Apply the masking tape to your pants leg or arm to make the tape less adhesive when attempting to remove.

As a watercolor artist I find all of your tips valuable for any medium really, even graphite. You are so young and professional, back in the days it probably took artist a lifetime to learn all those tricks and technics.

    Clear. Well-paced. Helpful.
My tip: nearly anything can be a mark-making tool with ink. I've used twigs, feathers, popsicle sticks, q-tips, drinking straws. It's a ton of fun and promotes discovery and out-of-box thinking.

hey, thanks for reminding me that i found a beautiful little feather recently! do you ever worry about contaminating your inks? i would think that putting random things in there could possibly cause a mold to form inside the bottle or something if not sterilized or what ever.
update: im an idiot, just realized i could easily eyedropper a small portion of the ink into a separate thing to dip from *forehead slap

Excellent job, Devin. You are an excellent teacher (as a professor, I've taught some 30,00 students in the past thirty years, and by my standards, you have done a great job.) i've been seriously drawing and painting for some sixty years, and the practical guidance you offer (and explain) is greatly appreciated!

Oh my! Where to start. Number 1, I only listen to people who can do, then teach. Your artwork is absolutely gorgeous. So expressive and alive. Practicing for over 50 years and still haven't gotten it right. Your pencils are to die for. Tip 21: A bad drawing will ruin any art. Concentrate on the drawing. Make the drawing as good as possible. Then ink. Highest praise for the video and the content. Stunning work.

I love adding bits of salt to puddles of wet-on-wet washes as they dry up in unique ways just as with the wet ink dispersing on its own in the puddles. I use it for spacey night sky effects.

Wonderful video! Really making use of really dark blacks is too true for sure. All my inked pieces stand out so much more when those are added in.
