And the mould for the type of belty roles like Elphaba etc of today. Unfortunately nobody really has the same sparkle she had and solidity in both top and bottom of the voice like she did. Many are very, very good but she was really exceptional. And a fine actress. Everything totally committed from the heart, not just a big thrill to show off the voice.
We hired Laurie to be in our show band ''Carnival'' ..Sha was maybe 19 at the time..We knew she would be a star...She brought the house down everywhere we played.....Gone too soon...
Absolutely. Actually seeing Vosk for the first time in Wicked in 2018, I was brought right back to 1992 when I unexpectedly saw Laurie in Cats when she returned for a short time. Goosebumps. Once in a lifetime performer.
@@onnapnewo That's not David Cassidy, you know. That's Allen Fawcett. I know because he joined in June, 1982, then he and Laurie Beechman left in November and were replaced by Andy Gibb and Sharon Brown. Then Andy got sacked and replaced by David.
Great performance, but why did they put that awful blond wig on Joseph? Not only does it look bad, it makes no sense, since Joseph is an ancient Israelite and wouldn't have been blond (or white) anyway!

Laurie Beechman was the unmatched mould for this musical. She gave this musical the magic that noone could have provided.

No, they didn’t. The show opened on Broadway in 1982 with Bill Hutton as Joseph, but David Cassidy didn’t join the production until March of 1983.
