Although it's not officially an animated short, G-Mineo should react to "Junkertown: The Plan". It was released at the same time as "Rise and Shine" to announce the Junkertown map and provide a little added backstory to Junkrat and Roadhog.
So, Ashe's and McCree's backstory: Ashe was/is the leader of the Deadlock gang, which McCree was a part of for a while. Eventually, Overwatch sent Reyes (Reaper) to arrest them, since they were going for bigger scores, and he gave McCree the choice of going to jail or joining Blackwatch (which is the option McCree chose, obviously). Since then, at least as far as we know, McCree and Ashe haven't really interacted since then (and, according to Micheal Chu, they never dated, but come onnnn...). Trivia: Reunion and Shooting Star are the only two cinematics to not start with rating information. Both Ashe and Echo were first revealed in Reunion, rather than a leak, ARG, origin story, or teaser, like the rest of the DLC heroes. Reunion added Route: 66 to the list of maps featured in events, shorts, etc. leaving Ayuttaya, Blizzard World, Castillo, Chateau Guillard, Hollywood, Ilios, Lijiang Tower, Necropolis, Nepal, Oasis, Petra, and Temple of Anubis. Just 2 tiny corrections... McCree was one of the deadlock leaders alongside Ashe and the Route 66 map was there before the short. It was so funny watching the short for the first time when it was aired and recognizing all the places I died.

Interesting detail- Cassidy rolls to reload when Bob is shooting at him, fires one shot, and fans the hammer to hit the grenades. There are five grenades. Attention to detail- reload =6 - 1 = 5 - 5 = 0 He perfectly winds up with an empty clip at the end.

I believe Michael Chu, who was the lore writer/master of OW until recently, confirmed that BOB isn't the one who "ripped off" McCree's arm, Ashe was just threatening him.
Idk if someone has mentioned this yet (Maybe the Have Idk) but McCree lost his arm because something had happened where him and junkrat ended up handcuffed together so the both cut off their arms to escape the handcuffs henceforth, Why junkrat is also missing a arm and why his and mccrees are opposite from eachother.
The story just continues with the Zero Hour cinematic, so there is nothing to worry about. I am enjoying this series so much and I can never wait for a new episode to be released. I do recommend watching "The Stroy so Far" before watching Zero Hour, it's a short 3-minute recap of everything so far. After the Zero Hour (Overwatch 2 cinematic) I would watch the hero origin stories, not before, because it's a different style. Thanks for these great vids!
McCree is so freaking cool. One of my fav characters for sure. His voice actor, Matt Mercer, is awesome as well. He hosts D&D games on his youtube channel and he has voiced so many great characters over the years. After the Overwatch videos maybe you guys could check out the trailers for Star Wars: The Old Republic, they are totally badass with some of the best lightsaber fights EVER.
This is actually my favorite of the original shorts. Now for lore notes! As has been pointed out, Echo and Ashe were not announced characters yet this was their introduction, so seeing this for the first time was a huge reveal. As far as Ashe and McCree's relationship and the Deadlock Gang, in game dialogue and the old head writer reveal the two were never actually an item. McCree says "You were never my type." "Too compitent?" Ashe asks. "Too rich," he responds. Keep up the fun videos!
Great reaction as always. Deadlock Gang, not Dreadlock. This was a big shock when it came out because Echo wasn't out yet and none of us had any idea who that was. Jeff Kaplan who heads the Overwatch team at Blizzard told everyone her name after the video but we didn't know anything else at all for quite a while. There's an extended clip for this (very, very short) that makes it pretty clear Ashe still cares about McCree but the OW team has said they weren't a couple, so they were just close. I think if you watch Ashe's origin story you can kind of imagine how they might have been close, even though McCree isn't really part of that origin story. I definitely recommend all the origin stories.
When this short was released it was our first glimpse of Ashe and Echo as new characters. Ashe came out at the same time, but Echo was a mystery for months.
The differences between the cinematics also resembles the different technologies developed around the world. You already noticed the difference between types of omnics. There are the Crusaders, which use German engineering, D.va's team which uses Korean technology, McRee with his bionic arm vs a group of bandit omnics. Also Genji is a cyborg now. Winstom is developing his own technologies- you saw him working on the bubble barrier. All those things, even the simple ones, are futuristic and advanced
There is the Junkertown short, which isn't a very long cinematic, but it's a fun watch with Roadhog and Junkrat. You can check youtube for the cutscenes (an opening scene and an ending scene for each) of the three story missions from Overwatch. You can't play them in game right now cause they only come around during the Archives event, but you can look up the cutscenes for them on youtube (and you can watch the gameplay of it if you want, there are some dialogue in there but nothing super critical). In order, they are: Uprising, Retribution, and Storm Rising. All three of these missions take play during the time when Overwatch was active and give insight into how the team operated while they were active. There are also short comics you can read on your own time on the overwatch website dealing with certain characters. Most of them are canon, there are a couple that aren't canon and are just cute little tie ins with in game game modes during certain holiday events (Yeti Hunt and Junkenstein)
So like this one, the next animated short was announced at Blizzcon. Before we saw Zero hour there was a short one called "The story so far". Without spoiling too much it's very short and there's nothing in it that you haven't already seen. It really will help get you hyped up for Zero Hour, because trust me, it's a good one

