Rather interesting… The old style should be discounted at least 5K..I wish the old days were back when I would go to a dealer and they would discount the truck 5K to 10K without haggling….. i’m one of the few who believes those days may return…🤔😳
They’ll return 100% when cheap Chinese money gets squeezed out of our economy after the government collects it with high interest rates, dealers can’t overprice there scrap metal when the broke population can’t get low interest loans anymore
@@tonyskillz I agree I really see hard times ahead for most people… I really believe the economy is gonna go in the crapper later this year and all of next year.. But really I hope it doesn’t…..
The real reason everyone should get rid of them is due to the faulty lifters used for the DOD system and the faulty torque converters. These issues destroy the motors which is why GM is currently being sued.
Bingo, wouldn’t touch another one of these trucks with the cylinder deactivation. Getting burned on one engine with a collapsed lifter and destroyed cam was enough for me. That stupid system costs way more to fix than it ever saves in fuel.
@@michiganman4398 I have owned multiple of the 07-13 GMs with the cylinder deactivation but thankfully for the older ones, there is this tuner made by Range that you can just transfer between vehicles so I have ran that for years. I am not sure how difficult it is to disable on the 2022s though.
That seems to be a GM issue, for some reason they have issues for years and refuse to change anything on the assembly line and just continue to it exactly the same for years.
I bought one yesterday with 2,000 miles on it , one owner , clean car fax , no paint work, still had plastic over carpet and still smelled new. Bought it 7,500 below sticker , best deal I could find , most lots were above msrp
Because they have faulty lifters and when one bank goes, chevy only replaces that side and you have to wait til you're stranded again for them to replace the other side...
My lifters went bad but they replaced both banks! This happened on my AT4, haven't had any issues with the truck since. Although, I will be selling it for a ZR2 in 2 weeks!
Pretty simple to me, the mid-cycle refresh introduced some small exterior tweaks but HUGE interior upgrade. That's the weakest part of the Silverado, the interior and GM finally fixed it.
This is a no-brainer to me. The interior being redesigned is the whole reason for the new model being more desireable. The old interior is/was horrible. Ben didn't mention that did he?
No the weakest part of silverado is its reliability.....I traded mine in on a 7 year old toyota truck ....no ZERO problems ever since..... Watch the car mechanics on here and what they have to say about reliability ...not the salesman!
@@jamesgreene9998 I'm talking about the older interior that Chevy/GMC had. I drive a 2019 Sierra for a work truck and the main issues seem to be electrical (gauges not working at times, instrument back lights not working, dash plastic getting scarred up, fitment issues, etc) . It is easy for me to compare GM trucks (work) to Toyota trucks (personal) as I have owned the latter for 35 years and their reliability, dependability and quality are excellent. I hope the quality of the new GM truck interior is improved.
The LTD's I found used were priced way to high. The new LTD's I found were what I call scraps off the production floor and not what I was looking for with a high price. It just led me to order what I wanted.
The Refresh interior is the reason I would argue. I traded in my 2010 Silverado that I loved because it became a rust bucket after 12 years of New England weather. However I was not going to buy a truck that basically had the same interior 12 years later. I waited 2 months to specifically get the Refresh interior, which is a game changer if you use your cell phone for everything, business, pleasure, etc. Why buy a new truck if your going to get old tech. More importantly, I was one of the lucky ones that got the 5.3 without DFM and the truck runs amazingly. No stutter, like the old engine when it would switch between 4 and 8 cylinders - Chevy truck owners know exactly what I am taking about. Lastly the thing I hate though is this automatic tailgate, that doesn’t have an override, it’s annoying and just dumb - it’s going to fail in the dead of winter when I need to get my tools.
I get you he says that people are trading in 2022 on the new ones they most of wanted that new interior pretty bad cuz you they took a major hit on that trade
What you have shown us is why. I purchased 2022, believing I would have the larger screen and so on but no, all I got was a 2021 sold as a 2022. Great work on your video reviews.
As usual, great video, Ben. Last July, I bought a GMC Denali 3.0 Duramax for two reasons: 1. I actually wanted the "old" interior. I like my trucks to look a little "trucky" and the Denali was already a stretch.... It's a little fancy for me. 2. It was about the time that GM was removing options (I had tried to order a High Country and cameras other than a back up camera were unavailable). I found this one on a lot and jumped on it because it was a "pre chip shortage" truck. A true Denali with the Ultimate package..not to be confused with the 2022 Ultimate trim level. The new interior is really nice but it just wasn't important to me. It's by far the best truck I've ever owned and I would encourage anyone to pick up a 2022 limited over the refresh. Keep up the great work, Ben.
Have the 21 at4 I love the Column shifter I like the new interior but I agree I like my gen over the new front ends. Love the 3.0 I’ve gotten over 32mpg on cruse control my last f150 averaged 11-14 smh
Yea I second this… 21 Sierra 1500 at4 here and I prefer having less sensors, cameras, just less tech that can go out down the road. An example I like a headunit that I can replace and possibly still be able to go aftermarket or oem if I wanted to. The way cars are moving these days…. Good luck replacing the tablet that’s hardwired into everything on your truck basically. Nice? Sure… but some folks are more practical and less swayed by gimmicky futuristic tech.
