I think new characters get a bad rap. Leroy sucks but Jin sucks for the same reasons with the strings and parrys. Anytime they're -6 they can parry ( don't know how quickly the parry activate but roughly). I think Jim is as bad balance wise as leroy. HMM calls Katerina stance and gameplay eaay, if Harri er wasn't alright he would be saying she was terrible like gigas. I'm kinda saying that somethings work and don't work in tekken and sometimes the community agrees on 1 thing but doesn't agree on essentially the same issues with another character
My point with Katerina is that if she was DLC and her stance works everyone would call for nerfs and if harrier can be dickjabbed everyone would be calling for buffs on harrier. I don't know if harrier is any good but my point stands either way, the D LC gets different treatment
The problem with bob is what they wanted to do in t6 vs what we got Their concept was a sammo hung inspired character that had no problem with being overweight and works around that What we got was an obese american who is a stereotype for fat people and plays like mishima for some reason even though he is a tribute to a chinese kung fu master when it comes to his personality its just about speed and weight

So as far as I am concerned, this character is completely pointless and all he does is just inadvertently promoting unhealthy habits for people that may already be in a similar situation as him... except that they can't move around like freaking chimpanses, unlike him. Why the hell the game doesn't have pallet swaps I don't know. It surely wouldn't be too difficult to have OG Raven and Master Raven occupy the same character slot. Same with Bruce and Josie, same with Eddie and Christie, same with both the bears. I couldn't care less if they had identical hit-boxes and the exact same moves/data.
Totally agree, I don't play Raven but he was always a great addition to me. I appreciate having a black female character but it could have been someone else. At least give us a palette swap with the same moves
I disagree with Bob, he's definitely not like Rufus who's presented as a total slob, while Bob is presented in a more dignified way in his lore. I think he'll stay since he has a playstyle that is very Mishima-like. As Aris recently said, he's a different flavor of the Mishima playstyle, like how Sagat is a shoto like Ryu but different enough.
Bob has literally no personality and is a joke character. His entire premise is "speed and weight". His gameplay is literally an easy mode mishima, no identity of his own aside from easy mishima with evasion, which is boring as fuck. We have enough popular mishima likes, we have like Armor King who's awesome, we have Jin who has mishima stuff but is different in his own way, same for Kazumi. He is a joke, they just were too cowardly to actually make fun of the joke, which is even worse than just making him an idiot like Rufus or Birdie.

I'd bump Marshall for Forrest Law and give him a new look and add some prankster like elements to his style. This way not only did we bring back his son, but he also has more of his own identity sprinkled into his JKD so he wouldn't feel like a total dad clone.

@@iimduu9287 Marshall is getting pretty old along with Paul but Paul's style doesn't require as much athleticism or flexibility as Law's so this would be a good reason to bring back Forrest, to help his dad out with his debts and to prove to his dad that he CAN fend for himself.
its a useless swap, since marshal law is just tekkens version of bruce lee. Forrest is also an easy mode watered down version of marshal in prior games since no DSS cancel. You basicaly gain nothing by swaping them.

If gigas' default clothes were the egyptian ones ( preset 6 ) he couldve been more interesting and his backstory couldve been that he protected the tomb of azazel and was awaken when he was defeated or something. No moves belongs to anyone, since they have reclycled certain moves for other characters as well like Asuka's parry I think Nina has done as well, My point is Eddy is no better than Chloe, and if you're gonna complain about her, do the same to him, since they both play similiar with Eddy being more busted while Chloe is much more easier to defeat but that's just me.
Outside of generic design, Katarina does have good motivations to be in the game and are tied to Gigas. Who turns out to be her stepfather who disappeared and was at some point turned into the B.O.W. Gigas by G Corp. That for me is interesting enough. But yes the try-hard "look at how sexy I am" thing is unnecessary.
I honestly believe Leroy will make it back and Fahkumram won't. This comes from someone who loves the weight and impact of Ram's moves and is partial to the big, scary design. Leroy's design is just too cool.
Feel like a lot more than 5 characters are gonna be cut from 8. I hope all the new original dlc characters and the ones that got newfound popularity like kunimitsu stay .