In Ashe's defense, she actually didn't miss because of herself, it was the bumbling of her team mates and pure luck that McCree didn't get hit! At "high noon" one of her cronies instantly bumps into her and screws up her shot, and then when she takes more shots at him, it is because of falling rocks that she doesn't hit him. There are Junkertown: The Plan and about 15-20 origin stories that are 1-2 minutes long. But I recommend watching Zero Hour next. It’s the latest cinematic of this story. After Zero Hour if you guys want, watch the origin stories. The give some good info on some hero’s backstory. BTW great reactions. Love your channel.
For the record, Bob didn't rip his arm. He lost his arm in an overwatch base explosion during the culmination of blackwatch/OW conflict. The same explosion Morrison (soldier 76) and Reyes (Reaper) are believed to died in.
Yeah when this came out, Ashe and Echo weren't character yet. Ashe was suspected because of the VO for her tweeted about this cinematic, but that was it. McCree use to be part of the "Deadlock Gang". There aren't Talon or Overwatch. BOB didn't rip of McCree's arm either, Ashe was just so mad that she wanted to let him know that she was gonna have the rip off his other arm. Also a interesting thing to note, McCree has a cybernetic arm, but uses his regular arm to shoot his gun. You also got to see all of his abilities, including his pinpoint accuracy of his Ult, which he says "It's High Noon" That's what the clock symbolizes. It's also a running joke to see if you can ever get his VO Matthew Mercer to actually ever say It's High Noon because he said it so much when it came out that he doesn't now lol. I would also suggest, greatly, to watch all of the character shorts. You could group 2 or 3 together and they will explain the characters a lot. Especially Doomfist. That's my favorite. Cause we were all hype when he came out

