I'm really not pushing what's capable in patcher at all in this video. I've made colorbass effect racks and dynamic compressors before in patcher. I've also seen people make essentially entire plugins in patcher. Maybe one day I'll make videos on those other racks that I've done.
I pretty much just use it cause I grew up with it, but haven't regretted it once. At most I'll get a 2nd option and bounce audio or rewire to FL, id say
Racks / patchers are OP. They're basically modular synths but you can add in ANY plugin you want and modify them however you want. They're imo more powerful than actual modular synths and you don't have to spend your life savings for every individual component.
you can also add direct wave samplers ad random sound like in fpc and modulate the parameters randomly to add more textures and weirdness ....great video over all !
Nice use of FPC with the toggle overlaying layers random feature. I didn't know that was a thing. I may have to build out something similar for myself. One recommendation for you is to add buttons to the surface with 'stay down' property turned on, and set up buttons like A, A#, B, C, C#, and so on. Either link those globally to all Chromas, or what would be easier is to add one additional Chroma at the end of the chain maybe before your last multi-band compressor as a final pass through. This way you have something on the surface where you can easily use to toggle a global key of your Patcher, and quickly test running everything through whatever root key you choose. Link C surface button to Chroma Note C input, C# surface button to Chroma Note C# input, and so on. The unfortunate thing is you can't use Patcher to interact with the Chroma settings of minor vs. major or natural vs. pentatonic vs. phrygian, so this is why I would recommend you set up one final global Chroma at the end of the chain to interact with as you would need to dive in and manually toggle that if you wanted. A couple other tricks if you didn't know. If you hold Alt and click plugins in Patcher, it will open the windows without auto-closing other existing ones, allowing you to view multiple things at once so you don't have to go back and forth as much. And another is just more cosmetic, but for any plugins that don't have the visual image in Patcher, if you open them up in the Mixer, click the dropdown arrow top left and choose 'Add to plugin database (flag as favorite)', it will save it into your plugin library with a .png image snapshot so they don't appear blank or missing images in your browser otherwise. Thanks for sharing your breakdown.
A lot or maybe even all of patcher things can be done on the mixer, but that quickly becomes a mess that you also cant call into new projects as easily. LOVE patcher, gotta get back to using it a ton when it doesnt interrupt the flow im in with other things
I probably would probably never any modules. You can basically do everything they can do on your computer. Plus in not that interested in having stuff that is very limited in its functionality
@@_Trac3r_ How do you feel about Cardinal? i enjoy using it for sound design/synth pads but I don't get much out of it that I can't by using Bitwig's built in module/grid/operator system tbh. Really can't imagine paying for VCV Rack after playing around with Cardinal, honestly lol.
@threefoldcrossroads I think cardinal is pretty cool but it isn't something that I reach for all the time. I'm mostly a sample based producer and I like manipulating samples in very weird ways. There's better ways to do that outside of cardinal. I typically just record anything I make cardinal and manipulate it beyond that. I think I would love to have something like bitwigs grid in FL studio.
@yna418 spectral compressor is free but it takes some time to get your hand on ill admit. Here a link to a Au5 video that has a link in the description. th-cam.com/video/jo_ayanaKo4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=naeCMhiVNlLB1uFJ
Uuuuh, we've had it x10 for 15 years + we have an actual modular environment. Patcher has been the same thing (and he is using to to about 2% in this video) for a long time and is by far the least modular environment in any daw people actually use. The fuck, did color bass just make every person a drooling idiot? This is literally just some routing, you're getting completely fooled (not intended by the creator btw) by lines on a screen. The fuck, stop thinking virtual riot is good and go learn production.' You have been able to do this in ableton for 18 years, without it looking like that. It's very nice and tidey, extremely easy to do. I bet if I did a x10 more complicated patch in ableton you'd still not think it was complicated because it doesn't look as ugly.
This isn't FL Studio any more; this is FL Science lab 😂

yeah if they dont feel its safe in their computer give it to me ill keep it safe!
this is how IL intended people to use patcher for.
Never thought of using FPC in that manner, brilliant!
this is mindbogglingly cool

a set up tutorial on a smaller scale would be dope! to help us get started !!:P
This genre was literally made for a modular style set up. Idk how people have the patience to make in arrangement view.
This is SO cool. Great work!

This reminds me of the grid in bitwig. Which is similarly beyond my comprehension lol

Super sick stuff! Patcher is super underrated. I just wish image line spent more time improving it so it could be on paw with Ableton Max for Live.

gonna try to make something similar for neurofunk >:)
