    Most lithium batteries are constructed of individual cells inside the casing that are spot welded onto bars connecting them together, this is a major problem for rougher terrain as the individual cells can and do break away from the connecting bars (blame corrugations)
    I think this may be what happened to yours as I have seen another TH-camr post the same issue (different battery brand) while driving the Gibb.
    To prevent this the battery needs to be treated the same as a car battery being that it is in a cradle and has a locking bar to lock the battery securely in place to prevent vibrations (in cars this is mainly due to lead plate damage though)
    I have 12 x Itechworld 100AH batteries in my rig and no problems to date (9 months), but I did put down thick rubber matting (Kmart $20 kids playmats pack of 4) and then put rubber battery straps over the batteries to hold them down tight.

      12 batteries in your rig!?! That’s a lot! Thanks for your comment.

      I'm betting on a failed BMS. Most LifePo4 batteries use prismitic cells which are bolted and not welded. Cylindrical cells are a bad idea for mobile applications for the reasons which you've described. I've had a LifePo4 battery failed (prismatic cell design) which had the same symptoms as what was shown in this video and the issue was the BMS and not the cells. In any case any brand can experience an unexpected failure and I personally would be using 2 batteries in parallel for redundancy when doing a remote trip. Cheers

    Ive had one for 3yrs and done the gibb plus many others still works no problems. Mine is all black so the older model. Mine is mounted on marine carpet doubled over.

    I did a battery (different brand) doing the Gibb too. The corrugations are brutal and can damage anything. In the two weeks it took us we spoke to many people and we would compare stories about what the Gibb cost us in damages😂

    Need rubber under the battery to reduce the shock.

    Unfortunately I've had a few problems with Itechworld devices. And now a new problem with my 1300w power station. I know things go wrong but now have to send it back to Perth. They say 2 or 3 weeks to get it back. They have no service centres anywhere to help. I'm in Sydney. But I have the 300w power station as well have had no problems with. It's very handy

    Awesome to hear you guys are enjoying yourselves despite the battery issues! Fingers crossed itech world come to the party..
    Just depends on whether or not you now have the confidence in their products to see you through to the end of your trip!

      Thanks guys, we’ll get it sorted. Confidence in a product is one thing but a quick lead time to get a resolution when living full time on the road and relying on our gear is another (and arguably more important). Thanks for following along. Hope you enjoy what we have coming next. It’s a great country we live in!

    You have to reset the BMS by putting voltage to it with another battery. Like jump starting. That will reset the BMS and allow you to recharge it.
    When the battery is fully discharged it will go into safe mode and you won't get any voltage readings off the terminals.

      @westaussiewanderers8503  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Sam, thanks for your comment. We did all you have suggested plus more without success. Our battery was actually faulty so the voltage was dropping in and out, even once fully charged.

      Hi Pat, For a full update, check out our Darwin episode where we finally get the battery sorted. The long and short of it was that itechworld did eventually confirm that the battery was faulty and refunded us, it took 5 weeks to get to that point though so we could finally have the issue resolved. We have since purchased another lithium battery (different brand) from a different retailer. So far our new battery is going well. Hopefully we will have better and faster post-sale customer service with this new battery should something go wrong since this retailer has “bricks and mortar” stores all across the Country.

    running the whole van on a single 120Ah battery?

    • @westaussiewanderers8503
      @westaussiewanderers8503  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep. This capacity suits us great! No need for a crazy big battery system if you have a 3 way fridge running on gas whilst off grid. Fridge was always cold and battery barely dropped lower than 50% during normal usage.

    Hi guys, hope all went well when your spoke with the Service team about your battery!

    • @westaussiewanderers8503
      @westaussiewanderers8503  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, Your service team did the best they could within the company policies when we called. Unfortunately the policies meant we were not able to get a verdict to replace the battery for many, many weeks while we stressed about our 12v input/output as we tried to keep our essential gear operational while off grid with no clear date for a resolution. It’s just a shame the service team cannot accept photographic or video evidence of a faulty product to help short track the lead time to replace the product as we depended on it. Thanks for the comment.🤞🏼😁

      C'mon ITech,, you have all these TH-cam creators spealing your product.. it's disappointing to see the warranty claim being so unhelpful. Bad word of mouth travels faster than good.. Do the right thing!

      @@markfoster74their are more scammers and false claims being made on warranty through misuse of a product, hence companies having warranty policy’s. It is the responsibility of the buyer to read the conditions of sale and if they understand and accept, then purchase knowing your outcome if product fails.

      Did you end up getting a new battery? And if so how long did it take? I'm about to send one of mine back because my BMS keeps turning off the battery when I turn on my inverter for some reason even with nothing running off the battery.