I think Josies character development could be interesting. She’s so fragile and scary and boom, trains to be tough and hardcore. Models doing physical activities aren’t that uncommon either, so I think that was an interesting choice. I think that there’s a char for everyone in this game and Josie does represent a demographic. Kat, the bears, shaheen (oh, shaheen) Chloe, and gigas can definitely exit

I think the reason Shaheen has such a boring movests and story is that they didnt want to offend Arabs by making him do weird and unique moves. They played it very safe

I just think Bamco is lazy af and wanted to just give their ME community a shoutout. A very beginner friendly character, most of their new characters are pretty stale and have no real compelling motivations/goals, that's what the real root issue is with tekken in terms of character design.
I think gigas should be given dedicated high and mid parries that are extremely rewarding to make him less of a sitting duck than he is. Like one goes into goliath stance and you're massively plus, and the other they hit you and recoil and you get a free overkill throw or a true +12 frames or something like that. Also getting rid of most of the marduk influence but keep 1 or 2 moves. I would also give him a low from goliath that is massively plus and resets the goliath rushdown, it would be fairly damaging and only -10 or -11. I think these changes would make gigas really fun for a lot more people and make his gameplay really unique. Lucky chloe I would have her inputs change entirely to be very intricate. She would have mixups in her pressure by changing the button route and giving some buttons different timing than other. It would be like actually playing a DDR game in tekken. Also give her some annoying trolly ass ground attack or throw that stomps on them, and give her some more king like set up stuff. I think the characters that should be removed are the characters who have little potential to ever have a unique interesting gameplay, like shaheen in my personal opinion.
You realism argument of women not looking like a real-life fighter is rather strange. Especially that you play a character that literally turns into a devil and shoot laser beams - I am pretty sure MMA fighters never do that.
Hes not talking about what special powers the characters have, but how they look and what background they give, if you look at kazuya ( the character he plays ) , the guy is muscular and is wearing martial arts fighting clothes and gives off a serious vibe, if you look at the characters he complains about they dont give off any fighting vibe, the reason he likes lidia is because she has some muscle definition and some vibe going for her unlike the characters he was complaining about.

So for Lucky Chloe I think you could actually do something interesting with the Jpop/Kpop idol thing. Dont get me wrong, I hate her and her design and I would also immediately remove her from the game but the dancing fighter approach could be interesting. Like have her dance an actual choreography in her combos. Or let her have stance transitions like Lydia where she goes from one iconic KPop/Jpop music pose to another, stuff that fans of these music genres would recognize. I still wouldnt play her but I think stuff like this could make the character at least more unique. And on a personal note, it always hurts me when someone shits on Leo. I get that Leos movelist doesnt look interesting but to be honest there is a lot of cool stuff that you can do with the character. Leo has a surprising amount of hidden moves and cancels that are not in the movelist. I also think the design itself is extremely underrated. Leo is a perfect character for everyone just like they intended and a beginner character done right ( something the Tekken 7 newcomers have failed to do in my opinion ). Leo has all the tools you need in order to learn every aspect of the game. Stances, cancels, crouch dash mixups, a ton of parrys with different inputs and applications and so muc more. Her movelist offers a lot for new players to learn and the more advanced players can go for some high execution stuff with her KNK cancels or all the other shit the character can do. So while I understand that not many like or play her, I think if you dive deeper into what you can do with the character and reflect on the design intentions and how they pulled it off, she is a very well designed character in my opinion. Seeing a Leo expert go crazy is so cool to watch.

His usage rate suggests agreeance. 2. So does streetfighter: Ryu, Ken, Dan, Sakura, Makoto, Akuma and that doesn't include Ryu's master or Sean/Allen. No to mention calling those tekken characters simply karate fighters is overly simplistic. Jin-kyokushin, Kaz/Hei-fictional quasi 2d Mishima do, Lidia-Shotokan, Lee-JKD Shooto Box karate mix, DJ-Mishima Do on crack, and Paul-American Karate/kick box/ bill superfoot wallace/Joe lewis style. What you don't have is ISKA/Gym Kata/flippy style of karate which Bob already somewhat covers, albeit in a slightly ugly jokey way.

