I like my dark rum coconut water a little stronger than your standard dose. I like it darker, and i like to make coconut water ice cubes, so when it melts, the flavour profile evolves, rather than diluted. I typically start my dosage with about the same amount of liquid and iced coconut water.
Do it. Look at both Vita Cocos. The white one may be more up your street. It actually has pressed Coconut in it, so a touch thicker and maybe more flavour. But actually Coconut Water, I've tried loads. Some are terrible. So I think thats the reason VC is waaaay more expensive than the rest.
Here in the States, I look for coconut water that is not from concentrate and has no added sugar. Vita Coco is a brand that is very available. I found a cheaper brand with a grocery store label that tastes like Vita Coco. Find the good stuff, like finding the good rum, and you might find a winning combination that puts a smile on the face.
For years, when I am not drinking rum straight, I lazily just mix it with coconut water. Makes a great, easy combination. If you want the tropical taste but don't want the sugar overload of a pin~a colada, try pineapple juice, coconut water, rum, over ice. You should find out that the standard pin~a colada has other things that are not pineapple, coconut, or rum. Keep it simple, and you may enjoy the pleasure and relaxation of a simple rum drink.
I forgot in the northern hemisphere you guys don't have natural coconuts. Here in south america we can pour coconut water straight from the coconut, with jelly bits and all ;)
