    🌳 www.linktr.ee/modeltmitch So my Model T needed a new set of spark plugs after 10+ years on the old ones. This is her second set of Champion X plugs - a MUST HAVE accessory for your Model T :)
    ----------------------------------------------------
    I imported my 1925 Ford Model T from the USA, not far from Detroit, Michigan where it was built.
    The Model T was manufactured between 1908 and 1927, and was know by various names including Tin Lizzie, Flivver, T‑Model Ford, or just 'T'.
    The Model T set 1908 as the historic year that the automobile became popular. It is generally regarded as the first affordable automobile, the car that opened travel to the common middle-class American; some of this was because of Ford's innovations, including assembly line production instead of individual hand crafting.
    On May 26, 1927, Henry Ford watched the 15 millionth Model T Ford roll off the assembly line at his factory in Highland Park, Michigan.

    I’ve been following your channel for 5 years and I’m so glad you’re back!
    Recently, I’ve been in touch with a few Model T owners local to me and I’ve had my fair share of Model arts for sale that have caught my eye. Most recently, however, I got in touch with a chap who does them up and sells them and he has the most beautiful 1922 coach built cabriolet you’ve ever seen. The windows roll down, the roof supports fold down as does the roof, so you can have a fully enclosed car or fully open top. Needless to say, I’ve got some saving up to do.
    Funny that you should mention Champion X spark plugs as I recommended them to a farming couple local to me who had 3 Model Ts just weeks ago.

      By cabriolet I presume you mean what Ford called a "town car", of which are extremely rare to find nowadays... and yes there's some beauties out there!

    Love your car and your videos! I also love the simple elegance of that car! It is as they say that simpler solutions are always better. I am not even surprised cars like that are still alive these days.

    Not sure how easy it is for you to find vintage Champion X plugs where you live .. but they are common enough to find them for around $5 at any good car show. Ones marked Ford go for more. I actually prefer the vintage plugs more than the new reproductions. The electrode is thinner and seems to be hotter. I take them apart clean the inside with wire brush and the outsides with a wire wheel. Then apply cold gun bluing to the outside and use very fine steel wool on the brass tops. They come out nicely.

    It's interesting to see how simple some mechanic parts were back then. I love your videos man, the music, the instructions and the vibe... everything is just so wholesome! Thanks Mitch!

    Anti seize is about the only "lubricant" that can handle extremely high temps. Will do well at keeping the threads from galling when the caps get removed

    Have a 20 Roadster and a 27 Touring that I inherited from my Dad. The 27 has bushing adapters that allow you to run modern plugs.

      Yes I do! It would hardly be a Ford if it didn't leave its calling card 🤣 you don't change the oil in a Model T, more just top it up 🤣 .... actually mine does get oil changes, I'm not that heartless 😁

      Thanks for your comment 😀 it's incredible how much of a throw-away society we live in today! I doubt any car built this year for example will still be running in 100 years time - for starters all the plastic will have have deteriorated beyond recognition 😅

    Mitch have you made a video of driving in the rain with manual windscreen wipers? Is this a job for the passenger? Is there a way to mechanise the wipers in a 1926 model T? Thanks!

    • @ModelTMitch
      @ModelTMitch  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question! I try to avoid driving in the rain if I can help it 😁 A passenger makes a good wiper motor!
      Can't say I've seen electric wipers on a Model T, I can't imagine it would be period correct.

    I know this is a very unordinary request but... how do you stop in an emergency in a Ford model T? do you slam on reverse and the brake at once?

    • @ModelTMitch
      @ModelTMitch  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Excellent question! Yes you can press down on all three pedals at once, as a last resort, the engine will stall and stopping should follow!! 😆 but it's only an emergency action. Normally the foot brake will do its job!

    • @Quignal
      @Quignal 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Frank Kulick raced a highly modified Model T for Ford Motor Company from 1910 to 1913. On February 17, 1912, Kulick reached 107.8 miles per hour with the car on frozen Lake St. Clair, northeast of Detroit.

      @@Quignal thank you for this nugget of historical information. It's very interesting.

    • @ModelTMitch
      @ModelTMitch  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Never raced it myself! The fastest I've had her up to (stock) is 44mph / 72km/h. With a high compression cylinder head, upgraded transmission and rear end, it's possible to boost performance 😁 ... or you can totally destroy it and drop in a small block V8... not something I could ever do to a piece of automotive history.

      Coincidencidily, 72 kph is the fastest I've had my 26 Canadian coupe going on the flat, faster downhill, but that can get a little scary, especially if there's a turn or bend at the bottom of the hill! 😮