This Cinematic was the first time we saw Echo, even before she was in game, therefore she was pretty hyped up. A little Backstory about her: Dr. Liao helped building the Omnics, until they turned against mankind. She was pretty shocked, but James Morrison, better known as Soldier 76, wanted her to join Overwatch. Who would be better to fight Omnics than the woman who designed them? Liao wanted to change the world and forged a robot with extraordinary smart AI. Able to learn from humans, even Emotions. This was Echo. During her work on Echo, she got the bodyguard Jesse McCree. It is rumored, that Liao had a crush on him, but thats not official. Anyways, an accident in the facility made the US Government confiscate Echo. And now when she was to be brought to another location, the Deadlock Gang received a tipp, about a weapon transport via train. Oh, and afaik is it unknown how McCree lost his Arm
Ashe was the founder of the deadlock gang. This gang of outlaws do crimes across the west and has no connection with overwatch. Mcree was a member of the deadlock gang and members are not allowed to leave once they join. And so, he had to flee to overwatch and that makes him an ennemy of the deadlock gang.
Echo was locked away in that capsule because when the petras act was passed they wanted to keep her safe. Her creator Mina Liao was one of the scientists responsible for creating the first omnics before they went rouge and while doing that she created echo a “multi tool” robot but without the consent of overwatch or anyone else she added learning capabilities to echo and gave her the ability to think for herself(this was very controversial at the time due to the Omnic crisis) mcree and Mina were the only ones to know about this because mcree was minas bodyguard. It was speculated that since echo is a learning robot if she fell into the hands of talon or any other malicious group they might rub off on her in a bad way

McCree was in the Deadlock gang until he was caught by Overwatch. Reyes/Reaper gave him an ultimatum to either be brought to justice or join Blackwatch and have his criminal record wiped clean so he joined Blackwatch and dissappeared from the face of the earth (Since it was a secret part of OW). As far as I know he never told Ashe about it so she thinks he just ditched her and dissappeared. When Overwatch ended it turned out that Reyes never wiped his criminal record and since noone outside Overwatch knew about his employment he's still wanted by the law for his past crimes.
Theres an extra scene for reunion, if you search up " Overwatch reunion extra scene " it should come up. It's only 1 minute or so. And the origins are cool too!

It's so funny to see you guys yell "Echo!!" when her face came up. When this first released, nobody knew who the heck she was. We were just all excited about Ashe, haha.
This was the first time they introduced both Ashe and Echo, however this was the day Ashe came out as a character. They put echo on the back burner for like 2 more years until we got her as the most recent character.
Y'all should definitely react to all the origin stories that have released so far, they provide a lot of backstory, not only of the hero the video is about but also about the organisations they are a part of or have worked with.
to understand a little bit more how overwatch was dismantled watch the retribution cinematic and to get some easter eggs on the next steps of Talon, see "storm rising", which i think are the two cinematics remaining before zero hour(the best one, so far)
Btw, this short was all hype when it was uploaded. We got Ashe as a new character and we had NO IDEA of who Echo was or what she did, so theories were everywhere, as she was released on the game like a year or so later And Ashe works on her own with her Deadlock Gang, you'll learn more when you see her origin story
There's actually another animation called The Junkertown Plan, which features Junkrat and Roadhog. You probably don't know this yet, but Roadhog is actually Junkrat's bodyguard. There's a comic that explains how they started working together. There's also another little video called A Moment in Crime that also features them, which I recommend you watch. Especially since you like those characters so much. About Reunion, though, McCree and Ashe were never actually romantically involved. They were more like business partners, or maybe even childhood friends. It's obvious that they both still care about each other, but it was always in a platonic way. They were co-founders of the Deadlock gang when they were younger, which Ashe is still the leader of. McCree is no longer a member because he was basically forced to join Blackwatch when he was younger, which changed the course of his life. There's actually a lot of interesting lore surrounding McCree that I suggest you guys look into.
So I saw someone gave the backstory for Ashe and McCree, however they didn't address the arm. He lost that during his time in Blackwatch. It's not confirmed (to my knowledge) but there is a comic out there that shows the mission where he lost it.
The Coin McCree left on the table is actually the Overwatch Credit. Fun Fact: I actually carry a credit coin with me from a past BlizzCon! It's got the credit symbol on one side, the Overwatch logo on the other.
Next you got "Zero Hour" which I would suggest watching next, then maybe the hero origin stories. Zero Hour is what leads everyone into Overwatch 2. All the Hero Origin Stories are pretty short, as in 2-3min in length and you could do multiple of them in one video.
Before Zero Hour cinematic you should watch Brigitte's Origin Story to know why is she there if you're interested in story you can also read Valkyrie Short Story if you want to know why is other character there. And definitely The Story So Far video.
From what i know Jesse didnt loose his ARM to any of the dead lock team. After he left their gang and joined blackwatch he still jad hes ARM. SO that should mean that he lost IT during one of his missions