Applying this logic, I could argue that Josie shouldn't go as well, because she's a Filipino rep. Either their nationality and ethnicity matters or not! Look at Fahkumram, they took away Bruce, which was already stablished into this world and created this abomination story-wise and gameplay-wise just for the sake of having a Thai rep. and a Muay Thai practioner. I'm Brazilian, but personally, I wouldn't care if Eddy wasn't, just like Elena from SF is Kenyan, neither Angolan or Brazilian, countries from which Capoeira originated from. A nation owns its culture, but that doesn't mean it can't be appreciated by others. Bad representation is worse than no representation. Better the latter.

Bear OR Panda (Just because they're duplicates and both should be added in a Tekken Tag setting ONLY) 4. Shaheen (THANK YOU TMM. Shaheen is EASILY THE MOST FORGETABLE AND BORING character I've seen in a Tekken game) 5. Akuma (I don't think he fits in the Tekken storyline well, but that's just me). But if its playerbase loves him that much, then Claudio or Gigas are probably the 5th spot. This list isn't meant to be for "annoying" characters, but characters that are straight up boring, lazily made, dull, add nothing to the story.

An Arabic character alongside Zafina is cool, but he has no personality lol. Actually TMM Josie's lore was that her home was destroyed by a storm and she had to train in kickboxing and join the tournament to gain the money to fix her village. However, based her on design, in game personality, and story you never knew that(Did you know Josie was actually becoming a Tekken Force Member?). Katrina was actually supposed to be a badass bounty hunter(Who also lost her parents and become an orphan), again never would have known, they should've just went the full cowgirl western design with her. Hell all the newcomers should have gotten the Tekken 4 treatment lmao. That way just like in Tekken 4 they would have felt like real people and be given depth.
From what I heard a lot of Tekken players from the Philippines took her as an insult. They named a busty, air-headed cry-baby after a national hero, so it's not surprising.
Bruce is in his mid 50's, if we take logic into consideration Fahkumram will straight up whoop Bruce the way Ugas beat Pacquiao. Bruce is an old vet but Fahk is much younger and still in his prime and.. well, just LOOK AT THE GUY!

i found her last year , im not a VF dude, but when i saw her i fall in love with her, Badass: Check , Strong moves: Check , Amazing personality: Check. But in T8 there's Lidia. which is badass just like Vanessa... i would love to have more badass females or lady females, like Kazumi which is a lady , not a dumb generic girl like lili or asuka
About mainman comment on Vanessa face, she has a more Africa vibe on Vf5us, so very far from the generic Nina Josie doll face now. It would have been also interesting to talk about Eileen, the original monkey fighter archetype who has inspired Lucky design. Eileen is by far the best version. Well, Tekken 7 has a lot of trashy newscomers, but i agree for Lydia, she's just phenomenal and makes me hope the best for Tekken 8.
Almost all new Tekken 7 Chars were just plain boring. Simply because there was no good Story behind it. Josie is nice and the Mishima Waifu. Gigas is a bad character by design, but absolutly fun to play.I like Alisa and Lars simply because I liked the story mode in Tekken 6. Bob was always just a meme char, I agree on removing him. I think Leo and Miguel are nice, but often overlooked. The Chars I would remove are Kat, Shaheem, Cloe, Bob and Leo.

ya, she should have some escrima /kali style of takedowns or a parry, and a new take of sighting stance that makes her unique. Sure escrima is weapon-based fighting but there have more techniques that involve hand to hand combat and grapplings.

Leo is my main, so of course I'm biased, but I think Leo is much more interesting of a character (mostly gameplay-wise) than Chloe, Katarina, Shaheen etc. Leo has a lot of great fundamentals and cool techs. Although I know (he/she?) is one of the lesser played fighters on the roster
Nah i dont agree with lucky chloe, you take a lot of risk with her and she had considerable nerfs to her rage drive, she is high risk reward i should say also claudio, at least he had a cliffhanger in his story, tekken 7 story didnt had the best story to go deeper with characters specially since like 70% of the stories was comedy only if not more :/
I can see swe’s opinion on lucky Chloe. I don’t agree with the whole doll look shouldn’t be in tekken there should be a little bit of everything in fighting games. There’s isn’t any fun after awhile using her lol and she’s bland. BUT her design is adorable I think it’s mostly girls can come to like it. I don’t think she deserves to leave only because she didn’t do as well in this game. Tekken 8 should redesign the model and give her different moves. There’s nothing really memorable about the move set now that I think about it. Plus harada really likes lucky Chloe from what I remember so she might stay.

