I’m not into wigs but what do that have to with your intelligence?💀 they just being mean worried about what somebody else doing. I don’t care about women wearing wigs because I don’t wear them so it has nun to do with me.
@ we live in a free world if you want to chase after vanity that’s not my business. I can only live life in a way that feels right to me. Can’t worry about what someone else doing.
I wish you can dive deeper on how African movies and series depict the association of natural hair with poverty, depression, someone who is uncivilized, someone who lacks home training or the helper.....it's such an unspoken elephant in the room not only Nigerian movies do it I see it on Netflix with content from my own country South Africa and other Africans countries on Netflix, Dstv and showmax
I strongly suspect that these writers may be forced to write like that, by r*cist and money hungry network owners and sponsors. After all, the wig and synthetic braiding hair industry is big big money so they will do whatever it takes to make sure we hate our hair or can't even wear it at all at certain jobs/schools because it is "untamed" and "unprofessional". This issue won't go away as long as we are living in a capitalistic and well... colonial society.
@Azanianprince That may be true sometimes but it's not always the case, I've seen us be an embarrassment to our ppl very often for free and not even asked to. I think It's mostly internalized r*cism .
We need to stop blaming others. In South Africa the aim initially was to look like black American women (this still happens and the desire is still there). The great thing about the continent is that not everyone chooses to wear wigs, financially secure or not.
@@ckngivdtb37910 I hear your point but it doesn't change the fact that they depict natural hair with the above that I've mentioned....the message and representation matters alot and I don't see Americans associate characters who have natural hair in the manner that I've mentioned which clearly shows that they know how they want to be depicted and represented in a larger scale globally so where did we Africans learn to associate natural hair with the above that I've mentioned in the initial comment because Americans don't do it since you're saying we want to be more like them in America rather all characters have wigs their not dedicated to a specific character and most importantly class they have wealthy people in their series and movies who will play with their natural hair sometimes braids but with us it's always exclusively to the one who is in poverty, who has no class, lacks home training or depressed....its our mindset we didn't learn it from America we even do it with shades of skin too the dark ones are associated with the above I've mentioned and the employer or owner of the house is mostly lighter then the helper or the ones of lower class

It's wild for you to call women who wear frontal wigs stupid when you work in an industry that badly portrays women with natural hair. The anger and frustration in that video were so strange to me. This was displacement at its finest. I don't wear any types of wigs, but I've never been angry nor frustrated at people who wear wigs.
@@meagain9649 you’re not going to fix this issue that’s why it’s best to just mind your business. you can’t control what other ppl are doing that’s why the think pieces are a waste of time. some ppl prefer how they look with a wig on and it is what it is.
All different races of women wear wigs but only black women get flack for it! I do agree that black women should wear wigs that mimic their own texture so you can have some leave out and look effortless. A textured kinky wig looks sooooo pretty imo ♥
I’ve only seen them wear realistic textures. I’ve never seen other races put on a 4c wig. But we put in unrealistic textures our hair can’t blend with, unrealistic hair lines, the screen door in the part, and that crusty white hairline with the ugly edges. It doesn’t help that people think we can’t grow hair when I actually think the vast majority can
Everyone has a choice if that is what some women want to wear leave them. Some of you are too caught up in what others are doing it has nothing to do with you let people make their own decisions . If they want to relax their hair, wear wigs , go natural , go bald that's their choice .Another sign of low self esteem is putting down other women because they made their choice .
You'd have to have some really terrible superiority complex to call anyone who wears lace frontal wigs stupid. I don't like or wear lace frontals and I don't even wear closures cause I don't have any good ones, but I wouldn't insult those who do so. In my experience as a natural girl, it's usually the thick, fast hair growth, thick scalp density 4c natural girls who have something negative to say about other's natural hair. They're always the ones trying to put other naturals down for being brenya( a term in Ghana for someone who doesn't have fast hair growth or thick hair). Maybe some women wear wigs especially lace frontals because the only way they can get the mean naturals off their backs is by wearing wigs that cost an arm and a leg. Or maybe some women just like the look of lace frontals and don't hate themselves. Everyone has their preferences and I don't think it's right to insult other women for not liking what you like or doing as you do.
13:39 😭 this is so true. When I decided to cut my relaxed hair in 2020, I held it in my hands for a while. It was like someone died, I didn't throw it away for a long time. Anytime I see the styles I've abandoned from the frontals to certain braids, I started second guessing myself.
I’m really about to jump on the transracial train I don’t even want to identify as a black woman anymore every time I turn around we disrespecting another for the most outrageous and outlandish thing from the bonnets to the wigs to the natural hair it’s ridiculous 🤦🏾♀️I don’t see other races of women doing this to each other…I truly look forward to the day we are delivered from whatever demon this is 🤦🏾♀️
It’s history, maybe even Jim Crow, colonialism and even survival in todays superficial world. If my hairstyle based on location helps me sustain self and family instead of lowering my chances at employment or earning potential even if self employed, imma do it for my descendants.
When you are the one of the only black women in any given room who actually wears their own natural hair, you get so many compliments. And I am left wondering why these beautiful sisters don’t wear their natural hair. It saddens me.
My dear, I've been seeing your channel and I've decided to subscribe finally. 😂😂😂 The intro was wild 😂😂😂. It's not bad to wear wigs obviously, but it's the obsession, like sleeping with a wig😢 if it's not sown in then you should take it off. Why are you running to carry a wig because a camera is on? I took 3 wigs from my mom to wear in the next 2 wigs, it's because I've done some cornrows and I'm a teacher, no money or time till December 13th. My colleague pulled her wig off in school last week 😂😂 and it inspired me because I don't have patience for the heat and stress.
If you are interested in the perspective of a white woman who has always admired the hair of black women, here you go. Hair is an antenna. It's our antenna to the divine realms. If you study the laws of electromagnetism, you will learn about the law of squares. Every time you coil a wire, it squares the power of the wire. Apply this to hair. Coiled or curled hair makes a much better antenna than straight hair. And I think that is very obvious when you look into the world of spirituality. It is very obvious to me that black women are more spiritually advanced than any other women on earth. And that's how we get out of here through spiritual advancement. White people think it's technological advancement. That could not be further from the truth. When I was a kid, most black women had Afros. To me, those were the most beautiful women because no one else looked like them. And they wore their hair like a literal crown. If I could have any hair in the world, it would be an Afro, no matter how much maintenance it takes. I wouldn't care because I'd be so excited. My hair is straight and flat and fine, and I can only do like three things. I've tried everything. I don't hate my hair, I love it. But if I had my choice, I would have an Afro every day. I cannot wait until this wig trend goes back to the drag queen's where it came from, to make room for all of the magical hair y'all have! Your hair is literally magical. It produces magic. That is not hyperbole, that is a scientific fact. 🤍🤍

Exactly! Like why was she so angry with what other women decide to do with their own hair!? So weird
This is why black women can’t just be cordial with one another, the judgement is never ending.
Trying to better society and make money love themselves more is NOT judgemental... its like telling bullies not to bully people is that judgemental?