As many others have mentioned, you should definitely watch the "Story so far" video so you can recap before you watch Zero hour. But I suggest you watch both in one video so you guys can enjoy the final cinematic to the max.
Fun fact: The Overwatch team started working on making Ashe a hero after she was designed for this short. They thought she was cool and her weapon would be fun to shoot in game so they started working on her. Even the idea of her ultimate was based on this short, not the other way around. They even used the recording of "BOB! Do something!" from this short as her ultimate voiceline.
From what I’ve gathered, this cinematic and all the other ones before it were in the “past” and from now on they seem to be in the “present”, or at least the next one is. So all of the OW1 ones lead up to the OW2 one that is out and potentially the ones to come in the future too. Maybe I’m wrong but this is just something you could keep in mind idk. its DEADlock gang, not dreadlock. but McCree was part of Ashe's gang and they may or may not have been a thing (highly implied). but during a mission,McCree was captured by Blackwatch (the stealth black ops version of Overwatch) while the rest of the gang managed to get away. MCree was given 2 options: spend years behind bars, or work for Overwatch.

After the Overwatch videos maybe you guys could check out the trailers for Star Wars: The Old Republic, they are totally badass with some of the best lightsaber fights EVER.
This is actually my favorite of the original shorts. Now for lore notes! As has been pointed out, Echo and Ashe were not announced characters yet this was their introduction, so seeing this for the first time was a huge reveal. As far as Ashe and McCree's relationship and the Deadlock Gang, in game dialogue and the old head writer reveal the two were never actually an item. McCree says "You were never my type." "Too compitent?" Ashe asks. "Too rich," he responds. Keep up the fun videos!

Great reaction as always. Deadlock Gang, not Dreadlock. This was a big shock when it came out because Echo wasn't out yet and none of us had any idea who that was. Jeff Kaplan who heads the Overwatch team at Blizzard told everyone her name after the video but we didn't know anything else at all for quite a while. There's an extended clip for this (very, very short) that makes it pretty clear Ashe still cares about McCree but the OW team has said they weren't a couple, so they were just close. I think if you watch Ashe's origin story you can kind of imagine how they might have been close, even though McCree isn't really part of that origin story. I definitely recommend all the origin stories.
When this short was released it was our first glimpse of Ashe and Echo as new characters. Ashe came out at the same time, but Echo was a mystery for months.
The differences between the cinematics also resembles the different technologies developed around the world. You already noticed the difference between types of omnics. There are the Crusaders, which use German engineering, D.va's team which uses Korean technology, McRee with his bionic arm vs a group of bandit omnics. Also Genji is a cyborg now. Winstom is developing his own technologies- you saw him working on the bubble barrier. All those things, even the simple ones, are futuristic and advanced

There is the Junkertown short, which isn't a very long cinematic, but it's a fun watch with Roadhog and Junkrat.
You can check youtube for the cutscenes (an opening scene and an ending scene for each) of the three story missions from Overwatch. You can't play them in game right now cause they only come around during the Archives event, but you can look up the cutscenes for them on youtube (and you can watch the gameplay of it if you want, there are some dialogue in there but nothing super critical). In order, they are: Uprising, Retribution, and Storm Rising.
All three of these missions take play during the time when Overwatch was active and give insight into how the team operated while they were active.
There are also short comics you can read on your own time on the overwatch website dealing with certain characters. Most of them are canon, there are a couple that aren't canon and are just cute little tie ins with in game game modes during certain holiday events (Yeti Hunt and Junkenstein)
So like this one, the next animated short was announced at Blizzcon. Before we saw Zero hour there was a short one called "The story so far". Without spoiling too much it's very short and there's nothing in it that you haven't already seen. It really will help get you hyped up for Zero Hour, because trust me, it's a good one

