He seems like an amazing coach! Great human who can listen to you and make you feel good, and at the same time he understands physiology at a deep level. What a guy, reminds me of one of my old coaches when I was young.
Hi Allie from an older Alaskan who remembers when you were in high school and having so many successes. My heart hurts that you were experiencing such a tough time and no one knew. I'm so happy for you that you have such a healthy mindset now and I'm rooting for you no matter what!! ❤
EDs thrive in secrecy which is part of what makes them so dangerous. I'm very fortunate to have an amazing support system that has helped me change directions :)
fueled will always be faster. It's comforting to know that David believes that wholeheartedly while also being incredibly knowledgable on all of the latest sports science.
Allie! I have never been nor will I ever be an elite runner. But. Since starting to watch your videos in the last six months, I have started running again after about a six year break. Living in that 10 minute mile club but watching your videos has brought back the joy and finished the self-criticism that had been keeping me from running. So thank you! So much enjoy watching your story.
You are a HUGE inspiration for me! Thank you for everything you are doing. I’m an athlete you is struggling with food and watching you makes me feel seen and understood. I love you from the bottom of my heart and I hope you know how inspiring you are ❤️
Allie you've always been one of my favorite athletes to watch, not just for your versatility and immense talent, but you spirit as a person and sense of humor. When you were struggling through your injuries and ed I was really rooting for you to work towards the place you are now, mentally. I absolutely love David as a coach especially at this point in your journey, because he is one of the rare ones that allow athletes to realize who they are in their sport and tap into that passion and none of the other bullshit. I think his mindsets and outlooks are perfectly aligned with what you're overcoming and totally killing recently.
Allie you’re so inspiring to me! I’m a hs runner with amenorrhea and watching your videos makes me feel like I can run like you someday if I put my mind to it
This video is an absolute gem. There’s a lot of noteworthy phrases coming from unrehearsed conversations within it. You might want to consider doing more videos like this but make it uncut because even silent moments can be insightful - it would be like we are running with you two beside us.
Awesome run! So glad David healed from his injuries and was able to run with you. So exited to see more of your altitude camp! Keep up the great work! 💪
Hi Allie, it's so helpful to hear you & your (awesome) coach talk about working through toxic behaviors/habits. I'm a poet/musician/artist, and a healthy body and mindset are important to my work as well. And consistent training--constantly reaching for that place where my emotions & thoughts become words or images or sound. 🦋
having a healthy body and mindset is important for everyone, but sometimes it is sacrificed. It's really great to have a coach who fully understands that.
She’s chatting easily at sub-7 miles…good gravy. I feel like a gazelle at 9:30 miles! Either way, it’s the same joy for both, right? I have my own little victories at my speed, just like Allie does at hers. We both feel proud and fulfilled when we do our best!!
Great video. I did a Whole30 a couple years ago. One thing I realized is that in those 30 days I was on it, I was out of gas on my runs after about 1.5 to 2 miles. Underscores the criticality of fueling. Food is fuel. Especially for an athlete, and especially even moreso for an endurance athlete.
Comforting, open energy. And wow, I'm simply impressed by the topics discussed on such a long, hilly run! I tend to be on the "all blood rushing to my muscles" boat, loosing the train of thought when running
Absolutely love your content. Such an inspiration to see you push yourself every day and overcome your struggles. You seem like you have a superb mentor and coach in David. As far as the haters, you have a great attitude about them. Don't let them get you down. Some are just bitter.
Thank you for telling your story so candidly. You’re a true inspiration and your content helps me through tough moments, since I’m currently not allowed to run (used to run 70-100k a week…) in early ED recovery. Videos like this one make it easier to grow the healthy side in me stronger❤
Excellent and inspiring video as always! And thanks to a patient Spencer who captured all the video! And David is truly a wonderful human and coach! Very lucky to have him, Allie!
So proud of you! You’re looking so strong! 💪 I hope you get in some hurdle training and maybe can even do some steeplechase time trials before the Olympic Trials 😊. Glad you found a great coach for you too!
Thanks for that run. Ever since DeCastella in the 80s I’ve wondered what the mythical Magnolia rd was like. And what a good coach you’ve got there. Class
When someone is running uphill at a 7:00mile pace and talking like they are walking up a hill you know they are fit as f*ck. Also, David and Jim Walmsley have a very similar stride and arm swing. I don’t know how similar they are in height, etc., but they both look extremely strong and efficient when running. Allie, you are a beast.💪😊
Amazing what your doing. My 13 year old boy, just started his TH-cam channel to show his journey trying to become a PRO RUNNER 🏃 (Running For my dream) so proud off him 😊
Awwh Allie, I loved this! You and your coach are AWESOME!! Allie you are such a huge inspiration, thank you for sharing your journey! Keep doing great things! Love you girl! ☺️ 🤗 ❤️
I hear in higher altitudes there are more spiritual energies , that maybe explains the more philisopical parts of the discussion starting around 15:10. It's good you put your content out there. You're my favorite channel. Right before Bill Burr and Louis C.K.
David is a great coach, and I can't believe that he is doing this run after the pics from the hospital and flying 100 feet after a car striking his road bike. Ohhh you cracked me up, when of your workout you had written "challenging=possibility of death", and with respect to running up those hills at altitude "okay = potentially I will survive", along with the universal reply while running of breathing heavily; as acknowledgment of whatever was said while you were sucking in oxygen. Now appearing live on stage that steeple chasing comedian, Allie O! You seemed very strong and relaxed on this run, and are doing so very well with what your coach shared, of having a really excellent aerobic buildup, followed by faster track intervals to peak at the Olympic trials. Your last race with everything you went through, your engine was very strong. Just regaining your natural motion for jumps and getting through the water swiftly, and some better positioning, and you will run your very best, and that could mean getting some more US team gear! I really enjoyed this format, and you and Spencer should do a podcast. You are right there is a greater dynamic with both of you, a synergy, that gives a result that is greater than the individual sums. I always thought that whomever was president should be interviewed while they jog, as that would be cool. Somehow I don't think that is going to happen for awhile! Just keep doing what you are doing, with great dedication and commitment to your training program, and I know your jumping form will be where you want it to be in the next few weeks, and you will have an amazing race. Have a good rest of your Sunday

Really really important points made about the menstrual cycle here. As someone who needs to take supplement estrogen due to damage to my ovaries, I didn’t learn about how important estrogen is for the bones, heart, sleep and mental health until my late 20s.