I ordered the 23 Trail Boss loaded with the 6cyl diesel. I was stunned at its get up and go. Currently I have a 2002 2500HD Duramax that has been awesome for me for 21 years. Towed a 10k dump trailer for at least 250k miles out of 320k miles. I wanted better mpg and in retirement I won’t be using it as hard . BTW I averaged 14 mpg I would say over the 320 k miles
A lot of 21-22 Sierra and Silverado trucks with the 5.3 and 6.2 has significant issues with the engines and other quality issues. Many people got them fixed and traded immediately, likely before the issues hit the Carfax plus trucks are in high demand and buyers received top dollar for their trade.
My 2020 trailboss had to have the engine rebuilt at 8k miles. Rods and lifters. I traded it back in because there’s no way I can trust that truck not to blow up out of warranty. I’m still pissed about it
I bought a Silverado T1 platform in Nov. 2019, LT, Z71, All Star package, and IDK, maybe because it was built early in the manufacturing run, the fit, finish, and mechanicals have been flawless, with the exception of TCC chatter, which was fixed by upgrading to the new Mobil 1 full synthetic transmission fluid. I'm old school, if I wanted a truck with the comfort of a minivan, I would have bought a minivan. Not selling mine at any price, even though currently I can get more than I paid for it. Best MPG has been 27 on the highway.
I TRADED IN MY 2022 GMC YUKON AT4 YESTERDAY for a 2020 RAM Power Wagon! The Yukon I had electrical issues like crazy and left me stranded. I gave GM two chances with a 21 Tahoe then the 22 Yukon AT4. The 21 Tahoe LT got trade because of Lifter issues. Back to my 5th MOPAR 🤗
@@deanjernstrom3760 I'm not too mad. I loved both the Tahoe and the Yukon. I have them on my channel and will be posting about the Yukon shortly. I'm happy again in a Power Wagon tho.
I have the version you are showing. The dealership had both options, but I like the shifter on the column vs on the center console. As well I personally don’t like the bigger screen, think it looks bulky and messy. But because I didn’t buy the refresh I got an even better price and several accessory add on options for free.
I think you are just doing some tricky advertising, there is no way a pick up is worth $50,000 , $50,000 OMG!!!! Has the public people become that controlled?? How do you feel practicing con tricks
Even though I have purchased two new vehicles since then, I have held on to my 2006 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 6.0L V8 that I purchased new in 2006. It was the last model of that body style and they had worked out all of the kinks if they even had any. I have had NO major problems and have done just routine maintenance (oil changes, brakes, wipers) for 144,000 miles, and have been everywhere and pulled lots of trailers. I only recently decided to change the spark plugs and the gear oil in the transfer case and differential for the first time; the oil was clean. I don't think the new Silverado's will last like that. They seem mostly about the swag. But, I'd love to have one. Unfortunately, the payment on my Silverado is $0 and has been for the past 13 years.
They'll blame the chip shortage but Chevy got greedy. Keeping the old version only makes sense if its a value option. Like the Ram 1500 Classic. Often times those are $10,000+ under the new Ram's price. Why would I pay the same for worse tech, worse materials, and old styling? It also creates market confusion especially when "Limited" usually indicates higher end premium products in the automotive world
I had a 2019 Silverado but traded it in October 2021 and ordered the 2022 Refresh Dec. 18, 2021 the 1st day they were available to order. I had to do a short term lease on a 2021 Dodge 5.7 Hemi for 4 months. Well my 2022 Chevy Silverado Refresh RST 6.2 came in Mar. 23, 2022. Sunroof, Power Back Glass, Leather Seats, 13.4 INCH SCREEN, etc.. was better than I expected. After having a 2015 -5.3 the 2nd year after the last upgrade started, then buying a 2019 -5.3 which was the same plain interior I knew my 2019 was over once I saw the Refresh version on TH-cam coming soon.. And at the time vehicles were up 43% on resell. Needless to say I sold the truck after driving it for 2 years and made a 1k more than I paid plus a good check after they paid the bank. I love my new 2022 Refresh and the 6.2 is a different beast.. 🤔 what's the new slang.. OH, HIT HIT DIFFERENT!! Thats why the Old version 2022's are stacking up, and the fact there's almost no price difference.
It's not a surprise. The 5.3 only does 5k miles before the valve train grinds itself to death. And the "babymax" has a no start issue by 10k miles, which requires the cab to be removed - very expensive. Folks ditch them once they are fixed. The best view of a Chevy is in the rearview mirror as you drive away.
I've had my heart set on a 2022 LT Trail Boss REFRESH for a while now, but since I started my research, I've found Chevy has fallen short in one area in particular. The seating is terrible. Small thin scarcely padded seats throughout compared to the Ford and Ram. Although I experienced the new interior and was disappointed by the poor design of the seats, I'm still going to fully test drive the new Chevy and compare it to the new Ram Limited. The Ram's luxurious interior is hands down the winner between the two and the seats in the Ram are just heavenly, but I love that the Chevy comes with bucket seats and a center shift console, and I do prefer the look of the Chevy's exterior. Ram has a center shift console available, but in the GT option and only on the Rebel. So far, the Ram has exceeded in most categories, and I suppose the test drive will be the deciding factor. With each truck well optioned the Ram will still cost about 8K more, but these particular options for the Ram just aren't available on the Chevy such as the Air Ride suspension, HUD technology, 19 speaker Harman Kardon sound, and the dual glass panel roof. Or maybe I'll just keep on driving my 2014 Tundra and enjoy not having a car payment.
