Wow... a HOUSE concert, in Chico! Why wasn't I there! I love John Doyle's creative and rock steady rhythm playing, and what a great entertainer. You have done a great service here... excellent video and audio recording of a truly inspiring musician... thank you. (PS... my last name is Doyle, so I'll claim John as one of my own, though he wouldn't know me from a knot on pine tree)
Also, the boat was en route to Boston. After WW1, she did successfully make the journey and married a man from Roscommon. French Court
My grandmother survived the sinking. She was from Glengarriff. Upon being plucked up by British navy, a sailor put his pea coat on her. In her distress, she was more concerned with with how ashamed her mother might feel if she knew she was wearing a British pea coat. Seems absurd, but understandable in a time when young girls were forced to emigrate to avoid starvation.
