It's not about the cost. I'm sure there are many people who would be willing to pay quite a bit more.
Problem is that the news that is delivered is twisted and biased to suit the view of the journalist. How can someone be sure that we will receive unbiased news?
People (atleast like me) want news that is not biased against or in favour of BJP. Instead of looking at matters subjectively, mainstream media is always biased and try to feed their twisted opinion into the viewer's minds.
However, I should admit that this show is quite neutral and interesting and I feel he content is very much unbiased these days.

When indian government issued sovereign bonds and Americans felt the heat in their ass within 90 days as whopping 15 billion worth of these bonds were subscribed in dollar value. Right now america needs India like anything even if they will put sanctions it will be downgraded immediately as there is no bipartisan support for such thing exists in Usa.

This procurement makes it clear, no matter which side of strategic divide we are, we never put all our eggs in one basket.
In recent years we have made lot of purchase from our American partners, and every once in a while we should diversify our arsenal. Plus american procurement and end use agreements are tough to comply. So, this puts pressure on US to extra sweeten the defence deals by providing special freedom to operate them.
    Win-win situation indeed.

American Patriots PAC-3 and THAAD are more advanced hit-to-kill systems and US SM6 missile is more advanced than S-400 missiles. In 2017 the US launched 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles to hit Syrian Shayrat Airfield in syn, at various targets in the same airfield. It is probably the best value and it is certainly not better than THAAD. American defense systems use less radiation power so that they are difficult to detect. As a result, US air defenses are more accurate and strike targets at shorter ranges. That 600 KM radar is an absolutely foolish idea because if you see 600 KMs away then enemy can get your location from that distance as well. For American air defenses, you really have to come close to detect them.

S400 is perfect for Russia air defence against NATO which has a lot of F35 and cruise missiles but no hypersonic missiles. India's air defense problem is totally different.

The problem with hypersonics is that while they are manuverable, they are not as manuverable as cruise missiles because they need to maintain speed. Hypersonic weapons are also launched by ICBM type launch pads and can be detected. And who says NATO does not have hypersonic missiles? A missile travelling more than 5 Mach is not that difficult to make. With F-35s, these missiles will be launched from planes and not from ground like in case of Russia and China. Just buying a piece of the system do not give any guarantee that there is an absolute protection available against enemy incoming targets.

Good job! But S-400 is not comparable to Patriot PAC-3 either. Patriot PAC-3 is more advanced than S-400 because it uses hit-to-kill technology. Because it is advanced it does not have a rotating radar. S-400 is still primitive. The American comparable missile to S-400 missiles is SM-6 as it uses a warhead. However, SM6 is also more advanced because it can do 3 things. Air to air, air to ground and also anti-ship. American air defences are more advanced than S-400.

      @advaityachandhoke1406 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      3 faults-
      1. Kashmir & Ladakh don't require 2 separate Regiments. 1 Regiment is more than sufficient & covers the entire area due to it's huge coverage range.
      2. Now if this system is being brought to close the Pakistan airspace incase of hostilities, you will most likely have to place one in Rajasthan. In your analysis the whole Rajasthan & Gujarat would have remained open for Pak Airforce to enter.
      3. Mumbai might or might not get it because of 2 reasons-
      A. Mumbai doesn't have a direct threat of enemy Aircrafts entering due to it being quite far from China & even Pakistan. Plus since incase of any hostilities with Pak, the whole Navy including one Aircrafts Carrier fleet would be deployed in Arabian Sea, Pak won't dare to send it's fighters to attack Mumbai.
      B. Mumbai only has threat from Ballistic missiles, that too only of ranges above a 1000 kns from Pakistan & above 2000 kms from China. To protect Mumbai, our own Ballistic Missile Shield would be more than enough. It too consists of a 4 layered structure as of now (although the largest tier I.e Prithvi Mk2 is under testing)
Our indigenous Ballistic Missile Defence Shield is structured like this-
      A. Prithvi Mk2
      B. Prithvi Mk1
      C. Prithvi Air Defence (PAD)
      D. Advanced Air Defence (AAD)
S 400 although can help Strike Ballistic missiles but it's main role would be to take on enemy Aircrafts, Drones, Refuellers & AWACS etc.
In my opinion S 400 would be part of Ballistic Missile Defence Shield but would be used in Primary theatres (where threat is ultimate) i.e close to China & Pakistan border-
      1. 3 Regiments across the Western & Northern Theatre combined to protect the states. 1 Regiments if placed strategically can protect Punjab, J&K, Ladakh & Himachal. Remaining 2 Regiments in Rajasthan & Gujarat.
      2. 1 Regiment in New Delhi which will also cover Uttarakhand Region
      3. 1 in North East (Can be Guhawati)- You require a Central place from where you can defend both Silliguri & Sikkim border as well as Arunachal Frontier.

At 13:47 you mentioned "shoot and scoot" when comparing the Russian S-400 surface to air missile system (SAM) to conventional artillery systems As a former machine gunner in the artillery (105 mm and 155 mm guns) I remember this well. We were always shooting and scooting. Firing off rounds and moving away constantly. Hit and run. But what makes these mobile missile systems (which are part of the family of rocket and artillery weapons, including air defense artillery) so very lethal is their advanced radar and target acquisition systems. I'm not so sure but I would say that the US THAAD radar/acquisition and the Russian S-400 radar/acquisition systems are nearly equal in their capabilities. I don't know. Just my opinion.
NOTE: India is a strategic ally of the US and Russia is a strategic ally of China. India and China have been engaged in cross border skirmishes for some time now. In addition, the US and China have been engaged in a trade war. What happens if a full-scale conflict were to erupt and the Indians attempted to use the S-400 missiles (that they just purchased from Russia) against China and the radar and targeting systems fail all of a sudden? Remember the story of the Trojan Horse? Just a thought.
