Great lecture by a consummate scholar. Dr Gagnon was faithful to scripture, he did not take any scripture texts out of context.

So is wearing a bowtie an example of heterosexuality?

Dr. Gagnon, I read your book The Bible and Homosexual Practice (footnotes too). I must admit that I really enjoyed it. You did an exceptional job of gathering various resources and compiling them into one concise piece. However, I was incredibly disappointed in how poorly you “connected the dots”. The conclusions you draw are often a far stretch from the facts you gathered. In your enthusiasm to prove your thesis you take Scripture out of context. Although you gathered many ancient texts, you still lacked a thoroughness in research - this is appalling! I would hire you as a junior researcher, but since I insist on integrity for any theological topic, I cannot use anything in your book beyond the resources you gathered. You can do better!

Don't bother with Gagnon. He uses scripture to push his own views and prejudices. If he really cared about homosexuals he would reach out to them directly and minister to them himself rather than spend his time giving talks and lectures. His whole attitude is also always very self righteous. He never demonstrates any real compassion or empathy to same sex attracted people.

@@miguelbayne4506 yes. It is very disturbing to see how unchrist-like he is in his approach to the LGBTQ community! (He did however remain calm in this TH-cam presentation. A pleasant surprise.) If he's going to hold himself out to be a biblical scholar then he has a long way to go when it comes to comprehensive research and poise. He may have a PhD, but all that education and he still lacks wisdom.

@@miguelbayne4506 when I forcefully knock the glass of water laced with arsenic from your hands, as opposed to compassionately watching as you draw it closer to your lips - that's love. Warning people about their approach to eternal torment is done with urgency and matter of factly, not gently and by beating around the bush. Hopefully you will turn before you end up in that place after you die, but if you don't you will spend the first 300 million years thinking of how you were warned and how you are no closer to getting out of that torment than when you first got in.
