You and your uncle sure have good taste and classic automobiles specially this beautiful GM coupe you have here. 70s and 80s vehicles were built solid and I’m talking the GM vehicles, cars trucks and vans

I had 1979 also. . I bought it from a widow. Husband passed away and she had it in her garage for a few years. This was in 1987. The son actually sold it to me.. At the time, it had only 27,000 miles and I bought it for $ 2,700. ( go figure lol )I saved up. It was my very 1st car . I had just graduated HS a year earlier. Its was asparagus green . I put an Alpine stereo system in it.. Any man will tell you , you always remember your 1st car . Watching this brung good memories. Especially when you showed the interior gages . Thank you.

beautiful car - remember them well - this was the second year of the downsized mid size Buicks - almost identical to the ‘78 models - the tail light lenses were slightly different from the ‘78 style - definitely replace that radio with a stock version - I think the 4.9 liter engine was the bigger one available

Hahaha! They get on my nerves! Same with the Delta 88/LeSabre "tone" type warning buzzer.

Nice car; get that carburetor serviced so you don’t have to repeatedly “pump” it when starting. Setting the choke and one or two pumps is normal…

301 pontiac. Perfect for a 350, or 400 pontiac swap.

It’s the 4.9. In ‘79 most were sold with the Buick 3.8, with the Pontiac 4.9 and Chevy 5.0 optional, with the Turbo 3.8 offered on the Sport Coupe. Our ‘79 was the first of two NA 3.8 Regals in a row, my pleas for any of the other engine choices having fallen on deaf ears. In retrospect it was probably wise my dad chose the slowest option as he was perpetually on the verge of having his license suspended.

Nope I gave it to my uncle for his classic car collection.

Could use a piece of sheet metal to fill in that gap between the rear bumper and the body. Shouldn't be too hard to cut the metal and shape it to size and then paint it. Did that with a 1977 Buick Regal. The fix looked like the original panel or better.
