Great info as always! It’s my experience when you end a listing on your computer, it doesn’t ask for a reason. But when I end it on my phone app, it asks for a reason and all seem like they’d be detrimental. So whenever I end listings, I do it on my computer. 😊
You've done it again Justin. I was thinking about hats TODAY(I've never sold one) but in all my yt reselling video viewing career, I've never heard anyone mention how they ship hats. I wanted to know...bag or box. You read my mind again 😊 Thank you much!!
20:40 I think if you’re de-listing from the mobile app, eBay asks you for a reason. If you de-list from a computer, they don’t. Not sure what the deal is with that
Thank you for that tip about shipping dates. I don’t print labels, instead I buy postage through eBay and USPS scans the QR code when I bring in the package. I think it would apply the same as printing a label. I’m a part time seller; my sales have dropped due to not listing as much and consequently, I dropped below top seller status. I’m sad about it but trying to remember I have 100% positive ratings and I’m doing my best during a bad mental health state. Thank you for all you do for the re-seller community.
Hi Justin....thanks for answering my question about the missing sent item. It was weird from the start. It shipped to Portland, OR which is NOT my local international location so I don't think it actually WAS international. The buyer said he was in Vietnam. ANYWAY, when you clicked on the tracking it just said preshipment USPS awaiting item. But i DID in fact drop it at the PO USPS ground adv. Oh well... just a weird transaction all around. Thanks again ... like you say, you run into these strange buyers crom time to time so don't sweat it 😅
Awaiting item means it never got scanned into the system and unfortunately, there will be no easy method of locating the package. Stories like this are why I always wait in line and have a worker scan everything before leaving. They often encourage people with prelabeled packages to just drop them at a desk or table. Problem is, once you leave, you have no idea what happens to those boxes. It may take an extra minute or two, but once something is scanned, you are covered and can at least file an insurance claim if it later gets lost. Hope you get lucky and it shows up, but worse case, lesson learned.
In my experience, if I have something that should have sold sooner, it’s usually because my shipping instructions have gotten altered or were not correct for some reason. Often eBay auto populates the package measurements with a length that is so long, it triggers higher shipping costs. So the first thing I check in my listing is the shipping method and measurements. Sometimes my shipping method has disappeared and I need to reenter it, meaning if someone had wanted to purchase it, they couldn’t have. So whenever eBay invites me to send offers, before I do, I revise the listing and check it to make sure it’s going to offer correct shipping costs.
Wise advice! I’ll add one slight caveat, and that is that a few weeks ago eBay decided to change something that of course didn’t need to be changed. It made it more difficult to send out offers if you edit/ update anything other than 1.) putting a minimum offer amount in your pricing, and or 2.) anything in the custom sku. If you edit even one space or character, it’s now a significant enough change that once you’re done with the edit and want to send the offer, you can’t do so immediately. For some unexplained reason they’ve done something to the system software, whatever, that forces you wait like 10 or 15 minutes. If you try and send it through you’ll get a pop-up informing you that says “offer not sent!”
There seems to be a lot of confusion about what eBay gives a late strike for, and so many people say they can't be TRS because of it. As said in the video, if you get a carrier scan next day, regardless if it arrives on time or not, you are good. If you ship a day or two late and get a scan a day or two late BUT it still arrives on time, you are good. It only counts against you if you get a late scan AND a late delivery. TRS is not hard to get and maintain, even if an occasional package goes out a day late.
Yeah, it doesn't help that you can get dinged for things that are out of your control like delays in delivery past estimated dates. I currently have 4 defects and am only actually responsible for one of them. I won't bother to grouse about them unless my rating is jeopardized. 😏
When people return something expensive and its clear they "rented" the item like in your case with the mask. I locate their username and block them from my store. I dont want to sell to anyone like that who is abusing your good customer service. To me its scamming and I dont every want to do business with that person ever again.

Returns are more of a problem if your profit margin is low. Then returns really hurt, especially if the return cost is high (big item/long distance). So with some types of product niches etc, you need to take extra care to describe accurately, & if you accept offers, try screening out awkward buyers by looking at their feedback left for others etc before you accept an offer
In our case, most of our post officers aren't even running right now in canada because of the strike, I drop off my orders but they are in limbo until further notice. Anyone who did buy from me was made aware of this, and I offered the option to cancel and get a full refund. No one has asked for a refund yet, I just hope ebay truly protects us as they have been stating they will.
