    I too have a the M50, kit lens, nifty fifty, adapter and viltrox speed booster. If you look closely at shots using the 50mm with both you will see less clarity on the edges and corners with the speed booster. So there is a bit of a drawback to the speed booster.

    Hey great video, and good demo. You did my head in for a moment at timestamp 10:46 -ish, but I'm good now. e.g. EF-S 10mm (no crop factor required) x 0.71 = 7.1mm FF equivalent, with lower aperture. With FF lenses you have to include the Crop Factor in the math. I'm old and a bit slow... Cheers!

    • @okaro6595
      @okaro6595 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does not work that way. The crop factor is the property of the sensor. You will need to apply it equally on EF and EF-S lenses so the 10 mm is 16 mm equivalent. If you use it with a speed booster you should experience extreme vignetting.
      The widest rectilinear EF lens Canon has is 11-24 mm which is over 3000 €. Do you think you can get much wider with some trick?

    • @TheHeraldOfChange
      @TheHeraldOfChange 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@okaro6595 Instead of being a "dick," how about you clarify your point?
      Crop factor is not a property of the sensor, in and of itself. It IS however, a property of the relationship, based on comparison of different sized sensors, using the 35mm "full frame" size as the reference model.
      As for the rest, "Please explain?"

    ha. I ghetto rigged the glass from a cheap 4 dollar magnifying glass. onto a 30$ smart mount adapter and still getting that extra stop of light. but the chalk circles were the best representation of distance that I've seen yet. as you usually get photo comparisons but you don't really get that sense of distance. thank you for that. my question is have you actually updated the adapter yet. and does it make a difference? as I've heard some speed boosters give more clarity and sharpness after an upgrade.

      @AngelaZuniga  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Extremely late response, but in case someone else has this question:
      Depends, for the normal one it will actually increase your zoom more cause of a crop factor… so if you like the telephoto aspect and want to be really zoomed in, that’s the one. However, if you want the 70mm for portraits of something then the Viltrox may be better since it doesn’t crop as much and allows you to drop the f/stop lower

      Without knowing exactly which lens it is, I suspect the Tokina 11-16mm lens is an APSC (EF-S) lens. If so, then it's completely normal to see vignetting. EF-S lenses don't normally fit on speedboosters, but there are a few that will.

      OOooooooo good question, well the nifty 50 with the speed booster is better for low light for sure. But if i was going somewhere and could only take one lens it would probably be the 22mm, its super compact and the wider shot means i don't have to back up from my subject when taking a shot.

    Hi would the speed booster work with the m200?

    • @AngelaZuniga
      @AngelaZuniga  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It only works on ef lenses since it’s essential an upgraded Mount adapter

    • @okaro6595
      @okaro6595 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it works with any EOS M-series camera. The lens has to be full frame EF (not RF).

    If you use the speed booster with a apsc lens, does it have the shadows as if you used the apsc lens with a full frame camera?

      I am not entire sure what you mean about the shadows... Can you elaborate?

      @@AngelaZuniga probably talking about vignetting.
      IF the lens even fits, yes, it would likely vignette. Most APSC (EF-S) lenses won't even fit on a speedbooster. They'll hit the glass before the mount even engages. I can't remember, but I think my Tamron 18-400 will mount on my Viltrox speedbooster, but it's pointless with the vignette.

    I don’t get it, the nifty fifty is a 1.8 lens not a 1.2 🧐🤷‍♂️

    • @AngelaZuniga
      @AngelaZuniga  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Welllll yes, but even though that’s the case and the aperture physically stays the same the f/stop is able to drop down to 1.2.
      From online: “Speed Booster makes the focal length 0.7x shorter. F-number is simply focal length divided by entrance pupil diameter. Since the former reduces by a factor of 0.7x but the latter remains the same, F-number also becomes 0.7x smaller, or one stop faster. The F-stop increase is real.”

    I bought the adapter for 30 € in 2015. The were selling huge amount on eBay from some unsold kits. It really does not change the crop factor but the focal length. The 0.71x multiplier makes it 35.5 mm f/1.2 then when you apply the crop factor you see it is equivalent to 57 mm f/2 on full frame i.e. close to the original 50 mm f/1.8.
    The first was not at 45 mm as it was wider than the 35 mm the speed booster gives. It is more like 15 mm. The same for the 10 feet. The photos at 7:14 seem OK. 45 mm is between 35 mm and 50 mm.

      @AngelaZuniga I've seen on YT some videos of people modding the mount of an ef-s lens to enable it to be used with the speedbooster, but not sure about vignette in that case

    Madam, you did not cover 2 points (a) EXIF data - do both transmit this (b) Auto-Focus how well are they supported? Thank you, for stating the Viltrox is EF only, not EF-S.

      I did in the comparison for low sun footage... but i couldn't during the other comparison footage because the sun was crazy bright and I don't have an ND filter for my nifty 50
