REResistance: Gave Away Your Only FAS? Valerie Jail For You!

- Trio queue with xTheAngelPrince- and GuyStronger150, where we happened to get xSleepy-Wolfx5 playing Tyrone as our random 4th both times. These were two matches against the same Annette, the first of which ended in a disastrous loss. But the second match ended up being an incredibly dramatic comeback for us!
In the first match, AngelPrince played Sam and Guy played Valerie, where I played January like usual. The first area seemed to have gone well, so in area 2, out of a general kindness, I decided to donate my one FAS to someone else, as I felt like we were handling ourselves well enough that I could afford to give it to someone more on the front lines. However, that ended up being a HUGE mistake! While we were trying to take out Yorick, the MM spawned Birkin and downed Wolf and Guy, and then downed me while I was trying to revive Guy by hand. Angel had managed to revive Wolf, who in turn, revived me, but although we got the rest of the terminals done, we had to enter area 3 with reduced time, as the clock reached overtime before any of us had reached the exit. I then tried my best to back up the team in area 3, but there were too many creatures to overcome, and we lost at the first core.
For the second match, while in the lobby, Guy chose Becca instead, and neither AngelPrince nor Wolf made any moves to take the Valerie mantle (with them having taken Martin and Tyrone respectively). So out of nervousness (and probably as punishment for giving away my FAS in the last match), I decided to switch from Jan at the last second to play Valerie instead, which I think ended up being a very good thing!
I run what I feel is considered the meta build on Valerie, with Lucky Charm 3, Smartwatch, and at least Mixtape 3 (I in fact run Mixtape 5 overall), so I did my best to emulate the good Valerie mains I know and hoover up as many credits and resources as possible. We began to run out of time by the end of area 1, but I made sure to heal the team as we made it to area 2, where we then fortunately found Yorick pretty quickly. I focused on grenades and other throwables, and then backed Wolf up as he pushed ahead to the terminals. When we got to area 3, I was sure to use my various grenades to the fullest extent and scan things for the team to take out.... but we barely got more than a few feet into the center courtyard before the MM threw in the towel and quit.
I do feel a little bad that the match in which we essentially beat the MM was the match where I was playing someone else instead of my main, January... but on the other hand, the comeback was incredibly satisfying :) And this was definitely my best Valerie match of the year!
:v In the first place, GuyStronger isn't the most compassionate or effective Valerie. I've blocked him in the past for making poor decisions in solo queue, and actually, I think I unblocked because AngelPrince had wanted to team up with him. I think I might've re-blocked though. Nothing personal of course, and not to say I'm the best Valerie either, but I distinctly remember him rubbing me the wrong way more than several times in solo, even as other players. 😂 That, combined with this MM who lags quite badly for me sometimes, made for a mess in the first match. That second match went well! :) Furiousvaleriecat! :D Nice work! I hate when MM's pu$$y out of giving the win to people, but then again, it makes them look bad and hands you the win at the same time. 🤪😁 GGs!
I mean, I'm sure everyone has blocked at least one person purely for bad gameplay decisions, or just for getting on their nerves and nothing more 😅I wouldn't be surprised if other people blocked me for the same general reasons too.
I'll admit, I was a little surprised at how poorly I thought Guy performed as Valerie here, because in my general solo queue experiences with him, he tends to do fairly okay with her. But in this first match, I'm not sure he put down his healing spray... at all 😮 In fairness, I'm sure he would've if I had been successful in actually reviving him, but it didn't work out that way. All I know for sure was that I was caught sorely off-guard in the first match, and I'm guessing most of my teammates were too. AngelPrince is fairly adept at Sam, and I knew Sleepy-Wolf is generally a great Tyrone, so I felt much more confident than I should've-- which was why I needlessly gave away my only FAS in the first place. Definitely the worst mistake of that whole match, right there :S
So I'm glad the second match ended up going so well! Idk how Val mains can pull such good credits on the regular, that's hard work that you do! But it turned around nicely for us, and on Bemusement to boot! And I guess the MM had enough of that. Too bad he couldn't take his turn taking the L :/

That first match really caught me off guard. I didn't expect area 2 to go so poorly, and I really regretted giving away my only first aid spray. But the second match was quite a comeback! The MM might've quit in area 3, but I'm glad with the progress we all made :)