I think new characters get a bad rap. Leroy sucks but Jin sucks for the same reasons with the strings and parrys. Anytime they're -6 they can parry ( don't know how quickly the parry activate but roughly).

I disagree with Bob, he's definitely not like Rufus who's presented as a total slob, while Bob is presented in a more dignified way in his lore. I think he'll stay since he has a playstyle that is very Mishima-like. As Aris recently said, he's a different flavor of the Mishima playstyle, like how Sagat is a shoto like Ryu but different enough.

Outside of generic design, Katarina does have good motivations to be in the game and are tied to Gigas. Who turns out to be her stepfather who disappeared and was at some point turned into the B.O.W. Gigas by G Corp. That for me is interesting enough. But yes the try-hard "look at how sexy I am" thing is unnecessary.

I think gigas should be given dedicated high and mid parries that are extremely rewarding to make him less of a sitting duck than he is. Like one goes into goliath stance and you're massively plus, and the other they hit you and recoil and you get a free overkill throw or a true +12 frames or something like that. Also getting rid of most of the marduk influence but keep 1 or 2 moves. I would also give him a low from goliath that is massively plus and resets the goliath rushdown, it would be fairly damaging and only -10 or -11. I think these changes would make gigas really fun for a lot more people and make his gameplay really unique. Lucky chloe I would have her inputs change entirely to be very intricate. She would have mixups in her pressure by changing the button route and giving some buttons different timing than other. It would be like actually playing a DDR game in tekken. Also give her some annoying trolly ass ground attack or throw that stomps on them, and give her some more king like set up stuff. I think the characters that should be removed are the characters who have little potential to ever have a unique interesting gameplay, like shaheen in my personal opinion.
You realism argument of women not looking like a real-life fighter is rather strange. Especially that you play a character that literally turns into a devil and shoot laser beams - I am pretty sure MMA fighters never do that.
Hes not talking about what special powers the characters have, but how they look and what background they give, if you look at kazuya ( the character he plays ) , the guy is muscular and is wearing martial arts fighting clothes and gives off a serious vibe, if you look at the characters he complains about they dont give off any fighting vibe, the reason he likes lidia is because she has some muscle definition and some vibe going for her unlike the characters he was complaining about.

So for Lucky Chloe I think you could actually do something interesting with the Jpop/Kpop idol thing. Dont get me wrong, I hate her and her design and I would also immediately remove her from the game but the dancing fighter approach could be interesting. Like have her dance an actual choreography in her combos. Or let her have stance transitions like Lydia where she goes from one iconic KPop/Jpop music pose to another, stuff that fans of these music genres would recognize. I still wouldnt play her but I think stuff like this could make the character at least more unique.
And on a personal note, it always hurts me when someone shits on Leo. I get that Leos movelist doesnt look interesting but to be honest there is a lot of cool stuff that you can do with the character. Leo has a surprising amount of hidden moves and cancels that are not in the movelist. I also think the design itself is extremely underrated. Leo is a perfect character for everyone just like they intended and a beginner character done right ( something the Tekken 7 newcomers have failed to do in my opinion ). Leo has all the tools you need in order to learn every aspect of the game. Stances, cancels, crouch dash mixups, a ton of parrys with different inputs and applications and so muc more. Her movelist offers a lot for new players to learn and the more advanced players can go for some high execution stuff with her KNK cancels or all the other shit the character can do.
So while I understand that not many like or play her, I think if you dive deeper into what you can do with the character and reflect on the design intentions and how they pulled it off, she is a very well designed character in my opinion. Seeing a Leo expert go crazy is so cool to watch.
Leo has had a great moveset since Tekken 6, but as a character she's super bland and boring.