Thanks for the video.. I'm sure anyone looking to purchase a vehicle from Chevrolet will find it useful.. BUT, a word to those thinking of a Silverado Trail Boss with the 5.3L engine Or any pick up with that particular engine......DON'T..... You are almost guaranteed to have lifter issues. Anything from a ticking noise (lifters) to outright lifter collapse and motor failure. And it can happen at any time. In warranty and out of warranty. I own a 2019 trailboss and after 23000 miles lifters on bank one needed to be replaced under warranty. And at 74000 miles a lifter in bank 2 collapsed. It caused severe damage to the crank shaft and a new engine was put in it at almost $9000... My cost. There are thousands of these vehicles out there with this type of problem... I totally hate it when I call them and they say thank you for being a part of the GMC Chevrolet family. I can only imagine the problems with a first year model middengine Corvette. GMC Chevrolet has lost me as a customer for the rest of my life.
I’m wondering when the basic work truck is going to come back. It’s definitely needed for the strange economic world that we live in. It’s just not worth having all the toys to break. I want some crank up windows no sensors and literally just comfort options being stripped down to AC and power mirrors are nice, but I can say that if I’m in the market for toys I’m going to a luxury car or something in that class. Trucks are for work…
Couldn’t agree more with your comment , you nailed it. Why would you want leather seats, giant touchscreen, massaging seats in a truck meant to be used for ‘work’. I have a 2023 f150 STX with the 2.7 and I love its simplicity and reliability. No sunroof, no heated seats, no power seats, column shifter, smaller touch screen and I’m totally fine with that! It’s a truck not a Cadillac 😂
The 8-speed transmission and lifter failure fiasco has ruined me for life from ever buying another GM vehicle, especially a Silverado. I moved on to the Ford F-150 and can't believe just how much better of a pick-up truck the F-150 is when compared to GM. I was a very loyal Chevrolet customer and owned four new Silverados over the years. But I learned that my loyalty to them wasn't the same loyalty they had for me, which was none. I moved on, and I am much happier now.
GM got rid of the DFM/AFM crap that was ruining these engines. Unfortunately Ford decided to start using them in their 5.0 you would think they would have learned from GM problem’s with that cylinder deactivation crap.
@@joeytakach7131 the DOD-less builds are only temporary; it will come back when the chip shortage improves. I agree Ford should stay away from DOD. Even Ram suffers lifter failures with its system.
@@wint_62 Lol. No turbo lag on mine. 450HP AND 510T. She is way quicker than any truck I've owned. Btw, aluminum bodies don't rust, ever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Pro tip for Ya, Ford changed to all aluminum bodies in the model year 2015.
Man I love my 21 Cherry Red Z71 LTZ. Rides great. Have over 18k on it with no problems. It’s been the best pickup I ever owned so far. This pick up turns heads!
Yes the interior is the only upgrade. I looked into trading in my 2020 2LT trailboss with only 10k miles on it for a new one, but after taxes and paying full sticker on these new trucks it would cost me an extra 15k and I don't think it's worth paying 15k for a slightly bigger screen and digital display. I got 7500 off sticker this truck back in 2020 and those days are long gone to get deals like that.
I also agree. I absolutely love the ZR2. The dealer offered me $55k for my 2020 LTZ crew cab 6.2. But I would be paying sticker for the new truck. I love the ZR2. But not for an extra $16-18k after taxes. My salesman even said to me. Your nuts to trade your truck in. He said the days of $10k off the sticker are gone. He actually feels bad for the new customers that have to pay msrp
@@robertng135 Yes the zr2 is an awesome truck with the suspension, lockers, the 33s and that fender cutout looks pretty cool too. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that 6.2L that requires premium fuel. If I ever trade in my trailboss, it's gonna be for an other trailboss because they offer them now with the new duramax which can get over 30mpg on the highway, but that is a few thousand dollar upgrade.
I have a 2020 Trailboss as well. I wouldn't pay extra just to get an updated interior. At the end of the day it's a "truck"...it's not a luxury sedan or suv.....trucks are suppose to be a little rugged and simple
@@coreypatterson1386 yes and I know people complain a lot about how outdated the interior was but it's actually very functional and the screen is responsive. I like how it still has physical buttons other than the touch screen. The only thing I would like my trailboss to have is the 3.0 duramax which is now an option on the new TB
Some other have 2.7 4 cylinder engines, and are going back to V-8 engines. The 10 speed transmission is causing a lot of problems, and some dealers are taking 10-12 months to get them fixed!
Its difficult to trust a product when the internal engine components cant go the distance. GM's DOD/AFM lifters have had problems dating back to 2007 and not much has changed, they are still failing which usually takes out the cam as well.
