I’m US born & raised of European descent. If Ireland, Switzerland, UK, and Germany allowed citizenship by descent back to 4th and 5th grandparents, I’d possibly be able to get passports for each of those countries…traced my ancestry to named ancestors from these countries; with place of birth and death…have traced back to the 1500s. I have enough info from my family tree to request birth certificates and other documentation; although, it could take some time and money. Unfortunately, the most any of the, aforementioned, countries allow is back 3 generations, which is great grandparents--unless I am mistaken. If anyone has different info, please let me know…..4th and 5th great grandparents are 6 and 7 generations back, respectively. In my case, these ancestors were born in the 1700s.

"...versus if you come with a Nigerian passport... things will be a lot harder because they see you as a threat or security risk..."
Damn, i felt that. A lot of us Nigerians are honest people who really just want to take care of our families, maybe see the world with our families and generally just get by. It's unfortunate the reputation the actions of a few have earned us over the years. This is not helped by having successive corrupt governments in power.

TBH, I've been waiting for 7 months already for my real estate registration, and my agent is telling me it'll likely take 1.5 years based on the latest stats. Permanent Residency means the access to live permanently till you die in the country
let's say someone is a permanent resident in Australia, it means he can live in Australia as long as he wants
      on the other hand,
a Passport lets you travel to many countries that's not automatically make you able to live in the country you go to especially for a long time
