Ahhh yes, this is how aot happened. I remember when Eren didn’t have a mother. When eren didn’t think there was any Titans. When everyone died with no survivors. And when Mikasa changed personality completely.

I both speculate and was told that it's the complex transition from the original source to the big screen. Getting through the pitch meeting, being a writer and talking to the producer, you must wow them in a way that they see it making money based upon their *opinion* on what the audience wants. Most of them have no clue about source materials, how popular they are, and what their fans want. So, artistic compromises happen that way just to get the movie made. Often it's because the producers tend to not give a sh^t about the fans because they only care about how much of a fan base they can build from the ground up via fans created by the movie. Also, sometimes the people creating the movie don't really know anything about the source material, including the people bringing the script to the pitch meeting. They just get the general gist by watching some shows or reading some written/graphic media. So, the literal everything is an alternative reality on that level. There are also creatives vs. bosses fights, firings, and replacing. Also, there are constant compromises because of the budget... funds. Also, sometimes there is a decision-maker that wants to change something just to make it more interesting because it's unexpected, something a fan of the original stuff did not see coming because it's different in the original work... they say "keep it interesting" I say "I change this because I'm a narcissistic control freak jackass". I could go on, but you get the idea now, right? You're welcome, my friend.
There are many ways to make the movie closer to the original material, I'm sure bunches of ways just popped in your mind. I'll throw out a little nugget here. Do you know the best way to get an original source to big screen stay close to the original source? Have the biggest decision makers and money guys be fans of the original source. Ryan Reynalds (Renolds?) got really irked by his role as Wade Wilson (Deadpool) in that one CGI-heavy Wolverine movie we Marvel fans would rather forget because of how it murdered Deadpool. Why? He was and is a Deadpool fan. So, he put all of his own time and resources into creating his own Deadpool movie and it totally rocked! His 2nd movie did to some other Marvel characters what the MCEU did to Deadpool but was a work of art with Cable and still with Colossus. He also read quite a bit of Green Lantern comics after he did that movie and understood the Green Lantern fan rage against that one too, wishing he didn't have his name and face on that movie. We need more big-decision makers like Ryan Reynolds. Maybe you rally up a bunch of Attack on Titan fans to mass-email him to make a closer-to-the-manga (at least anime) version of Attack on Titan.

The movie is completely inaccurate, firstly, the titans, for some reason, can only operate in the sunlight, if there's none, they just stand there. Also, the person who dies at the beginning should've been Eren's mom, and Mikasa was a very important character later on. Also, they didn't have vehicles, they had horses... The live action was so awfully terrible, that I had to bleach my eyes as to not literally die from cringe, and there's so many more mistakes, i could write an essay, just listing off everything that's horrendous

Ah yes. This is exactly how I remember AOT. Where Erwin Smith, known as Shikishima, has a female partner who is Eren’s childhood friend and “crush”, Mikasa. We love how Armin and “Shikishima” isn’t blonde anymore and Mikasa has a total new personality. This is exactly how the the actual animation goes. 10/10.

Guys this is originally not a movie it’s a anime.it’s called attack on Titans and the content was very detailed if u watch the anime. You would notice small details that will make you tear up. I cried at the end as well. Not to mention the songs are just so matching it makes you cry even more😢😢😢❤❤❤

As usual the movie industry thinks just cause anime's are anime's they can remake the story and expect a success, nah man they're making the same mistake that Death Note made like four times over, Most Anime's success is their cult following that gets them in the light, nothing pisses off a cult following more than changing lore. First of all this is one anime that is totally ok to cast white people in with accuracy, as most of the population of Paradis was, according to the lore, western European, thats what formed the bond between Erin and Mikasa, because she was a "Oriental" in their words not mine, making her more valuable as a sex slave so they killed her parents and attempted to kidnap her when Erin attempted to save her, along with her never being bitten by a titan (it was Erin was not her) and Levi being sexually interested in her (They're cousins, ew)