@@CoyoteCombat I removed all my listings that had shipping below $15 in order to protect myself. Hope the strike ends fast as this is really screwing over small business' like myself, especially at 4th quarter.
yea I recently had the same issue as the lady with the refunded lost package. I put in 10 packages to my post office, the new guy their accidently put my packages in the mail bag of empty mail bags and they got buried. the delivery guy picked it up along with the other mail brought it to the main hub in our county threw it with the rest of the empty mail bags, then it was shipped to the main hub for my state after that we could not locate it. 2 months of nothing. a few people wanted a refund, others were thankfully very patient, after those two months one of the refunders messaged me saying his package finally showed up and he wanted to pay for it again(yay!) after that i checked the others and found them all scanned in atlanta, georgia. all is good now, had to eat the cost of 2 items but thankfully the most expensive item was repurchased. all in all it is what it is. nothing I could do about it besides relay info to the buyers and refund them when requested.
When you end a listing on your phone it asks you why you want to end the item. I normally say it’s no longer for sale. I use my phone when I’ve sold something on another platform. I typically just use my laptop to end when I want to delist and relist. No questions asked.
Yup, the person DEFINATELY rented your mask for Halloween. You cursed them for 5 minutes, I would have done 6! LOL! Great video as always thank you Sir!
Hi Justin, I just found what Ebay considers vintage...I think. I'm listing a keychain and in the "era" item specific, pre-1970 is considered vintage, 1970-present is considered modern. That surprises me. I follow the 20-year rule myself.
Hey Justin, I wanted to get your thoughts on this recent return I had. So this person bought a typewriter and I had bubbled wrapped it up and I thought it was really good. About two weeks after the customer received it they said it arrived damage showing pictures that the On/Off switch was damaged. I approved the return and then about two weeks later towards the end of the 30 day return window was when they finally shipped it back to me, but they did not wrap up the typewriter at all and put it in a different box then the one I had shipped it with and so it was far too damaged without repair from bouncing all around. I reported it to eBay but there automated system said I needed to do a full refund because that was my return policy
I understand why getting upset about returns isn’t advantageous and major stressors can impact one’s health and well-being. However, the instance with the vintage Scream mask is a super low down example. With that being said, why not impose a restocking fee (significant percentage based) that would act as a major deterrent for items of such a high ticket value? 40% restocking on $550=$220…make that a VERY EXPENSIVE rental and you’re much less likely to receive such a return. I’m not even suggesting that you apply that to all your inventory, but for these rare, obscure, and valuable listings. It’s just a thought.
I don’t do returns for seasonal or high ticket collectible items. I sold a $1,000 and 2 $500 t-shirts this summer with no returns. Customer could still do item not as described but it would have been a stretch. If they get buyers remorse they can sell it. I make sure there are plenty of photos and defects indicated and answer all questions. 99.9% of my items have returns. These items are the exception.
I just had a buyer automatically open a return 30 seconds after I got the notification that it was delivered. I looked at the buyer’s account, and I have a feeling they are going to send me a different item back because they have done it multiple times before according to their feedback.
I contract to use a 48-hour mail service (UK), if I can't hit the despatch deadline I sometimes take the hit & pay £1 extra to upgrade to 24-hour delivery.
When I list items I usually list them high, while I am reviewing those from last month and now analyzing views and past selling data and listed, but I also consider that one buyers who is looking for a good deal. A few things have sold right away, but my inventory is high and that is when I analyze what would I pay for that? There is always another listing that might sell right away and a backlog of inventory never reviewed may seem like something goodwill will end up with. But very few can live off reselling things of nostalgia, days of high Quality, and of sentimental and numismatic value. Question? Don't you get recognized now when visiting garage sales or do they help you know that?

What do you use to weigh your boxes when you print or create a shipping label? Fedex has been killing me with underpayment cost so I'm not using them anymore, but USPS has also done them a couple times.
Your store just has to be healthy enough to cover the refund on a return; don’t go spend that money fast! You can say no returns, but ultimately eBay will force you to accept it so you might as well accept returns.
Selling high value items on Ebay can attract scammers = worry/hassle/potentially higher risk of loss. If you're new to selling, you will definitely be more likely to be targeted as a potential sucker
