I've bought almost brand new canon m50 mkII recently with the kit 15-45. I did not think it through and I've made a mistake of buying this adapter (2nd hand) and paired it with Canon EF 100-300 mm f/4.5-5.6. USM. I could have bought second hand 55-200 which was slightly more expensive than the adapter+100-300mm. I watched some reviews and now i understand Canon's philosophy for this system. All the Ef-m lenses are thought out for this system quite well, not too big nor too soft. It seems pointless to buy this adapter if you do not have a collection of older DSLR (crop and full-frame) lenses from other canon cameras. With this camera system it is better to invest only in Ef-m lenses. The price and quality and most importantly compactness of these lenses perfect for this system. Ef-m lenses offer all the necessary focal length and are compact. Adapting bigger, better Canon lenses just defeats the purpose of this sytem. Also third party offerings are not worth the price compared the Canon's, even if these third party lenses offer wider aperture, they still lose in everything else from sharpness to colours. It is better to save up for original Ef-m lenses that are either brand new or at least second hand in good condition.
I agree, a small mirrorless camera, like the Canon M50 mkII, looses an important advantage when we mount an adapter + a dslr lens on it. It looses the small size and adds to the weight. I also made quite a lot of unnecessary purchases, I admit, and the problem isn`t yet 100% resolved - bought a lot of dslr lenses. This thing happens to many photographers. In time, we learn what works best for us. In the mean time, we must do the most with what we have. Enjoying the process will always be our best win. Regarding the extra-unnecessary lenses, we can always sell them and get only the 2-3 most important lenses that work for us.
Hi, nice and useful video. I own a Canon T100 camera and I have Minolta digital lenses. What is the appropriate adapter for the camera to use the lens?
Hi! Thank you for your thoughts! That is a tough question. I did some Google searching and found out that " Sony acquired its Digital Camera line from Minolta about 10 years ago. The Minolta Maxxum autofocus lenses were called "A-Mount" ("Alpha") lenses, and Sony continued to use the same mount for their initial Sony rebranded Alpha digital camera line." So I`m guessing that an adapter that fits Sony lenses on Canon cameras will work. Sony, being a more popular brand, will get you closer to the solution while searching. I am not familiar with Sony/Minolta. Sony has the E-Mount and A-Mount - they are different things. While Google searching more I found a discussion "Why I can't find an A-mount to Canon EF Adapter?" - it`s a big chance that this solution doesn`t exist. I tried - hope it was useful! If someone here, in the comments section can give a better answer, that would be great!
It doesn't have any optical elements, so it doesn't affect the final image. In this case, the crop factor is given only by the aps-c sensor size, 1.6x (as usual).
The lenses will work fine in terms of autofocus on both adapters, original or third party. The only issue with third party adapters that I saw, is the paint inside the adapter. The Canon has a nice matte black, while the third party adapters, inside, they also have a black surface, but it is more reflective. This will cause reflections inside, while the lens is attached to the camera via that third party adapter. This is the main thing/issue. Hope it helps!
Hello, do you maybe know which is the size of the hole in the adaptor? I would like to remove the base stand and use it on the tripod with a fast attaching plate I bought, but seems the screw is too large
Hello, I tested it out right now with my fast attaching plate that has a normal 1/4" screw, found on most plates or tripod heads. Unfortunately, it doesn`t go in, the hole in the adaptor is too small.
I wonder if you can help me. I have a old BMPCC camera and a canon EF speedbooster attached. I am wondering. can a lens like the Kamlan 21mm f1.8, eos M mount attach to an EF speedbooster. Lens is all manual, I don't need any electrical focus or aperture connection.
If that Kamal 21mm is for EOS M mount, it won't work on the EF speedbooster. The lens mount is too small for it. The speedbooster will take only EF lenses, that are larger.
All your videos are SUPER useful, sir. Thanks!
Glad you like them!

I literally found this for 49 dollars! It’s INCREDIBLE
That's a good price! Enjoy it!
Nice overview!
Glad to hear that! Thank you!
I use the viltrox adapter on my EOS-M

Does the adapter have a crop factor?

Have you reviewed third party adapter? Any recommendations?