after watching the anime, i understood why AoT fans actually find this movie a joke.. yet i have to say that this live-action movie got me into AoT anime actually.. the animation on this film is actually superb.. it's just that we don't agree how they changed the plot in a way and didn't include some important characters
Exactly, this movie wasn't that bad. Only people who had watched the anime first like me will find this worse than it ever was. I see barely no good comments that actually appreciate the acting. It's just comments that are ranting on about how different they are from each other.
@@kookies2160 people would have a better chance of appreciating styrofoam cutouts than the "actors" that were cast in this movie (and the sequel. yea, they had to make one of those too). Being frozen solid and unable to move is at least a believeable reaction to being grabbed by a titan that's about to eat you (even portrayed at one time in the anime by Armin, when he froze up in dread at the prospect of being eaten) compared to the very off and uncanny reactions that most of the "actors" portray in this movie. It's just bad. Really bad acting. The script is also poorly inspired and terrible. It draws way too much attention and wastes way too much time on things that don't even matter instead of focusing on things that do.

It made no sense for Mikasa to be so cold toward Eren. Like what was she expecting him to do against a mob of people, and even if he did managed to push himself outside, what was she expecting him to do against the Titans with no training, no weapon, and no knowledge on how to fight the Titans.
They also took away eren's mother's death scene. One of the most devastating, heart tearing, emotional moments of the entire series. Well done directors

I think the studio decided to changed the original story because they had to condense all in 1 movie, they didn't want to leave a cliffhanger as the ending. Either way I understand why fans don't like this movie specially if you compare it to the anime.

As an AOT fan, the only thing i actually like about the Live Action Series is the Armored Titan and the Attack Titan's Design. And i guess they did a decent job in making the titans absolutely horrifying in a real life situation. The Colossal Titan's design looks ok but the view from far away makes him look like he only has an upper body and no legs despite the legs being one of the most important parts of the colossal titan.

So, let me get this straight… We’ve gone from 3 walls to 2, Mikasa completely ignores Eren for 90% of the movie, Hange is called Hans for some reason, Levi doesn’t exist, the Armored Titan (and by extension, Reiner) doesn’t exist, and Titans can reproduce (and fall asleep for some reason). Are we sure they had the right source material?
Not to mention we also see nothing of Eren's parents, Connie, Sasha, Erwin, Annie, Bertholdt (the Colossal Titan), etc.

I mean, the movie wasn't that bad, for a first time adaptation of a manga and anime, i find this thing pretty decent, and don't forget this is obviously and adaptation of the the original creation, so I can understand missing charcters and lack of real story events.
For the good points, design of Titans generally and Eren attack's Titan are looking great (Eren titan looks scary ngl), and the environnement left after the first Titan attack seems nicely made, destruction, starvation, people moving to inner part of the walls. Just imagine a massive budget production who would stick more to the original story would be dope for sure !
Yeah in all honesty the movie isn’t that bad, it’s just incredibly different from AOT. And since it’s supposed to be AOT (one of the greatest anime ever) the movie is super bad and laughable
Nah, the movie IS bad. Even treating it as it's own IP, it's pretty weird. After all, it's got a 40 year old in an overtly sexual relationship with a teenager. The character's make stupid, insane choices like not leaving the baby-dinnerbell when it starts up, or deciding to carry high powered "Here's your food!" torches... at night. I could also point out the other character weirdness like the girl Eren trained with, but somehow didn't know she was pregnant in the two years, whom for some reason JUST meets her in a small group of 20 cadets and she tries to not only sleep with him, but pretty much rape him when he's saying no.
Then you get to all the other stuff like having tech enough to create cars (with no oil or gas???) yet can't figure out air travel or basic bombs in 100+ years?
The movie is a shitshow of bad ideas that were never thought out

And it is explained, though indirectly, because that's one way movies save time, and you're supposed to have the basic intelligence to put 1 and 2 together. Do you seriously find it unreasonable that he wouldn't be privy to such technology that is specifically designed for killing titans? Especially considering they are all members of the scouts? Just another thing wrong with this movie to add: In the beginning ( 0:43 ) the HUMANS are shown building the walls which is completely wrong given that Karl Fritz used the founder to summon hundreds of thousands of pure titans slightly smaller than the colossal titan shifter, which then used hardening to form the walls.
Take it up with the orignal author of the manga then, because he's the one that enforced all of the changes lol!

Actually you're quite mistaken. The original author of the manga is solely responsible for ALL the suggestions that deviate from his original story and enforcing them. The first director actually even left because of, "creative differences", because he wanted to stick to the source material. It's kind of hard to argue against the guy who wrote said source material though.