In Ashe's defense, she actually didn't miss because of herself, it was the bumbling of her team mates and pure luck that McCree didn't get hit! At "high noon" one of her cronies instantly bumps into her and screws up her shot, and then when she takes more shots at him, it is because of falling rocks that she doesn't hit him. I am not saying I am a Ashe fan boy or anything ;)

So Ashe is the leader of the Deadlock gang, which Jesse McCree used to run with. This was before his involvement with Blackwatch (Reaper, in-game, says "Right. This is where I picked up the damn ingrate).
Also he and Ashe did not date lol, but we all wish they did

There are Junkertown: The Plan and about 15-20 origin stories that are 1-2 minutes long. But I recommend watching Zero Hour next. It’s the latest cinematic of this story. After Zero Hour if you guys want, watch the origin stories. The give some good info on some hero’s backstory. BTW great reactions. Love your channel.

For the record, Bob didn't rip his arm. He lost his arm in an overwatch base explosion during the culmination of blackwatch/OW conflict. The same explosion Morrison (soldier 76) and Reyes (Reaper) are believed to died in.
Yeah when this came out, Ashe and Echo weren't character yet. Ashe was suspected because of the VO for her tweeted about this cinematic, but that was it. McCree use to be part of the "Deadlock Gang". There aren't Talon or Overwatch. BOB didn't rip of McCree's arm either, Ashe was just so mad that she wanted to let him know that she was gonna have the rip off his other arm. Also a interesting thing to note, McCree has a cybernetic arm, but uses his regular arm to shoot his gun.
You also got to see all of his abilities, including his pinpoint accuracy of his Ult, which he says "It's High Noon" That's what the clock symbolizes. It's also a running joke to see if you can ever get his VO Matthew Mercer to actually ever say It's High Noon because he said it so much when it came out that he doesn't now lol.
I would also suggest, greatly, to watch all of the character shorts. You could group 2 or 3 together and they will explain the characters a lot. Especially Doomfist. That's my favorite. Cause we were all hype when he came out

McCree and Ashe founded the Deadlock Gang, a Biker outlawgang until Gabriel Rayes recruited him for Blackwatch.
This Cinematic was the first time we saw Echo, even before she was in game, therefore she was pretty hyped up.
A little Backstory about her: Dr. Liao helped building the Omnics, until they turned against mankind. She was pretty shocked, but James Morrison, better known as Soldier 76, wanted her to join Overwatch. Who would be better to fight Omnics than the woman who designed them?
Liao wanted to change the world and forged a robot with extraordinary smart AI. Able to learn from humans, even Emotions. This was Echo.
During her work on Echo, she got the bodyguard Jesse McCree. It is rumored, that Liao had a crush on him, but thats not official.
Anyways, an accident in the facility made the US Government confiscate Echo. And now when she was to be brought to another location, the Deadlock Gang received a tipp, about a weapon transport via train.
Oh, and afaik is it unknown how McCree lost his Arm
This ISN'T the last one! I've been so hyped for you guys to watch Overwatch 2: Zero Hour for so long It's AMAZING!
Ashe was the founder of the deadlock gang. This gang of outlaws do crimes across the west and has no connection with overwatch. Mcree was a member of the deadlock gang and members are not allowed to leave once they join. And so, he had to flee to overwatch and that makes him an ennemy of the deadlock gang.
Echo was locked away in that capsule because when the petras act was passed they wanted to keep her safe. Her creator Mina Liao was one of the scientists responsible for creating the first omnics before they went rouge and while doing that she created echo a “multi tool” robot but without the consent of overwatch or anyone else she added learning capabilities to echo and gave her the ability to think for herself(this was very controversial at the time due to the Omnic crisis) mcree and Mina were the only ones to know about this because mcree was minas bodyguard. It was speculated that since echo is a learning robot if she fell into the hands of talon or any other malicious group they might rub off on her in a bad way

