But the "Theres nothing wrong with the sounding better" crowd needs to understand that there was some magic in that gritty sound we enjoyed before. And were allowed to miss that and appreciate it when we get small clips of it.

Ann really felt gross to me because I felt it made a lot of their best songs ever written sound horrible. Sure, this was before it became West Virginia, but it's not like this came out a decade before they re-released it as West Virginia, and totally changed the mood of the song.

The og version of the songs may be rough in some parts, but at least they don't sound overproduced and flat. Yea, Going Grey was so disappointing and In Sickness & In Flames was nearly as bad.... They went from writing one of a kind, super catchy and surprisingly deep songs that sound like no other band, to.... well, trash with a hint here and there of what used to be. How does a band go from just about every song they ever wrote being good, to 2 albums of boring shit thats utterly forgettable?
