      It's the best ramping off point or a Pilot Metropolitan BUT those don't hold as much ink and it's best to use cartridges with them.

    Hi Robin. I’m a regular watcher-subbie. I love this video as I’m a fountain pen fancier too. In the early sixties I started using one for shorthand class. The teacher required either pencil or fountain pen only. Anyway I wanted to say I also have color matched ink to pen color. I made an ink wish list of five you are using. Thanks for this most enjoyable video. Take care!

    Ooh my goodness, that pink Vroni sketch ink is gorgeous in the demonstrator!!! I’ve been super curious about the sketch inks. Their label art is so great. Also, coral ink + coral pen = perfection! Ooh the color match of the de atramentis and pink twsbi is also magical.

      You need to contact me on Instagram and so maybe you can help me on why the brown Monteverde doesn't write. Drives me nuts cause it's such a beautiful pen! I'm scared to use my vintage one. But that's OK just makes me happy to own it.

      Seems strange that Goulet said the ink/pen might not be suitable for each other. It’s not a strange ink you put in, haha. Have you tried moving the piston down and letting a drop of ink come out just to get it flowing through the feed?

    Hello! Loved your video, just renewed my fountain pen obsession and found you! What a great showing of your pens, and inks and how you use them!!! I too love color and using watercolor, as well as paper crafts! I had a really nice fountain pen 18 years ago that I lost and since then tried to find a new moderately priced new one. The TWSBI looks right up my alley, and what your doing is awesome with all the waterproof inks! I'm wondering if you've had any problems with the waterproof inks? I started watching all these what not to do videos and I thought that that was one of the inks that causes problems or ruins the pen. I know India Inks, Document Inks and Pigment Inks was mentioned to eat up or clog the nib. But I love the idea of water coloring over!!! It's like the best mixed media idea! I have a glass pen from 30 years ago and J. Herbin ink, but talk about a mess! It's fun to use but before you know it you finger that the pen rests on to write is covered in ink that doesn't wash off!

    • @talksfromtheheart
      @talksfromtheheart  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, don't use those inks they will clog the nibs. My suggestion would be to just start with Noodler's Black and see how much you use it. That's my go to ink anyways. And I've not had any issues with the inks wrecking my fountain pens but remember they are made for fountain pens. Just cause an ink is liquid does not mean it's for a fountain pen. Hope this helps and have fun! I love love love watercoloring over my writing. I go in spurts where I pre-watercolor my pages or I go back over them.

      I needed to consult my friend Sarah Martinez on this question just to be sure not to steer you wrong. Because I know just enough to be dangerous...LOL. First of all the biggest variable with fountain pen inks is the paper. Not sure what paper you are using but if you are stuck on that particular paper then I would suggest you get some samples and swab them with a q-tip before loading your pen. And then Sarah got this link for me to give to you. Its "fast drying" inks off Goulet Pens. And my all time favorite is Noodlers Black and here is a link to that ink off Amazon. It's waterproof and my all time favorite. To be blunt it's really the only ink I would have ever needed. amzn.to/3ba2cBr

    Literally dozens of videos exist on YT re; the care and maintenance of fountain pens, both modern and vintage. SBREBrown comes to mind right away. Chris Saenz is another. Just type "fountain pens" or "fountain pen maintenance" or "how to fill a fountain pen" or whatever you need, in the Search bar in TH-cam. You'll find tons of info just waiting for you. Also, check out Fountain Pen Network. There you will find any type of info you need re: fountain pens, the acquisition of them, the care of them, the trading of them, the history of them, advice and guidance on any aspect of them, really. Also, I must take exception to your statement that the hobby of fountain pens is hard to break into. I have found the creators of FP videos to be more than generous in giving of their time, talent, knowledge, advice and even,, actual pens and ink samples. Do some preliminary research, introduce yourself to some FP folks on YT or IG, and your world will be enriched immeasurably.
