- This is my FULLY RESTORED 1997 Subaru Impreza Coupe. Full build details below. It’s currently up for sale for $8500. Located in Concord, CA.
RESTORATION OVERVIEW:
EXTERIOR:
- NEW OEM Acadia Green Paint (cost $4.5K+)
- NEW OEM parts; v7 grill, bumper, vents, emblems, door handles & seals, complete roof trim, window trim, window seals, & more ($3K+ in OEM parts)
- NEW yellow fog lights (rare)
- NEW headlights (clear smoked lens)
- NEW turn & marker lights (clear smoked lens)
- NEW JDM Clear Tail Lights
- JDM gold 16” wheels (not bent but curb rash)
- OEM mud flaps (from Impreza OBS)
INTERIOR:
- 2001 2.5RS coupe seats
- 2001 2.5RS leather wrapped steering wheel

I just got my first car, it's a 1998 impreza L coupe 5 speed manual, the original owner was my grandma and then it was my moms and now it's mine, only been in the family and i couldn't be more thankful for such a good first car

I like the IAG AOS since unlike a catch can its a matter of installing it and forget it. Does it's job without having to empty the catch cans. The Cobb one is a nice one also.

@@SubaruONLY the Cobb I read is better for stringent emissions requirements States like CA. But it's more expensive.

I got the same model of 1996 subaru impreza L coupe in 14 years ago. My first subaru ever. Good memories. And now i got 2 subarus. Is the 2006 impreza sti, and 2019 subaru ascent limited two got turbo charged engines. As a subaru diehard fan I love your show keep it up and take care. 😊
Love how much you have progressed with this. I'm sure I still have a pair of fog lights stored if you could use them. Come off a 98 and we now have a 2007 Hawkeye. Don't think it's the crystal lights though.
sheesh i have a green RS i've been restoring but its costly, i wasn't planning on going to this level but this is one hell of a good lookin car all things said. I also was on the fence about the jdm tails but wow. good work

Luke how’s it going, do you know anything about tuning, I’ve just built a new engine for my Subaru, 207 STI block with 205 heads, TGV deletes, KnN air induction kit, TD5 20g turbo, 800cc injectors, decat exhaust.
I’m looking at using Romraider software to start learning to tune myself was wondering if you had any tips or experience.

Ahhh. You caught that buddy - Nice eye! Added that little strip to cover the Airbag indicator on the dash… thought it was needed because I swapped to an early dash and removed the passenger airbag, plus was planning to go Nardi for the drivers steering wheel and that has no airbag too. Cheers!!!

What are L coupes/ 2.5rs coupes going for these days? Avg condition, no accident history, minimal (if no rust). Looking at importing one into australia at the moment as we only got sti coupes in australia and they're $60,000 minimum.
Manuals go for $7k+ range min. Autos closer to 4-5k min.
Questions. Have you considered the benefits of the use of an AOS on Subarus? I installed one on my WRX. And has really helped with the adding oil between changes.
Yes, using an AOS is a must for Subarus. Lots of great options out there. Which one do you like most?

Hello, your videos are always a big help! I'm installing my cam gears and am doing my timing today, do the marks on the pulley wheels have to be a certain way when installing the cam gears? I have a cam locking tool and understand the wheels have marks to line up when setting the timing so I'm curious if they should be installed in a certain direction?

Hello. Can you answer a question? What side of the radiator would the tranny fluid enter the radiator atf cooler? Both the inlet and outlet are on the bottom of the radiator either driver side or passenger side. Its a 2001 Forester L , 2.5 L

Looks muy bueno. Watching your engine removal videos. Have the 2006 sti with clutch issues. Haven't decided if I should do myself or not. Options are $650 labor at a tranny shop, pull engine or tranny myself. Just ordered Exedy clutch kit stage 1 with flywheel. 69 retired ,bum lowerback, arthritis on my hands with diabetis. Otherwise all good no worries. I do have a 1 ton engine hoist , engine leveler, and scizzer tranny jack, plus 3 floor jacks. Paz y salud

This is ah GM6. Ppl always say GC8 when referring tae ah 2-door 1st gen Impreza, But tha 2-door coupe is ah GM2 (Brighton) GM4 (L/LX) GM6 (RS) GM8 (WRX/STI). 4-door sedan is ah GC2 (Brighton) GC4 (L/LX) GC6 (RS) GC8 (WRX/STI). Ye can find every chassis code on tha VIN plate. It will say JF1GM6 on yer vehicle. :) Ah have an 01 Impreza RS that has been fully restored an covered to wha ppl call an RSTI but ma VIN starts wae JF1GC6. Every single 93-01 Impreza 1st gen is all JF1(Chassis code). Sorreh, it jus bugs me when ppl dinnae get that right as ah Subaru enthusiast.

This is true. There is a breakdown as well if you search on the rs25 forum. It's only in Japan/import impreza that GC stands for an impreza coupe.

Gc8 coupe is a direct contradiction
The “8” in GC8 is referencing the engine class, not the body class… as far as I understood it. Maybe I’m wrong.
@@SubaruONLY nothing to do with the engine it's the bodycode gc is 4 door gm is coupe the last digit is the series 8 being the final for that chassis