That’s the exact truck I wanted to get because it had a column shifter and a better front bumper. But then I ordered a ZR2 for about 15k more that has EVERYTHING. Side cameras, locking front and the bumper is awesome if you ask me
@@adamwest3637 zr2 is a good looking truck, but the locking diffs and suspension upgrade isn’t worth that price. Lower trim and aftermarket upgrade is the way to go! Gratz on your purchase tho
Wife had a 2020 RST 3.0 Duramax 10 speed, we got it new, loved it, spun a rod bearing at 35k. Warranty replaced the engine but she didn’t trust it ever again. Ordered a 22 LTD immediately. She wanted the EXACT SAME interior and gauges and everything as her 20 which is why we went with the 22 LTD. We ordered it with a 5.3 and at 15k miles we love it so far. She didn’t want the less “truck like” updated 22 interior. Only thing I don’t like is with the 5.3 it came with an 8 speed. I miss the 10 speed from her 2020
I have had a chevy suburban 2016 and my friend had 2017...we both swore that we will never buy a GM product ever again....they dont last at all...we both new and took care of it nicely...but especially after the first year always and always issues...so frustrating..
I have a 2022 LTD with 6" lift, leather seats, spray in bed 7 years 100K B to B Never pay for oil as long as I own the truck. Its and Awesome truck we love it. oh and I have a Killer Stereo
It's not a mystery. Obviously, people want the new interior because the old one is awful. The pre refresh interior looks like it's from the 1990s which is why GM has been relentlessly criticized for it. That said, there will be plenty of buyers who don't care about the interior that will snatch up pre refreshed trucks at a nice discount.
I agree. It was a very odd video and question he posed. I thought it was going to end with him doing a big “Ah Ha” reveal for everyone and saying how great the interior was and how it was so good that people were trading their recent purchases in.
Traded in my 2020 Silverado LTZ last month for a 2022 F150 King Ranch Powerboost. From powertrain to interior there is no comparison to the Fords. I was a huge fan boy of chevys for 10+ years but the 5.3 with afm and 8 speed transmission was terrible and most people who have drove one will agree with me. Interior features and quality are not comparable. I know the new refreshed Silverado looks a lot better inside but it's fun to try something else. Also I have the powerboost hybrid with 650 miles per tank and the 2.4kw generator which is a game changer!!
I see tons of used trail boss trucks in all the dealerships around me here in Miami. It makes sense, with gas prices where they are, and going to get higher with an announced increase on June 1. No one wants these V8 trucks. Then the dealership is reselling these "used" trail bosss for like more than the new ones. It's insane. Seems to me if you want me to buy a truck with a V8 in this environment we are living right now, you better discount this truck at least 10k below the new ones. My prediction is in the last year with the insane money dealers have paid people for their used trucks, these dealers are gonna have a huge problem in the next year. Cause no one is going to buy these trucks that probably use 120$ in gas a week. They are going to loose their asses and its gonna be a huge disaster for the automotive industry. Meanwhile we have a president fiddling his thumbs instead of getting in front of problems he just lets them linger until they are un fixable.
I knew this would happen. The old interior compared to new be it silverado or Sierra, is a huge change and should be viewed as a major sacrifice for someone to buy the old version today. Not comparable. But prices aren’t reflecting it yet. Starting to in some cases but there’s a long way to go. We’ll see what happens at the end of the year into next. Interest rates are going to screw everyone. The days of easy money for these dealers are about over.
@@nyleslehnen4751 I ended up getting an AT4 with the old interior to lock in the interest rate last year. Not disappointed. Most comfortable and loaded vehicle I’ve ever had. There was still no price savings. Lol
There are many who like the "old" interior (meaning mostly the instrument cluster) better than the "new". The "new" instrument cluster does not look that different from Ford, Ram or Toyota. The "old" cluster looks like a Chevy truck. Plus, it gives you more real time information than the "new" idiot lights do. And, for someone who likes to electronically shift through the gears, having the gear shifter on the column makes a whole lot more sense than having to reach down to the console for your shifts. The console shifter takes up a huge amount of space. A console shifter makes sense on a Corvette even if it is an automatic, but not so much on a truck. It is hardly a "major sacrifice for someone to buy the old version today".
My 2015 Silverado LTZ 6.2 extra cab has been rock solid. I traded in a 2010 Silverado LTZ 5.3, which was a good truck. The previous owner apparently pulled a boat with it and must have backed it into salt water. Horrible rust from rear axle back, the rest of the truck looked new. I do use a Range Technologies obd2 device to keep it in V8 mode all the time. Love my 15, sharp looking, very strong, she is a keeper. 👍👍 .
@Subconsciously in ya head The lifters still failed on cylinders 4 and 7 even with the device. I did a complete AFM delete with a BTR cam and LS7 lifters. Had computer reprogrammed . Now it's like it should have been from the beginning. All V8 , all the time.
2020 3.0 Duramax RST 4x4 has been awesome, 30k miles and not a single problem. Even running hard off road. I'd probably only consider upgrading due to the new tow rating is almost 4,000 lbs higher on the 2022. And maybe for an actual 2 speed transfer case with 4lo. Not a huge fan of new front end look, but not a deal breaker.