2. So does streetfighter: Ryu, Ken, Dan, Sakura, Makoto, Akuma and that doesn't include Ryu's master or Sean/Allen. No to mention calling those tekken characters simply karate fighters is overly simplistic. Jin-kyokushin, Kaz/Hei-fictional quasi 2d Mishima do, Lidia-Shotokan, Lee-JKD Shooto Box karate mix, DJ-Mishima Do on crack, and Paul-American Karate/kick box/ bill superfoot wallace/Joe lewis style. What you don't have is ISKA/Gym Kata/flippy style of karate which Bob already somewhat covers, albeit in a slightly ugly jokey way.
Safe to say Tekken 7 has the worst cast of new characters ever. I much rather have Bruce over every new character that they put into the game.

Look at Fahkumram, they took away Bruce, which was already stablished into this world and created this abomination story-wise and gameplay-wise just for the sake of having a Thai rep. and a Muay Thai practioner.
I'm Brazilian, but personally, I wouldn't care if Eddy wasn't, just like Elena from SF is Kenyan, neither Angolan or Brazilian, countries from which Capoeira originated from. A nation owns its culture, but that doesn't mean it can't be appreciated by others.

4. Shaheen (THANK YOU TMM. Shaheen is EASILY THE MOST FORGETABLE AND BORING character I've seen in a Tekken game)
5. Akuma (I don't think he fits in the Tekken storyline well, but that's just me). But if its playerbase loves him that much, then Claudio or Gigas are probably the 5th spot.
This list isn't meant to be for "annoying" characters, but characters that are straight up boring, lazily made, dull, add nothing to the story.

An Arabic character alongside Zafina is cool, but he has no personality lol. He is as bland as Katarina, but people don't hate on him as much because he's not as apparent as Katarina with tits and ass in your face all the time.

Actually TMM Josie's lore was that her home was destroyed by a storm and she had to train in kickboxing and join the tournament to gain the money to fix her village. However, based her on design, in game personality, and story you never knew that(Did you know Josie was actually becoming a Tekken Force Member?). Katrina was actually supposed to be a badass bounty hunter(Who also lost her parents and become an orphan), again never would have known, they should've just went the full cowgirl western design with her. Hell all the newcomers should have gotten the Tekken 4 treatment lmao. That way just like in Tekken 4 they would have felt like real people and be given depth.

Been a fan of Vanessa Lewis for years. Should be the prototype for 3d strong female characters.
i found her last year , im not a VF dude, but when i saw her i fall in love with her, Badass: Check , Strong moves: Check , Amazing personality: Check. But in T8 there's Lidia. which is badass just like Vanessa... i would love to have more badass females or lady females, like Kazumi which is a lady , not a dumb generic girl like lili or asuka
About mainman comment on Vanessa face, she has a more Africa vibe on Vf5us, so very far from the generic Nina Josie doll face now.
It would have been also interesting to talk about Eileen, the original monkey fighter archetype who has inspired Lucky design.

Well, Tekken 7 has a lot of trashy newscomers, but i agree for Lydia, she's just phenomenal and makes me hope the best for Tekken 8.
Almost all new Tekken 7 Chars were just plain boring. Simply because there was no good Story behind it. Josie is nice and the Mishima Waifu. Gigas is a bad character by design, but absolutly fun to play.I like Alisa and Lars simply because I liked the story mode in Tekken 6. Bob was always just a meme char, I agree on removing him. I think Leo and Miguel are nice, but often overlooked. The Chars I would remove are Kat, Shaheem, Cloe, Bob and Leo.

ya, she should have some escrima /kali style of takedowns or a parry, and a new take of sighting stance that makes her unique. Sure escrima is weapon-based fighting but there have more techniques that involve hand to hand combat and grapplings.

I can see swe’s opinion on lucky Chloe. I don’t agree with the whole doll look shouldn’t be in tekken there should be a little bit of everything in fighting games. There’s isn’t any fun after awhile using her lol and she’s bland. BUT her design is adorable I think it’s mostly girls can come to like it. I don’t think she deserves to leave only because she didn’t do as well in this game. Tekken 8 should redesign the model and give her different moves. There’s nothing really memorable about the move set now that I think about it. Plus harada really likes lucky Chloe from what I remember so she might stay.
