In defense of some of this though:
Some of these people seem to just deliberately go into the AMA with resentment for them in the first place, trying to show or confront with (allegedly mind you) dirty laundry - which any person has - or just on the get go looking for confrontation, and then demand they answer them so they can keep up the abuse. And if they don't, they will increase their resentment and create even more drama jumping the gun. Very toxic behaviors.

I remember one time Seth MacFarlane did an AMA where he thought it was just people asking questions for his new show, The Orville. He got confused quickly when he didn't realize you could literally ask anything, hence, an AMA.
To his credit, he realized his mistake, got the mods to make a new thread, started again, and probably had one of the coolest AMAs in Reddit history. Even joked about the previous AMA being his 'biggest career regret'.

Reddit really thinking like they should be able to just ask flat out insulting and inflammatory questions and have people put up with it though.
Then they get up in arms as if they bought tickets to the AMA and have some reasonable expectation of quality.

He came across as so out of touch and dare I say, boomerish, and it was so obvious he had no idea what Reddit was or the aherm, peculiarity of its users haha. Hey Sunny, how about the flip side of this, what about a video on AMAs that went super well? I would be curious to see the difference in how successful (as opposed to the unsuccessful celebrities we just watched) celebrities approached this particular part of their press tours for their new works they are promoting. You people on here really don't know what is an AMA and it shows. As much I hate reddit, Ama is a nice subreddit for all the people (not just celebs) from all walks of life taking their time to answer questions, sometimes there was a terminally ill guy with cancer, another an heroin addict. Some celebs like Musks AMA went super, he actually responded at interesting questions with interesting answers. It's not a f*king place for celebs to freely promote their stuffs to us peasants

My couple of my favorite celeb AMAs were Drew Goddard and Buzz Aldrin. Drew understood reddit culture and leaned into the memes while also thoughtfully answering questions; Buzz also thoughtfully answered questions and shared lots of great stories. I think successful AMAs all had people who came across as sincere: they spent time answering questions and put some thought into their responses.
Sunny, I agree this might make an interesting video topic... then again, it's often more entertaining to watch train wrecks than watching trains smoothly chugging along.

The joys of the "contractual". In almost all cases, actors who take leading roles in films are required as part of their contract to undertake promotional and publicity work. At the time the contract is signed, that work has almost never been planned, so the studio or production company decides later who does what during the publicity tours. Actors thus find themselves required to do gigs that they don't fancy without any opportunity to say no, often notified at very short notice (to avoid them finding an excuse not to take part). Sometimes they behave themselves and sometimes they don't.