@@jd03ctd long crank can be fixed by a update to software. It is believed to have been due to a few “bent” teeth on the exciter wheel. With the update to software, the computer will count more teeth before “starting”. It gives the truck like a .5 second longer crank overall, but no more missed starts. More info is available online about it if you’re interested. Basically, it turns out it can be ‘fixed’ easily and without pulling the truck apart =)
I hated the old interior and it was a no go for me. I traded my Audi in for the refreshed 2022 Trail Boss 6.2L and it's amazing. No discount but I love it.
Hope you have better luck than I did with my 2020 trailboss. Rods and lifters went at 8k miles. After doing research, turns out it’s a rather common issue. I’ll never buy another GM product and I tell anyone that’ll listen to stay away from GM

@@IAmMoparNut it’s not “one bad experience”. It’s happened to thousands of people. I live in a small town and the tech said he does a couple every month and has for years. It’s a pretty common issue and GM doesn’t care enough to fix it

I just bought a new 2023 LTZ. It has the 2 tone Gideon leather interior. I absolutely love this truck. I would have passed on the 2022 version though. The 23 is a much more modern and ergonomic design. Console shifter, big flat center display and redesigned buttons and interior. Big step up from the old, dated Chevy design.
The biggest reason people get rid of the new Silverado is because it is junk! Bad engines, bad transmissions, bad front axles, rattles everywhere! I bought a 2020 Silverado, had to have tires replaced because they were out of round and one even blew out. Transmission died with 5000 miles on it, dealer replaced torque converter and did fluid flush. Always had a rear window rattle that would not go away. GM is just pure crap! Traded that POS on a 2021 Titan, best decision I made concerning a new truck. The Titan has run flawless for over a year now and with a 5yr/100,000 mi. warranty. No AFM, no cylinder deactivate, just pure 400hp getting 21mpg running 75 mph on the highway with the AC on! Nissan has nailed it with the Titan!
This Chevrolet Silverado is a awesome truck you can take it off road and you can put any thing. You can wrap up put a light bar on it make it your own truck
I bet a lot of people are trading in for the same reason I just did... the used Market is ridiculously inflated as well. If you can get a halfway decent deal on a new one and make a ton of money on the old one, why not?
Unless you can make up the difference for tax, title, registration, etc there's no way you would come out ahead TRADING that truck for a new one "at the same price." They will bend you over on trade value then you pay all the terms pricing and gonna lose big
@@jhb3711 show me a dealer that will overpay enough for your trade to offset a new purchase and then I'll be a believer. Yes, you might be able to pull it off as a private sale, but I promise you won't do it with a dealer trade
I have a 23 LT. 2.7. Already blew motor at 10k miles. At 14k miles battery blew up, towed to dealer. 2 weeks later did it again and they replaced tailgate latch. I pick it up, new latch doesn't work either. 2 weeks later, dead battery again!!! And new latch is inop......it sitting at dealer now. 54 days in the shop since I bought it new back in December. It's a lemon 🍋🍋 88
I currently own a 2017 and use a Range Tech to keep it in 8-cylinder mode. Because the newer Silverados have DFM, where they drop down to 1 or 2 cylinders, and have that insipid auto start/stop, I don't think I would ever buy another one. However, if the combustible engine goes away all together, the point may be moot. Also, try replacing the battery on one of these newer Silverados--biggest PITA ever!
Last week I bought a 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500crew HST 4WD 6.2L Ecotec. It was on the lot as we examined many with smaller engines. My wife pointed this one out and I liked it. My test drive took me through the Ford dealership 1 mile away. I smiled going through there. Got back and there were 2 couples looking for our truck. Sorry. Nice drive home.
I think it has to do with the interior mostly. I have a 2019 LTZ and I think it should’ve had the new interior in it, being it was a redesign on the exterior. Gm didn’t do enough change on the interior when the 2019 came out imo….though it’s not that bad and it’s functional, it doesn’t compare to the updated version…
Within 18k miles on my 22 RST 5.3L, I experienced 2 different electrical issues resulting in being without my truck for 5 weeks. The straw that broke the camels back was the right side lifters collapsing. As soon as the warranty work was done I traded it! Beautiful truck but who wants to fight lemon laws the next 10 years. Obviously Chevrolet was aware of the problem. This should be a massive recall!
I am building a Silverado on the Chevrolet website and one of the things that is really annoying is you can't get the max trailering package with the 3.42 gears with the Z71 off road package.
I got nothing from this. Normal mid cycle refresh, but I didn't hear a compelling reason lots of people are trading out 22s for 23s. Just speculation without substance.
I've been noticing 2021 truck prices are slowly coming down. You can't get a 2023 silverado crew cab v8 4x4 for less than $50k. You can find low mileage 2021's for closer to $36k-42k. Ends up being $10k-20k cheaper for a 2 year old truck with less than 30k miles. Are the trade ins related to lifter and transmission issues?
I have a 2022 RST 4X4 LTD. I may be one of few but I like the "truck" look of the older one. The new refresh is very nice and I will not knock it. But for me I wanted a truck and not a car interior. The new refresh is fancy and I also feel that if done right you can get a better deal on the Limited version. I got mine at the end of the Month and of the Quarter and Very end of 2021. I was also the first deal of the day. So they were willing to make a deal workout. It basically comes down to personal choice.

