The fact that the actors were young and inexperienced was the reason the show worked so well, the performances were natural. When anyone wants to watch anything with good voice work, I always refer them to Downtown.
What he says about collectivism, I feel the same way. I believe the main culprit is technology and social media... now we no longer have a need to be social face to face, and as a result, we maintain a cold distance. Anyways, this interview was important to me. He really has a wealth of knowledge and is very humble and genuine about it all.
Glad to see my question answered because I truly wanted to know how most of the vocie actors felt after the shows ending/canceling. Thank you some much!
yeah I agree with him that a second season couldn't work. its been far too many years. we live in a technological era which was the charm (to us in this era) of downtown being in the analog 90s. now it just lives as a time capsule of energy and vibes that used to exist.
Another great interview! Marco really is a nice guy and a very humble spirit who is really connected to the show just like his fans. You think you can make an interview series involving the Downtown cast and crew?
Commenting for the giveaway!! I chose to comment over here because Fruity was always my fave character. I even named my cat after him lol. I learned about Downtown through the CKS Richardson videos and it quickly became my favorite animation style ever. I wish it didnt get cancelled!! but I am so thankful it's available to watch today
I’m so glad you’ve taken the time to dig deep online and find more info on this show… I saw it on mtv in the early 2000s but never really understood it like how I do now because I recently came across it again because of a clip I had seen online. back then all I knew at 3-4 yrs old was that I liked it because it was a cartoon but it resembled urban city life culture that was still like that around 2003 and was realistic to an extent with relatable characters and Fruity and Matt are most definitely my favorites because they were skaters and Matt was into graffiti… i grew up loving skateboarding because of my older brother introducing me to Tony Hawk games back then so to me it was like they’re two regular city kids that like skateboarding and Matt is more chill so I can relate more to his personality. And to see that you’ve tracked down some of the voice actors for interviews dope af thanks for doing this for us fans. And I fw your channel as a whole because I’ve always been interested in nyc culture but have never been and get to get a glimpse of the culture in your videos. And a season 2 whether it’s set in the year of 2000 or years later giving more background on each of the characters would be great
i thought this was an interview that this guy did ages ago where he came off as 'fruity' and everyone called him the fruity guy and now we're meeting him again and getting his take on being called fruity.
Great interview! I've been a fan of this show since the days of it airing on Much Music back in the early 2000s. It was on very late at night and not many people knew about it. Just my two cents, but I always felt a viable way for the characters to continue would be in comic book form. The show could definitely translate to that format successfully.
This was really gratifying to behold, EnWaiSee. Truly.🙏🏾 After watching this interview, I feel like I really had an encounter with Marco in person, and I marginally got to know him as a person. Very genuine person, wholesome, as well as, exceptionally speaks so eloquently. Just basing off the way he talks about his co-actors, you can tell he had fond memories with them during the show’s run and post mtv’s downtown. I just admire the way he speaks so fondly about all those who participated in making the show possible. He recognizes each of their talents and what they had to offer to the show. Even taking a step forward to want to have his co-actors featured in his upcoming projects and allow their innate talents or honed capabilities to permeate, once again. Moreover, you can tell he has a genuine interest in helping those who want to pursue voice acting flourish, as he offered to give information and advice (or numbering a list of “biggest takeaways”) such as, not listening to “toxic people” who have “no faith in you,” rather, “listen to your inner drive voice.”
It's funny how he kinda seems like the complete opposite of Fruity's personality. Very humble.
Well I would assume with age fruity would also become humble himself.
The fact that the actors were young and inexperienced was the reason the show worked so well, the performances were natural. When anyone wants to watch anything with good voice work, I always refer them to Downtown.
I hope you can get Matt now. As someone who has skated for years and has an appreciation for graffiti culture.. he was always the coolest.
I hope so too ⚡️
@@enwaisee hey bro are there any other characters you can interview?
Crazy decades later we are still talking about and finding out things about this cancelled show
I love his speech pattern. What a well-spoken guy!
Yeah! He’s very articulate and his vocabulary is also impressive!
One thing I liked about Fruity’s character were the numerous Tekken 3 references he made. Really a show of it’s time.
What a treat this was, we won't get a second series but at least we get content like this..
Cheers to all involved.
definately he is so right about the collectivism in the 90s.

You submitted a great question!
These interviews and videos are just great! If we can’t have another season of Downtown, well, this is maybe even better!
He is so right the snooping culture is really what gives us the connection to the show we all just want to go outside and see our friends by chance
I don’t care if it’s been 20 years, they need to make another one
Its so sad because the voice actors had a lot of potential to become top tier voice actors within the media
Right on! Fruity rocks!

There may be more interviews on the way…😉
it really should of never been canceled. it truly was a gem
I freaking LOVE THIS ! I just get so sad that there’s only 13 episodes 🙄💔💔💔💔💔💔
No way!!! Marco is the man!
Commenting for the giveaway!!

Huge respect man, thank you so much for providing us quality content!! Especially when there’s not much with downtown available 🙏

wooww what a great guy✨ spoke nothing but facts !!! agreed we need more collectivism & inclusivity 🤍☮️
great job !!! 🥳
Pretty cool
I figured Fruity will eventually settle down and get serious with Patty - she's the only one who was really into him.
I love mtvdowntown
cool
What an awesome interview! Marco genuinely was so sweet, honestly made me love fruity a bit more.
edit: misspelt name. fuck im tired.
3 hours ago wtf?
If they make a 2nd season someone else besides Alex needs to be the main character his storyline was annoying and overly sexualized🙄
Your channel is a gold mine!!! I love the cultures and youth of NY.
