I've known Coil forever but could never really get into them. Sitting here in self-isolation during a nationwide lockdown during a wordlwide pandemic in 2020 this music suddenly makes perfect sense to me and I can't stop listening to it. Thank you.

Came on board recently. This is an amazing performance that makes me wish I had found Coil much sooner and could've seen them play their rituals and meditations live.... What a loss.

but it has a certain Ian Curtis thing about it... as does his dancing. And beardwise think of Jim Morrison, curiously. BUT, like Curtis and Morrison, fabulous singing, fabulous presence.
Not really but anyway there were (what Other people call) "hipsters" around since the late 90's, if there must be that tired comparison. (That term has been in use since the nineteen forties but that's another discussion....) ;-)
Look for a torrent of colour sound Oblivion box set. It's the only way you can get this. Spans their career, audio, video, background images, everything

Might be true but it was Peter who did most of the heavy lifting as far as creating the actual music. Jhonn was the lyricist and an idea man but relied pretty heavily on Peter and in varying degrees other temporary members and guests to manifest the actual sounds and compositions. Peter was merely saying that the original concept/vision for the band and perhaps final say on material was Jhonn's - though I'm sure it wasn't as strict as all that judging from all that I've read. but make no mistake, Pete is essential and irreplaceable to Coil's sound.
@@NOWtheband I think there's room in an ever-expanding universe for both.Just as there was when Coil covered Tainted Love....COIL gave these tracks their own unique spin. And i loved all 2 previous versions of tainted love.
I dare to write, that this band has a certain similarity, with throbbing gristle that I do not doubt that it is an influence, at least what Coil band is not new. It offers us. Greetings from Mexico.
