I've worked with feral pigeons and it was surprisingly easy to get them to like you at first they are cautious but as soon as you show them that you have food and you are quiet they'll instantly be cool with you
I used to have pigeons coming to my balcony every single day. My mom and i had a little nest for them even so they can hatch their eggs. We would always check up on them and they even let us pet their babies when they hatched! The mama pigeon was so kind, we even named their babies! After 1 year they stopped coming, i dont know what happened to em but i miss those littles fellas. Seeing them was the best part of my day. Pigeons are really sweet pets once you get to know them

I remember randomly meeting a brown pigeon. On my roof, and like the lil shyt I was super soakered it but it ended up flying down to me walking around me. Then I sat down and it jumped on my lap. Flew 1 block down then I called it and it came back. Moral of the story I can never hate these things after that. But no one believed that it happend
I believe it! City pigeons are feral (like a stray cat, dog, or pet would be called), not wild animals. Humans domesticated and bred them to be tame, bringing them into civilization before discarding them when they didn't have use for them anymore. It's the same reason that a wild dog can be tamed but a wild wolf can't (one was bred over thousands of years to be domesticated and lose some of its more 'wild' behaviours and the other wasn't).
Can confirm. I lived with my dad for a while and fed the local birds from the window sill. Even after months of me moving out and the birds not getting fed anymore, the pigeons still occasionally check in.
I use to feed costso pigeons some pizza. They are very trusting creatures and easy to tame. At least i beli e they are when i fed them. Got them to trust me eat the bread right off my fingers and a few would come to me to eat.
And one from my local park lets me do this. It’s so cute. He’s the only black and white pigeon there and every time he sees me he lands on my shoulder.
hi im having trouble befriending pigeons. Everyday 2 pigeons come to my balcony and hang out. They try to build a small nest with whatever they can find at a corner but my mom clears it everyday so it just visits instead. Whenever i open the balcony door they immediately fly away. I really want to tame these pigeons they come very often. If i slowly open the door they will be fine but if I make sudden movements or go too close to them they fly away. I don't know what to feed them but the closest i have at home are biscuits. Sunfeast company to be exact. I am planning to drop crumplets in the balcony and hope they eat them while I'm around or sit in the balcony and hold them in my hand like you did. I don't even know if they eat biscuits tho. Can you give me some advice on what to do to tame them?
@@detox_motivation. yea but my parents got a pigeon net in the balcony so they couldnt come anymore but i still go and put food every now and then at the window bedroom where they come
@@cyover4401 put some small flexible sticks every night near your window. Some pigeons will take those sticks for their nests. So you'll be like "Bob the builder" for pigeon home 😂❤ I'm hoping they still come around your home, right?
@@typoshivik well that was an year ago, but they made a nest with parts outside in my balcon and laid 2 eggs and they hatched and flew off too then we got a pigeon net so now they only come to the window someitmes i feed rice thats all

Ive done this countless times and my rescue pigeon will be so calm when I feed her that i get to pet her but when shes done she goes in to attack mode 😅😕.
You can do this with chicken too. Now everytime my chicken sees me coming home they all fly towards my direction and dropkick me. I almost lost an eye because one of my rooster has already grown his foot horns. And ever since he was a little chick I put him in my shoulders and now he is big he thinks he now owns my shoulder
I had a pigeon but i let it go since we were on vacation heres the story "so basically i caught a pigeon while on vacation and i taught it in a single day to sit on my finger and it worked one of the easiest birds to tame and the next few days it could sit on my finger while outside but dont attempt to take them outside if you arent 100% sure theyre tamed

Unfortunately, our pigeon friend was born mostly blind so we can't feed him this way, but we do sing to him, and he gets very excited about it.

It’s weird for me; I have no luck hand feeding pigeons, but I always end up taming them with a good ear and chin rub.