it comes down to evolving, you either evolve or die, and this truck is bland and boring compared to its competitors, especially with the price tag consumers want more bang for there buck!
Interior is upgraded to the point of satisfaction. Exterior went from Optimus prime to Bart Simpson. The refreshed GMC Sierra, however, looks great inside and outside.
I love Chevy's, but I am terrified to own one. I took a brand new 2016 home for the weekend once. I fell in love with it as soon as I got behind the wheel. That weekend I took it out on the highway and got it up to 70 mph and the truck shook like it was going to come apart. I was flat out broken hearted. I youtube'd it like anyone would and found all the videos people were posting about the problem. So I've been doing the youtube thing because I am looking for a new truck. All I see is video after video where these GM engines are failing with less than 5000 miles on them. I think the new GMC is downright gorgeous and I want one so bad. It kills me because I just don't have faith in the brand.
@@marklemist6928 these morons don't understand they sell 500k plus a year they're bound to have issues. Hence the Toyota clowns saying theirs is so reliable sure bud you also sell 1/5th of what gm sells
I had a 18 silverado with the 5.3 8spd crew cab. Was a huge disappointment, was in the dealership for multiple transmission issues, a starter went out on it. And it was developing valve train noise before I got rid of it. And the overall fit and finish of panel gaps and material quality was just awfull. It's stuff you don't see until you get the car home and give it a first wash and really go over it. I really will have a hard time buying another gm product. Will probably go back to a ford f150 or try out the new toyota sequoia after it's been on the market for a few yrs.
If you got a white one wait until the paint starts to peel off. This has been an issue for a long time with the white vehicles, I had two white chevys and the paint peeled off on both of them. GM refuses to do anything about the problem or address what is actually causing the peeling and correct the problem but continues to paint them in the same manner.
I tried one out. Can't figure out why anyone would buy one. 5.3 is slow, interior is 2nd rate. Didn't handle very well either. Bought a new F150...LOVE IT!
Did the same thing. A friend of mine bought a 2021 Silverado RST and I bought a 2021 F150. Couldn’t look past the Chevy interior…which has basically been unchanged since 2015. Love my Ford!
The 5.3s have been problematic for 3-4 years.Keeping my 2020 RST.Not lookin to pay 20% more for Flex Pro and bigger screen.I went 6.2 and it also has issues.Specifically valve body
Good luck getting any warranty work done at a Chevy dealership. Chevy is one of the most arrogant dealerships that could care less about its customers. I will never buy another Chevy, highly recommend no one else does until Chevy starts caring about its customers.
As a Transmission shop owner. I love GM trucks. They are the biggest POS on the road. GM hasn't built a transmission worth a shyt since the 4l80E. You folks please keep buying them. I will see you soon enough.
Honestly I still think it looks like Silverado got kicked in the face the way they did the front clip and the upgrade is a good move BUT they put the front bowtie in the wrong spot and looks odd. I personally never liked Silverado and prefer the Sierra but I still would buy a ford over a GM. ZR2 Silverado is the first one I would ever buy if I was to buy another GM truck. Everyone likes what they like and if we didn’t have options it would be very boring.
It’s the integration of the V8 and the 10 speed transmission. Drive it, accelerate, pull a load and you will understand. They need to have used the 6 speed transmission.
Ben do you know why the front end of 2019 Silverado will sometimes feel like it’s going to kick out from under or very unstable when going over pot holes or some bumps?

What they don’t tell you is that the dealer mark up right now is around $5000 above MSRP for many models, not worth it! If you just are a little patient and wait a little longer that dealer markup will go away
If I trade in my trail boss will be for a Ram 1500 what happened its a lot people had so many problems with the Silverado lifters and transmission lack or jerk the interior as well and the 5.3L due to less hp should be GM increase the hp on the 5.3L 410 hp and 430 on torque but people getting boring I guess with the old power train GM quality its not good anymore good Content Ben keep up Bud
new interior is the reason. I wouldn't go near the old, but the new is appealing. i think Dodge needs to do something with the RAM's. it too is getting dated (as is the whole truck). but why just the 22 limited? and they wouldn't trade it in to swap to a new interior at competing brands.
Everyone trading it in because after the warranty is up you'll be sad with the quality of major things going out way too fast. Lifters, oil pumps, piston rings....it's a junk brand, I hate how GM focused on finding ways to be sure planned obsolescence is happening so it's not worth keeping after 3 to 4 years. Funny GM talking about finally putting in the 10 speed transmission developed with Ford that Ford has been putting in for 5 years already(without the truck being fully loaded). Like the cheaper 6 and 8 speeds that they have class action lawsuits over and they still keep cheaping out on, on anything but fully loaded trucks. So yes, if you want a truck with an engine that's going to burn oil and knock and a transmission (most will not get the 10 speed) thats going to chug go head and buy the over priced junk GM is putting out.
