional music about to kick in. Other than Bonds, I consider this the culmination of all the Dear Yous/songs that use the same time.

Here it goes: Everyone in the village has a mental illness named "Hinamisawa Syndrome". This illness has 5 stages: 1(harmless-almost everyone is in this stage)- 5(extreme paranoia and halluciations, itchy throat... etc.) This illness can 'level up' if the person gets too far away from the queen carrier (Rika) or is under too much stress. Every character went crazy because of this. Yeah, this is about it. Hope I helped^^
Technically Keiichi doesn't sing this to anyone... its just a song, not like it happens in the anime or manga, lol. Still though let people pair who they want, there isn't any true pairing in higurashi anyway, other than maybe Shion and Satoshi, but I wouldn't even count that one as they're not together.
