Welcome to Next of Ken and in this episode, we're counting down 23 Of Wilson's Best Moments On "Home Improvement." Although time has been cruel to the once beloved FOX comedy, one key element remains a favorite among fans and sitcom lovers alike: Wilson. Tim's elusive and secretive neighbor, Wilson, who always hid his face behind a fence, was easily one of the best parts of the show. Wise and honest, Wilson always had the best advice for Tim and his family. Plus, he had some pretty hysterical moments on the show himself. In fact, when Tim would come to him for advice, you never knew what Wilson would be doing behind that dang fence.

I always imagined Wilson as a genius with several doctorates with a nice sprinkling of an adventurous life; basically the kind of person your strive to be. A smart, witty, and well traveled man. In other words the exact opposite of Tim.
You don't need a sheepskin to be cultured or wise. Just live life, observe, and be objective, learn from the successes and failures, and enjoy the walk.

RIP Earl Hindman. Tim Allen said he wept for days after his passing, losing a close friend and a colleague a couple years after the last episode of home improvement. The bond they created over that fence is forever in Tim's heart. On the last curtain call for home improvement, as Earl and Tim embraced each other, Earl whispered into Tim's ear that it would probably be the last time they see each other....

Tim Allen carried the hurt of Earl Hindman's death for a long time. When he did that dual role on Last Man Standing as both Tim Taylor and Mike Baxter, Tim mentioned Wilson, and that Wilson had died, and he was still clearly hurting over his death.
"No no no Tim" gets me every time! Wilson Wilson is one of the best neighbors ever. Well, besides Mr. Feeney, the greatest neighbor ever created!

This was a good concept and idea but it would drive me crazy when I was kid cuz I would scream at the tv "show your damn face!!!"

I remember reading somewhere that one of the reasons why Wilson’s face was always hidden was because back in the day when Tim Allen was a kid, he had a friendly neighbor who always talked to him over the fence, but Tim had a Hard time seeing his face

Funny thing is there’s an episode of Last Man Standing that crosses over with Home Improvement. In it Tim’s wife meets his wife from HI and she tells him stories of her ex. And his neighbor has a Wilson role during the episode, trying (and failing) to offer sage advice from behind the fence.
Why cut out the philosophical parts?
I like how Tim always screwed Wilson's advice up.
The best bit is definitely when he was painting a self portrait and he was only done with just above the nose and up