Funny how nobody notices the real reason WHY😅 , I OWN ONE and it's completely shit. 2020 model . Engine has issues and I've took it in 3 times . 1st time the RPMS would Rev up all by them selves when I was on the freeway and would kick super hard when I put it in drive. Not to mention loud ticking noise constantly coming from the engine. 2nd time it was doing the same thing and they had the guts to tell me I had it on 4x4 HIGH and thats completely bullshit. I've been driving different brand trucks all my life as I am a contractor. I know better than to leave it on 4x4🤦♂️ 3rd time I took it in they told me the noise ok the engine is completely normal! What a joke! They have a bunch a recalls and I know a buddy of mine had one also with the same ticking sound and had to get his whole engine swapped. So I'm definitely applying for Lemon law after they told me that. Hopefully everything goes my way🤙
The company truck brand new Silverado 2022 36xx miles and won’t turn off?.. we pushed the off button and the engine is still running! What is up with these?
I really don't mind the previous interior to be honest. Ya sure its a bit dated but I actually enjoy the simplicity of it. I will however be looking at getting into a newer Colorado or Canyon.
Rather interesting… The old style should be discounted at least 5K..I wish the old days were back when I would go to a dealer and they would discount the truck 5K to 10K without haggling….. i’m one of the few who believes those days may return…🤔😳
Those days will return when people learn how to vote.
They will be discounted at the end of the year.

The real reason everyone should get rid of them is due to the faulty lifters used for the DOD system and the faulty torque converters. These issues destroy the motors which is why GM is currently being sued.
Agreed
Now there's a real reason. This video missed the mark in terms of identifying any reasons.

@@bobby3944 OK just wondering what was horrible about the 2022 Silverado interior ?
Yup super obvious. The older version just sucked as a modern truck. It basically had an identical interior to a 2018 Chevy.
Personally, i prefer the old generation. Less to go wrong electronically and mechanically
I get you he says that people are trading in 2022 on the new ones they most of wanted that new interior pretty bad cuz you they took a major hit on that trade
I’d prefer the projector LED housings in the new trucks vs the non projector version. Projector lenses direct the light better.
I added LED lights (and readjusted.) Far superior to halogens in the projection lenses.
I ordered the Ltd on Halloween, got I before Christmas I couldn't be happier with it. I'm not a fan of a console shifter in a truck
Have fun with the 3.0 duramax. It has major design flaws, I'm surprised they are still putting it in trucks
@@SD-fs2zq I thought they had good luck with this engine compared to others, also duramax must not have the cylinder deactivation.

Agreed Shawn. I just bought the same one. Simplicity is key

The best truck is the one that is already paid off haha
Honestly I would keep the 2022 if you have no issues with it or anything looks good on the outside could live with interior
I have a 2022 LTD with 6" lift, leather seats, spray in bed 7 years 100K B to B Never pay for oil as long as I own the truck. Its and Awesome truck we love it. oh and I have a Killer Stereo
2022 LTD Z71, 7yr 85k bumper to bumper with oil changers for life, road hazard, and roadside assistance. love the truck
Yes after seeing the interior in the video here I see what you are saying
Traded in my 2020 Silverado LTZ last month for a 2022 F150 King Ranch Powerboost. From powertrain to interior there is no comparison to the Fords. I was a huge fan boy of chevys for 10+ years but the 5.3 with afm and 8 speed transmission was terrible and most people who have drove one will agree with me. Interior features and quality are not comparable. I know the new refreshed Silverado looks a lot better inside but it's fun to try something else. Also I have the powerboost hybrid with 650 miles per tank and the 2.4kw generator which is a game changer!!
The 6.2 10 speed in GM products is fantastic. I too am a fan of the powerboost, it’s got serious get up and go
not a fan of the ford exterior
…for the time being
Exactly correct
When did the new change happen 2023 ? Wife got one and it looks awesome inside LT

What complete sister allows you to run at v8 at all times
@Subconsciously in ya head
The lifters still failed on cylinders 4 and 7 even with the device.
No long crank?
@@jd03ctd long crank can be fixed by a update to software. It is believed to have been due to a few “bent” teeth on the exciter wheel. With the update to software, the computer will count more teeth before “starting”. It gives the truck like a .5 second longer crank overall, but no more missed starts. More info is available online about it if you’re interested.
Basically, it turns out it can be ‘fixed’ easily and without pulling the truck apart =)
i got the Z71 for that 2 spd.....shame it doesnt come standard
Two people that I'm aware of that have the 3.0 Durmax started having transmission problems around the 50k mark.
Lester Parker I've never understood that attitude from people. "I had one bad experience from one model car and I'll never buy from that company again". Every car company has the occasional bad apple.
@@IAmMoparNut it’s not “one bad experience”. It’s happened to thousands of people. I live in a small town and the tech said he does a couple every month and has for years. It’s a pretty common issue and GM doesn’t care enough to fix it
Enjoy that new truck, Jason! That's a sweet rig!
@@lesterparker1594 a simple afm / dfm disabler fixes the issue but of course people don’t research what they buy until it breaks do what I did and research what’s wrong with cars before hand and fix them yourself adding a trans cooler bypass and adding the afm disabler my Sierra has ran amazing
Wife has the 2023 LT and I think the inside is gorgeous
Titans are garbage, but continue....
@@kyrosavoy3984 I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, sometimes the truth does sting! Seek some professional counseling and a new teddy bear! 😂
@cudafish9594 lol, I have a 2018 titan that has been nothing but trouble, as are most...just give it time😉😊

Still running strong?????
