    UPDATE ON THE FRONT END WOBBLE: I replaced my stock WP steering damper with a Muopo progressive steering damper and it has made a world of difference. Also, I noticed that when my front tire gets below 37 psi, it does not run near as well on grooved pavement. Keeping the pressure at 38 psi has stopped all head shake.

      Tonight I switched to auto suspension mode from "comfort", which I like on the street. I challenged the system by adding a passenger and it handled everything well. What was REALLY nice was the automatic preload settings, including the high setting, which helped keep the bike steering really nicely despite a little extra weight over the rear. The only thing I didn't test was how auto mode adapts to a brisker pace, which I'll investigate next. ;-) It sounds like y'all are impressed and I'm interested to try it out.

    As for the OEM steering damper, you can pull it off and change the oil in it to a thicker viscosity to stiffen it up enough so it actually does something. Instead of spending a arm and a leg for a aftermarket

      I have to say that as a new rider it’s probably best to wait. It’s not always the power that gets you in trouble. Sometimes it’s just having the experience to know how to corner at high speeds or realizing that it’s easy to go fast, that’s just horsepower, it’s not always easy to slow down as much as you need too.

  • @randallbrown9901
    @randallbrown9901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the video! I picked up my Evo 4 days ago and agree with everything you said, including the color, which I love….. but the quick shifter????? Like you, I also own a BMW 1250 GS and it’s much smoother up and down, so I must have a setup problem if yours feels like “butter”. I purchased the bike with the full tech pack and the quick shift+ option is available in the menu, but if this is it, it’s crap. 🤬 After just 240 miles I’m headed back to the dealership to diagnose. Also, I have to get the suspension settings right for the street. Uncomfortably rigid compared to the BMW. Plan on using the bike for the track, nonetheless, it’s so fun I see myself doing more street riding than I expected. 🤣🤣🤣 Not a substitute for longer trips though, so the BMW is still the king!!!

    • @CurtisBrandt
      @CurtisBrandt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I’ve got a new EVO as well, and the quick shifter is “occasionally” smooth. As with my 2019 SAS, I use a little clutch with my quick shifter most of the time.
      Consider “comfort” suspension mode for the street. It’s still plenty stiff and much stiffer than the same mode on the SAS. I need to get more seat time on it, and try auto mode some more, too.

    • @upshiftingadventures4034
      @upshiftingadventures4034  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with everything you said. It's not at all a long range machine. Definitely need to have something like a GS for the super slab. I just the other day developed a problem with my SD quick shifter where it doesn't want to upshift from 2nd to 3rd under hard acceleration at high RPM's. However, aside from that, the shifter has been silky smooth. I find that mid to high range shifting under hard acceleration, and low range shifting under very little throttle seem to be best. Interesting that your BMW has such a great shifter, mine leaves a lot to want for!

      Same here guyz i got the evo 3 months ago with wp steering damper and tried many times changing with suspension settings and still wobble on different speed
      also the quick shifter not the best many times go to neutral also on high speed doesn’t shift smoothly or the gear number disappear from the screen so you have to change the gear up or down again to get it back

    • @CurtisBrandt
      @CurtisBrandt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MAHDi-ph1wl I've had the last problem you mention, seeming "in between gears", on my '19 SAS between 2nd and 3rd (I think) a few times. Doesn't seem to be worsening and happens mostly when I'm being lazy with my boot. Most of the time it shifts great. I still need to put some miles on the new EVO to comment on that transmission but the quickshifter isn't too smooth. Other bikes (sold my 2017 SDR and current 2019 SAS) shifted better on full throttle and high rpm than low rpm and load. I've not ridden my EVO hard yet (still breaking in and riding with a new rider on a new 200!). What do you mean by wobbling at different speeds? The EVO should be dead stable.

    Looking at getting a superduke myself. I'm set on the gen 3 but not set on the evo or not. Would you say it's worth the extra money? Also I own a 1250 gsa myself. Have you found yourself going to the duke more? Do you still enjoy riding the gs?

    • @upshiftingadventures4034
      @upshiftingadventures4034  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the Evo suspension is worth the extra dough. It’s so nice to be able to switch damping modes based on the riding you’re doing. It’s also nice to be able to adjust the preload so easily. I find myself in auto-high most of the time because I like the raked look, but it is really tall for a sport bike so the option to lower it some is pretty cool. As for the GS, I do find myself jumping on the Duke for in town trips more often now, but if I need carrying capacity I have the option for the BMW. And of course for the longer rides it is my go to.