Btw: Bob didn't ripped off Jesses arm. Ashe says she will rebuild Bob and then he will "rip off the other arm" and not "ALSO the other arm".
McCree was in the Deadlock gang until he was caught by Overwatch. Reyes/Reaper gave him an ultimatum to either be brought to justice or join Blackwatch and have his criminal record wiped clean so he joined Blackwatch and dissappeared from the face of the earth (Since it was a secret part of OW). As far as I know he never told Ashe about it so she thinks he just ditched her and dissappeared.
When Overwatch ended it turned out that Reyes never wiped his criminal record and since noone outside Overwatch knew about his employment he's still wanted by the law for his past crimes.

It's so funny to see you guys yell "Echo!!" when her face came up. When this first released, nobody knew who the heck she was. We were just all excited about Ashe, haha.

Btw, this short was all hype when it was uploaded. We got Ashe as a new character and we had NO IDEA of who Echo was or what she did, so theories were everywhere, as she was released on the game like a year or so later
And Ashe works on her own with her Deadlock Gang, you'll learn more when you see her origin story
There's actually another animation called The Junkertown Plan, which features Junkrat and Roadhog. You probably don't know this yet, but Roadhog is actually Junkrat's bodyguard. There's a comic that explains how they started working together. There's also another little video called A Moment in Crime that also features them, which I recommend you watch. Especially since you like those characters so much.
About Reunion, though, McCree and Ashe were never actually romantically involved. They were more like business partners, or maybe even childhood friends. It's obvious that they both still care about each other, but it was always in a platonic way. They were co-founders of the Deadlock gang when they were younger, which Ashe is still the leader of. McCree is no longer a member because he was basically forced to join Blackwatch when he was younger, which changed the course of his life.
There's actually a lot of interesting lore surrounding McCree that I suggest you guys look into.
So I saw someone gave the backstory for Ashe and McCree, however they didn't address the arm. He lost that during his time in Blackwatch. It's not confirmed (to my knowledge) but there is a comic out there that shows the mission where he lost it.
The Coin McCree left on the table is actually the Overwatch Credit. Fun Fact: I actually carry a credit coin with me from a past BlizzCon! It's got the credit symbol on one side, the Overwatch logo on the other.
Next you got "Zero Hour" which I would suggest watching next, then maybe the hero origin stories. Zero Hour is what leads everyone into Overwatch 2. All the Hero Origin Stories are pretty short, as in 2-3min in length and you could do multiple of them in one video.

From what i know Jesse didnt loose his ARM to any of the dead lock team. After he left their gang and joined blackwatch he still jad hes ARM. SO that should mean that he lost IT during one of his missions
dont forget Zero Hour and the game play reveals for the characters and the game before it came out. Also Heroes of the Storm cinematics that have Overwatch characters in them. Also Team Fortress 2 vs Overwatch 1 and 2

Fun fact: The Overwatch team started working on making Ashe a hero after she was designed for this short. They thought she was cool and her weapon would be fun to shoot in game so they started working on her. Even the idea of her ultimate was based on this short, not the other way around. They even used the recording of "BOB! Do something!" from this short as her ultimate voiceline.

From what I’ve gathered, this cinematic and all the other ones before it were in the “past” and from now on they seem to be in the “present”, or at least the next one is. So all of the OW1 ones lead up to the OW2 one that is out and potentially the ones to come in the future too. Maybe I’m wrong but this is just something you could keep in mind idk. its DEADlock gang, not dreadlock. but McCree was part of Ashe's gang and they may or may not have been a thing (highly implied). but during a mission,McCree was captured by Blackwatch (the stealth black ops version of Overwatch) while the rest of the gang managed to get away. MCree was given 2 options: spend years behind bars, or work for Overwatch.
