You know Ayoade is funny when he can make even Mel B laugh
Apparently, this was the first indication for some people, that Mel B was humourless and self-centred. Totally understandable, being her first public appearance.
When i worked with people with autism they required multiple social settings so they can use them as contrast to get to know someone as using body language and tone of voice isnt in their skill set
It couldn't have been easy with her husband smacking her around pretty bad, covering up a lot of bruises, and having O/D trying to commit suicide not long before this show.

So many comments on here critical of Mel B. She's a singer with no comedy experience on a show in the context of 6 professional stand-up comedians at the pinnacle of their careers, of course she is not going to look funny compared to them.

Interestingly when I stopped taking oxycontin and morphine along term after different surgeries it was from putting my entire attention into games on my laptop that allowed me to do it, its actually a good way to cure addiction/clean up

Why?
She’s an ill tempered old diva, if you watch the full episode watch her reactions to pretty much everything.
She was literally acting like that stupid bitch in 9th grade who had to put everyone else down all the time, like shut up Karen just because you didn't find something funny doesn't mean you should bully peoples opinion, the world doesn't revolve around you

She definitely behaved as though this was a contractual obligation in which she had no desire to participate.
Mel B made this episode for me. She was so uncomfortable and the others just didn’t care. Simply brilliant. She kept setting herself up to be the butt of the joke.

That was *never* anywhere close to a typical age for pregnancy. While I am sure there have been isolated instances throughout history, it has never been a significant percentage. Let alone a percentage large enough to significantly impact the average!
And all of that is not even mentioning that your use of the term "average" implies that there would have been *prepubescent* girls having children. So I'll just assume you mean that it wasn't as unusual, which it most certainly was!

30 years ago is the 1990s, at which time the average age for first pregnancy was late twenties. It's not been lower than the mid twenties (in the UK) for all of the 20th century.
Even in the medieval period, the average age of childbirth was still in the twenties, with some women having children in their late teens. There was a practice of arranged marriages happening with 10-16 year olds, but that was mostly for noble families (not commoners) and those girls weren't expected to carry children until significantly older.

I don't really understand the hate. She's not really being "mean", she's just clearly out of her element and is probably aware that she can't measure up comedically with everyone else so she plays the only role-dynamic that she knows in this situation: the straight man to all the comics. Mickey seems to be making light of it as much as possible but he doesn't look too miserable?
Watch the start again. The part where she has that way too long discussion about the team name. That's not getting the joke. Now, imagine that for the full episode. A straight man sets things up. She continued after the fact, dragging everything out until everyone just gives up because it's not funny anymore. This is a 2 hour episode, with all the best bits in just under 12 minutes. That's how horrid she made that episode.
Even Richard can't save a show with Mel B(itch) on it. Dumb clunge. Poor Micky.

Wow. Have never seen Mel B in any other context apart from the spice girls. It is one thing to be painfully unfunny, it is another to actively shit on any humourous vibe that anyone else gets going. She is awful!
The laugh track on some of these shows is too loud and abrupt.
There’s an audience
Yes, there's an audience. You can't hear the audience for the most part because it's been modified. Listen to how loud and suddenly everyone laughs, then everyone stops *just* as the conversation starts again, then starts when they're finished their next line. Actual laughter tends to peter out instead of everyone stopping in the same half second, and often you'll hear only a few people laugh at something that's a bit obscure, then others will get it shortly afterward and laugh. It's a fucking pity too, because most of these guys (especially Carr and Mitchell) are a riot and the obnoxious fake laughter distracts from it. :p
