To be honest, I think the box might not be original (not from same tube). I could see the tube name was manually hand written. During that time, Western Electric has white-blue cartoon box as well.

From what I understand the 1950's 300b where for their theater amps . Rather than for telephone use at that point.

So I read somewhere that they used 300B's as repeaters in undersea enclosures for transatlantic comunication lines of some sort. On the ocean floor.
