    Finally a man that knows how to use a snowblower. Always start down the middle of your driveway.

    Toro CCR 2400 GTS. Bought it in 1998. Haven't changed the paddles or belt yet. I did change the carb to an all brass one. I run Amsoil 100:1 synthetic. My wheel fell off because the friction fit cap came off from the force of turning after 18 years. I finished the 5 car driveway+EOD on 1 wheel no problem. Drilled the shaft with a titanium bit, put the wheel back on, placed a thin washer, inserted a nail and bent it like an "s".
    Best thing I have ever purchased.

    I just recently replaced the paddles and scarper with new parts. When I clear my drive and walks I also clear three, and sometimes four, of my neighbor's snow. I used the re-positioned paddles for nearly 2 years, and intend to do the same in a couple of years when the paddles are again worn. I can't say I get double the normal life out of a set of paddles but it's close to it.

      bripro68 First guy that I've seen that actually keeps his car in the garage instead of piles of junk, usually in these videos the driveway is loaded with snow covered cars and you watch someone negotiate an obstacle course because the garage is packed with crap, it is my main pet peeve because I've never had a garage to do projects in work on my cars or somebody else's I like to help people with my mechanical knowledge and of course some organized storage, I have a friend with a huge 5 bedroom 3 bath house a two car garage and the last time a car was in it was when he first moved in 17 years ago he is a hoarder and it is completely packed with junk, I started loaning him a snowblower so he could his driveway and 150 feet of sidewalk but I have to store it in my shed off season because it would spend the summer outside, he barley made enough room in the garage at my insistence for the couple of months he had it, even then he piled stuff on top of it until he needed to use it.

    Ken, it's THROW a little snow my friend! You have a thrower, not a blower! LOL!
    Just some friendly fyi Sir!
    One question for you though Sir. I see you threw the snow out onto the road at the end of your driveway. My question is, does your town or city allow you to do that? I'm in Ontario Canada, so not knowing where you are, I can say, we can be fined up here for doing that. In such minimal amounts of snow, I find it trivial, but I do see that some folks may not have the common sense to not do that when there is 2ft of snow. It would definitely make it a driving hazard. But up here, no matter the depth, be it 2" or 2ft, are bylaw officers strictly enforce that bylaw. So that was why I was wondering Sir!
    Happy Holidays & thank you for this helpful cash saver tip! Yes I watched both your videos!
    Much appreciated!

    on 2/2/2015 i bought that same snow blower - the first snow in lorain ohio this year it would not throW 3' - so dealer picked it up - $240 later they put new paddles & scraper on - now waiting for another snow - MERRY CHRISTMAS

    • @kbittell
      @kbittell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you buy it new in 2015? I don't understand why the dealer had to replace the paddles and scraper.
      Wet snow is harder to blow than powdered snow, it's even more important to maintain minimum clearance.

    Yes, I agree with all the comments. The right way, most efficient way to snow blow. Start in the middle to out. I didn't think I was that smart for figuring it out, but most of these videos are ridiculous. I'd be scared to see how they shovel.

    Re positioned the paddles? I bought this Toro 421 power clear recently (shown here). The first run and the auger cable broke away from the clutch. The wheels are the same size as those on my Weber kettle grill. These things are so cheaply made it's ridiculous. Good thing Home Depot picked it up and refunded me.

    • @kbittell
      @kbittell  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I purchased the Toro 421 shown in this video in 2009. Other than two manufacturer’s recalls on the carburetor I’ve found the 421 to be durable and up to the task of moving snow. After two recalls the manufacturer got the problem with the carburetor corrected.
      I take it; the cable for the belt tension-er is what failed on your machine. I have not replaced any cables on my machine.
      I purchased my Toro in the box, believing I would be more meticulous with the setup than the average setup mechanic. Proper positioning and alignment of all cables is essential for long life of the cables.
      Since the wheels are not actually drive wheels I would suggest to Toro maybe a smooth wheel would be better than one with a tread pattern. Snow packs in the tread pattern leading one to believe the wheels are square.

    • @miltonvoight3374
      @miltonvoight3374 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply Ken. I too had it delivered in the box. The screws provided for the chute were almost too short but I was finally able to assemble it. The cable came away from the clutch inside the unit and I was unable to ascertain where or how to hook it back up. I am looking again and am liking this new Briggs and Stratton SnowShred Serrated Auger with remote chute control and electric start for the same price as the Toro www.homedepot.com/p/Briggs-Stratton-22-in-205cc-Single-Stage-Electric-Start-Gas-Snow-Blower-with-Snow-Shredder-Auger-1696506/300434295

    • @kbittell
      @kbittell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it will blow the wet stuff too. Setting the paddles for minimum clearance to the housing will increase the speed of the snow through the discharge shut, eliminating clogging. You will think you doubled the horsepower of your snow blower.
