September 22nd, 1998. I would have been 12. What a wonderful song to bring out the nineties. This was the decade of innocence. Who could have thought that the new Millennium was going to be a little rough. This song reminds me of a better place in time for me.
Nice! I was 14. Brings back so many good and bad childhood memories. Idk how many times I just sat in my room and listened to his Souls Core album. He and Matthew Kahler are my all time favorites.
@@TheBoneheadpro where’s YOUR videos, stud? I bet you’re REALLY a great singer/musician.…so we’ll be waiting to see yours…bet we’ll have to wait forever.

There were so many great live performances for the Cold: Live at the Chapel series 1 and this was one of the best, which is why it was included on the DVD.
This is definitely Shawn's best performance of his song. He just owns it all the way! Awesome job Mr. Mullins and sorry I missed his Valentine concert 2013. Hope to catch him soon in concert!
I won a Radio contest here in Boston in the 90's and saw Shawn in person with Cher! LOL! The venue was small and there was a dance floor, it was called the "Jingle Bells Concert!" He was Great!!!
@@corinnecorson3045 All I know is the guy with long brown hair stage left--David Patterson. We were in the 5th and 6th grade together in Savannah GA. I was shocked when I saw him in this video!! This is my favorite version of this song, sounds so rich with the mandolin and David's guitar!!
@@michaelhalas4287 Yes, this is a such a good version. I recently rediscovered Shawn Mullins. Not sure why he slipped out of my purview. All of the instruments add so much to this version, including the accordion. The other version I really like is a video on 2metersessions. His voice still has such an amazing and beautiful range. Thanks for responding.
This rendition is much better than the original track! He puts his heart & soul into this song. I've always loved it, though. Very uplifting & plain sweet.
I absolutely loved this version as a 13-16 year old. This soulful acoustic sound has been drowned out by all the "OK computers" in my country. The bigger the sound the better it must be...shame.
cuantos años sin escuchar este tema.... creo haber tenido unos 17 cuando la escuche y muy pocas veces la escuchado y hoty después de uno dos años bucandola me la encuentro sin querer... :)
There's another nice, acoustic version of this song on youtube ...search "mullins lullaby kfog". But the mandolin and accordion on this one lends an entirely different feel. Enjoyed it immensely - thanks for posting.
I noticed his tongue very yellow. I wonder if it is from the spray many singers use for their throats. He is sweated a lot too, the lights must have been really hot.
I remember as a young teen if that old when this song came out local radio station had a late night request hour. I heard the number and called in on ym own and asked them to play "rockabye" they knew i mean lullaby lol. I laugh when I think about it now lol
I had never heard this version. This song with a mandolin is fire.
This was filmed live at The Chapel in Melbourne, Australia in the early 2000s.
This sounds better than the recorded version, geez he can sing!
This is better than the recorded version. Amazing voice with pinpoint control. Wrung every ounce of emotion out of that song

Funny, I must be older, I remember the 80s as a decade of innocence. In the 90s everything seemed to be getting jaded, dirty, grungy...
Been needing Shawn to tell me everything’s gonna be alright since 1999
And?
Me as well
Very underrated singer for sure! Hits some sweet notes and it's a great raw version to showcase his talent
He's not underrated by me. I never understood this comment. I see it on almost every music video I watch anymore on youtube.

I am sorry. My daughter loved this song. I lost her in 2011. I’m sorry beyond measure.
This defined 1998!
An amazing treasure from the 90s era. Long live generation X.
amen, as a fellow Gen X'er I agree
Mr. Mullins is an amazing songwriter...and sings pretty good too...
I always liked this song as a kid. And Shawn is great live singer.
Lol, love the end "bye....bye, yeeea yaa, thanks ya'll",

The soundtrack of my wife and I first getting together. What an amazing album.
I have this CD for years love this song.
Absolute masterpiece
It's like Axl Rose and Jack Nicholson in The Shining combined.

My absolutely favorite song. Love it so much.
This song takes me right back to ninth grade sitting in the hallway with my lunch buddies, singing this at the top of our lungs ❤

This is soo dam under rated.
Maybe to You he is….to the Real Fans, anything but “under rated”
he is sooo good live that i cant put it into words.... dont die without seeing him in concert
Just a brilliant musician - song writer - performer . A huge favourite of mine.❤👋👋

Love this song, one of my all time favorites, BUT, I wish you would sing it like I hear it on the radio. Not a fan when you sing it different.
What is the intro part to this ? I don't remember hearing it on the album version.
