I saw his other interviews saying he struggled being only mixed race child in his rural hometown. Not because of discrimination. He was very shy and felt unfit. His friends encouraged him playing sports and he became more confident and made him a quite popular!
In Japan, everyone not only biracial are allowing to decide using their mother or father's surname. sometimes the condition bc the mom is single daughter so they want their kids to take their surname
