Bro it’s just due to o2 sensor and header piper if you change these 2 the sound will vanish but that’s waste of money as it will occur again with a new one …. This is because ktm is a high compression single cylinder engine and due it this exhaust header pipe gets thermal expansion and when u wash it gets to cool down too fast due to which internal of exhaust header pipe gets damaged and o2 sensor will create that noise so even if you change these two things again it will occur after some thousand kms It’s normal just be aware that the sound shouldn’t be crystal clear from right side of the bike it should be just from left side crystal clear that’s the way to check that it’s not the head sound … Apart from that shims do make sound on thermal expansion as I said earlier that it’s a high compression single cylinder engine so that would again be normal… Extra note : a bit of loose exhaust shim clearance is better than too tight 😇
how did you get that info my duke 125 makes that sound very clearly from left side, sarched info and anybody knows anything about this, all they say, cam tensioner, cam chain, valve adjust, my bike has 24,500km did a repair at 22k bc a valve dropped into the cylinder, i have done valve clearence, valve change, shims, springs, head work, valve seats work, my mechanic said it was all good, im a mechanic student did my own resarch and all the engine is good, internals, no piston slack no chain slack, gears in perfect shape, changed stator etc so many things and the bike still have that sound. help pls
Same issue... I had shown to service center but the mechanic said it was normal.. Then one of my friend recommended me outer service station..the guy worked for 4 years in ktm so i was ok with it Then he said water pump seal is broken so coolant is mixing with engine oil.. And next he replaced cam shaft, timing chain, tensioner,water pump,oil,oil filter,air filter,coolant nothing worked.. He was convincing me that the sound was normal.. I didn't agree and had a argument..again they removed all the parts and did valve clearance and shim setting... Still nothing solved.. Ktm service wont solve this issue.. So i am too finding the solution for that I already paid 6900 for the spares and 900 for labour charge I costed me 7800rs If u find any solution please let me know😪
it's been six years of my rc390 , the amount of money iv'e spent on the repairs of my bike costed me more than the bike , freaking 7 times engine have been repaired but still iv'e got issues with the engine and not lasting even a year , frustrated with the showrooms repair service even tried the local services , nothing's changed , my bike's done 56k km's ... still searching for a knowledgeable mechanic of trust to get the engine build done for the last fucking time or else i'll build it myself through the help of engine build book guides , whether it takes me months or year , these days you can't trust anyone because of the previous experiences ....

This is normal ..every car & bike manufacturing companies sells their cars & bikes after doing so much research and development in their engines so no need to take stress…i hv d250 bs4 2018 model…same sound occurs in my bike also and after a long run the sound increases a little bit …not a single problem in my bike till now..completed 5years with my bike…u just need to do services on time and ride safe😄🏍️
Yes it’s the problem with the shitty KTM engines. Will never buy a KTM product in my life. Even tough they are great in terms of power and acceleration but in the reliability wise they simply sucks👎🏻👎🏻
Yes this is normal being a 390 bs4 owner i can say . Don’t worry sound occurs due to thermal expension or valve after heating clearance changes , you wouldn’t feel any performance issue. Only one thing u have to do every day before starting engine is . Check coolent level and engine oil level . Engine oil level should be adiquate no matter which engine oil it is . If bike will run on low oil pressure definitely you gonna face head issue. Currently i run my bike on two different oil mixed with each other …only experimenting bt its running fine motul 300v & castrol power1 ultimate…. 😅😅😅 because every time we change engine oil mixing happens & i suggest u to do not use engine flush . Change oil for every 4000 km u will be fine .
Yes showed the bike to the service engineer at the ktm service center he told that the 250’s and 390’s have this type of minor shim sounds and thats normal for such higher cc engines. And for such minor noises if they open the head that would lead to other strange problems which is not at all recomended.
@@saideepak2209 yes tappets are very easy to adjust in that case their is no need to open camshaft,bt in dohc like ktm ,,u have to open cam shafts ,timing chain ,etc and shims are very complex to adjust ,that should be measured from vernier caliper ,then valve clearence with old shim should be measure first according to that u have to select correct shim size bla bla ,..... Ktm valve clearence shuld be like for eg. 2.45mm to 2.85mm means that should be between any point of specific no's. So that doesn't gonna create any problem rather than sound ...there is no compression leak ...so dont worry.