This Chevrolet Silverado is a awesome truck you can take it off road and you can put any thing. You can wrap up put a light bar on it make it your own truck
I bet a lot of people are trading in for the same reason I just did... the used Market is ridiculously inflated as well. If you can get a halfway decent deal on a new one and make a ton of money on the old one, why not?
They should discount the limited a bit more and then they will move much quicker.
The mountains in the background are so majestic!
If they discounting the older one more I would buy one. Maybe they will if they sit long enough
RST 5.3 4X4 with 41k truck has been solid. Just did a 1,400 mile road trip. Truck has been good. I change oil religiously every 3k. We'll see at 100k
Unless you can make up the difference for tax, title, registration, etc there's no way you would come out ahead TRADING that truck for a new one "at the same price." They will bend you over on trade value then you pay all the terms pricing and gonna lose big
Actually that’s not true, there is great value in used vehicles still because dealers don’t have any.

Big mistake, should of bought the Ford, way superior truck to GM junk 😂
We got the 2023 Lt 2.7 seems really nice so far and low end to urge is awesome
I'll take the Ram w analog gauges over the GM refresh, also prefer the 5.7
Amen brotha!
Definitely that over the Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra if I can't buy the Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra, hell I'll take a Nissan Titan.
I am building a Silverado on the Chevrolet website and one of the things that is really annoying is you can't get the max trailering package with the 3.42 gears with the Z71 off road package.
Love my 2022 Trailboss LTD with the 6.2 everything I need.
I got nothing from this. Normal mid cycle refresh, but I didn't hear a compelling reason lots of people are trading out 22s for 23s. Just speculation without substance.
I got rid of my 2019 because I didn’t trust it for the long haul!!!!
The Sierra is so superior in the looks department.
That’s an opinion at best. I know many who say the same exact thing about Chevy. I think it comes down to personal preference…
@@kenna.9368 yes it is but those that think the Chevy is better looking are wrong.
@@blutomindpretzel263 lol another opinion
I would never buy a GM product, but I totally agree. Chevy looks like crap and the GMC is way better.

5.3 sucks..6.2 only way to go with Silverado..expensive yes but you got power without going super big
Am retired General Moters Assembly line employee 35 Years. Wouldn't have a New Truck. To expensive, Built cheep. You can not work on it yourself. Bought my 71 GMC longbed pick up from an Auto Auction 10 years ago. 401. Put a Elderbrock Manifold and 650 carb on it. Installed a 5 Speed. 3/4 ton. Love my Truck. Got it for 23.000. Good luck 🇺🇸🏁🌄
it comes down to evolving, you either evolve or die, and this truck is bland and boring compared to its competitors, especially with the price tag consumers want more bang for there buck!
I've had a high country for 90k miles. other than the water based paint, no problems.
That would be the "Chevy Shake"! Just about every GM truck built from 2014-2018 was a vibrating shitbox at higher speeds.
@@BamaTidefan1967 Exactly!!!
They repainted my '89 stepside. It was a primer issue back then
I tried one out. Can't figure out why anyone would buy one. 5.3 is slow, interior is 2nd rate. Didn't handle very well either. Bought a new F150...LOVE IT!
This is happening to a lot of people.
Did the same thing. A friend of mine bought a 2021 Silverado RST and I bought a 2021 F150. Couldn’t look past the Chevy interior…which has basically been unchanged since 2015. Love my Ford!
Hope the spark plugs don't shit out while you're driving, or it doesn't catch fire sitting in your garage.
Fords interior looks like a federal prison cafeteria, but buy what ya like
The 5.3s have been problematic for 3-4 years.Keeping my 2020 RST.Not lookin to pay 20% more for Flex Pro and bigger screen.I went 6.2 and it also has issues.Specifically valve body
Good luck getting any warranty work done at a Chevy dealership. Chevy is one of the most arrogant dealerships that could care less about its customers. I will never buy another Chevy, highly recommend no one else does until Chevy starts caring about its customers.
I've never experienced that issue.
@@EJChevy me neither. But in my country dealers depend on repeat customers and want to keep you happy. Warranty is only as good as the dealership.
I would buy a Toyota over a Ford because I like fuckin manga.
Yeah, I have a 2020 gmc 1500 elevation model and it does feel very unstable driving on potholes or bumps. Almost like you're gonna lose control

I had a 2019 5.3 trail boss and transmission and vibration issues. I traded it in for a 2023 zr2 silverado 6.2 big boy engine. Worth the $76,000
It’s because the interiors in the older models are absolutely atrocious
new interior is the reason.
Hopefully everything goes my way🤙
I was driving through farm country and visited a Chevy dealership, it had a 6.2 liter 4 x4 there for 67K do those trucks have the issues as well?
I know i won’t be trading in my 21 Lunar Rock Toyota Tundra TRD PRO anytime soon.
My 2020 is running great no problems with anything 40,000 miles
Is it because everyone is starting to notice the goofy mirrors??
Simple they want the 13” touch screen with the digital dash!! And the upgraded interior seats it’s that simple. The stars shot across the screen
They should 'dump' the old model to Australia- 12 to 18month wait list here.
Nice comparison... It is plain and simple the interior of the new gen finally match the exterior (great looking truck).
