Players sense the head coach and GM are snakes and phonies last season after letting multiple good players and coaches go and making shit up like they drafted tough smart dependable replacements (and hired stop-the-run DC), and being so cocky in Hard Knocks, but then reality hits this year, every position played like shit, and they got completely exposed. You dont score the lowest avg points per game just because bad QB play, the head coach is the main culprit for how each game is played (the Seattle and Browns wins are kudos to the head coach, team fought hard, but since then he just slowly lost the locker room and it became obvious that Daboll was lowkey throwing the QB under the bus to save his face) , and the GM is the culprit for having the players quit on the field this last game. They were treating the players and assistant coaches like commodities rather than individual human beings
That was not a great season by a qb by any reasonable standard. It was enough to give him another chance but not at 40 mil a year. Saquon Barkley carried him.

Michael Strahan even laughed at the notion of Eli being a vocal leader. And, Strahan pointed to Coughlin needing to change his coaching style or the season would be a waste.
