I've not had the opportunity to try an M45 David, so I know nothing there regrettably. Overdrives I've always regarded as a specialist area, and we simply send them to Dave at Overdrive Spares, who can also uprate them with stronger clutch lining and winding up the oil pressure a touch - both of which the D-Type needs, but J- & P-Types don't.
Hi amazon cars. What happened to your rebuild video for the m40. I watched it once and it seemed to be about the only good video on how to do it. I do hope it is still up.

Not particularly common, it's more often the tailseal. However there are two important seals on the speedo drive: there's the tophat seal between the cable "nut" and the threaded post; then there's also an O-ring on that fitting that holds the cog itself. Sorry, not an excellent description, but the parts diagram illustrates it nicely - send me an email if you want a picture. Rob
That needs the correct puller,: since we've only needed to do it once in 18y we get our local machinists to extract that pin from the rear of the 'box - so I haven't got a picture of the tool for you (sorry). Rob
@@amazoncars he says hes got one on his "epa" which is a type of car you can drive in sweden from age 15 but due to the special rules, they need to go max 10 kmh on 2/3 of the max rpm on the first gear so you use 2 gearboxes that are linked together, most often Volvo M47- M40
@@andypetersen4282 Hey Andy, "4.0" doesn't make sense to me: the automatics had 3.8 but I think they had a special diff carrier. The usual fit for M40 cruising would be 4.10, and for sport fit the 4.56 or possibly 4.30 Rob
Excellent video! Do you have any on the m45 and overdrive rebuilds

I was wondering if some videos were removed? couldn't find the other videos I watched before. Removing m40 gbox, replacing diff seals, etc., cheers

Is the m30 the same size as the m40 or are there any differences? The outside of the gearbox ofcourse.
Hi, the answer is no. They are identical sizewise.
How do you take off the reverse gear ?
