    Good video. Well explained. I have all lights working except left indicator. There is no seperate white ground wire from the indicator assembly to connect to body of tralier. The white wire runs straight out of the unit to connect to main wires. If it is a ground/earth problem wouldn't the brake and tail lights not work?

    Thank you so much for the video, it's very clear and informative! I'm just wondering why the green wire running through the trailer cable from the left light is connected on the right-hand side - can you just cut it off and not connect it to anything?

      @@EFFICIENTSELF I have another question, I hope you don't mind! I'm going to attempt to rewire an old box trailer that has new lights on it, but the lights only have 3 wires - no earth wire. So how do I earth them?

    • @EFFICIENTSELF

      There must be some sort of earth point on the lights . Attach a wire to this point and ground to the chassis and/or earth wire

    Well, my brake lights aren't working, and even running a separate wire to them doesn't work. Not sure what the problem is, all the other lights work. Might get some led lights, and then perhaps a new plug worst case. Trial and error I suppose.

    • @EFFICIENTSELF

      Yes left light you connect left indicator to yellow wiring (5 core) and right you connect indicator to green wire ( 5 core) the rest of the wiring you connect the same eg brown,tail….red ,stop etc hope this helps 👍🍻

    • @nameian777
      @nameian777 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the reply. Also discovered that the earth connected to the trailer should be not far from the plug, say half a meter if it’s connected down near the tail lights. Say 2meters from the plug it’s ineffective.

    Not all 7-pin and 12-pin flat plugs will work together.
    The door on 7-pin sockets typically open vertically and latch onto the plug while 12-pin sockets open laterally and retain onto the side of the housing.
    Also be aware that 7-pin round plugs may be wired to either ISO-1724, ISO-3732 or AS-2513. These standards are not interchangeable, Australian and New Zealand trailers should always be wired to AS-2513 (AKA NZ-2513).
    To make matters more confusing pin 2 on AS-2513 plugs may be labeled as "AUX" and pin 5 may be labeled as "FOG" especially on trailers that aren't fitted with Reverse Lamps or Electric Brakes.
    Finally, 12-pin wired trailers may use non-standard connections for pins 8, 9, 11 and 12.
    Some trailers manufacturers even use non-standard wiring for Aux power, breakaway sense and Hydraulic Brake Pump.
