1:57 you can play different sounds (KIck, snare, clap, hi-hat) using the designated green buttons with the overdub on. The x-pad can be used to create fills or drops. You can delete or mute any of those if you delete/mute + the one that you want to silence. 3:42 on the left is Transient not transform.
Play with one, it's not about what it can do, it's about what YOU can do with it. :D I had the 500 (stolen a few years ago), but it's a one of a kind product, easy module to use, great effects, the tempo detection is impressive, people go crazy when you pull out the bass or the treble and throw live drum fills and then drop the entire thing in sync and the sounds are really fine.
If you push the overdub button it will let you record an 8th note pattern with the hi hats and then add your snare, as if you were recording a pattern on maschine.
Good review. I feel like none of the features were overlooked. The unit is a little bigger than I expected. I just can't get over that price. Definitely a toy that only pros are going to be able to enjoy.
yea i dont think a lot of people really get that. i dont blame them, this channel is usually all about controllers for software and whatnot... i see this as something that is actually needed (wanted) for djs like myself who, just PERSONALLY, dont think "sync" is working in a club and with serato the FX have always been subpar; so I dont use software live and with this i can do quite a bit of what i wanted
Ergonomically, I'm loving the layout and I'm also loving the overall look of it. Would be better to have the BPM display flash to the tempo of the audio though. Seems pretty limited in comparison to the KP3 and a lot of midi controllers but as a single unit I think it would do well in a DJ situation. I'd probably buy it if it was £300.
This is more of a review question, do you get to keep the product after the company sends it to you, or are you supposed to review it then send it back to them?
great video but Ean is wrong on one thing, you can in fact use more than one sound with the samples and the X-pad you just have to use the overdub option so what you do is recorded and then you can add another sound on top, a lil bit like a loop recorder in traktor or the feedback loop trick on the EFX-1000
Appreciate the vid. I grew up with the DJM 800 and I gotta say it’s effects were more natural. This box is a bit cheesy sounding imo. Would you mind me asking if you know of any other filter or efx mixer add on that has a bpm counter by chance?
Where the hell needs to go in the mixer to hear the effect I have input with send and output with return But how does it work from the mixer perspective
Yeah, but as far as I know only through the main-out, so you won't be able to assign it to separate channels, which might be a setback for some, depending on what you need it for.
ok , so let me get this straight , why on earth I would buy this ( okay the kicks , snares , hats and claps are cool ) if I have the effects on the side of my djm? I mean I could just connect my djm to the computer , add a few effects from traktor and it's just like this overprieced pice of equipment
Very good and informative review. I don't really find this effect box very useful though I did like the reset button on it at the end. Is there something like this in Traktor? I'm not an expert but I would really like to know if there is a possibility of a macro to reset all effects and add something nice before button release. Would make my life easier.
Extremely well explained, and great for someone who is a computer and heavy gadget DJ. But, you can do a lot of this sort of fun knob tweaking when you simply mix well? Which comes with years of practice and record selection. They are still 800 dollars, even after 5 years?
@TommyTenchUSA why is it so hard to comprehend a raw signal coming from iTunes ?? Set audio path to appropriate sound card then out to standard turntable jacks. Wasn't very hard was it ? All that aside I agree about the not being able to kick snare together, 2 rows of buttons would of been better, but then again... I think skip the drum pad business all together, much better off with a dedicated controller, with audio piped into this thing...
I kind of agree but I think the whole point is its analog and not digital like your iPad or software is. Some people much prefer analog and wont touch digital. But yeah I can do all this with my laptop and if I want to drum on my tracks I'd get a midi fighter or something
I have used it I do not see it being worth that much our Crew Howard Productions LLC has one at Shark City in Glendale Heights and I use it but I am not impressed with it really as you should be able to use different effects with it upgrade the effects on it via USB etc.. From what I heard and am not sure about it but from what I heard Pioneer is getting out of this line of equipment and out of the Digital Controllers line as well.
makes me glad I spent my money on a s4 and x1 and mapped them.... saved myself ££££'s , i don't understand why there products have to be so expensive... ive used products the 3rd of the price and theyve worked 10x better.
i really dont need all those effects ets.... from this device i would only use the xpad and kicks claps snares... does anybody know of a device that would let me use only those kind of stuff with traktor.... i would be veryyyyyyy grateful if anyone helps. thanks
it is so sick but all i wish is that they had a preset for the kill where there was no effect and it was just a straight effect kill because i would need that for drops and shit
Nice video, maybe a little short if ask me. I man think would rather go for control:r and then try to map isolation and scene to traktor. Cut/add feature truly inspired me for my further work. Bless
thumbs up if you think ean should create a midi mapping in traktor that emulates the reset function shown at the end of this video. (i think it could be done, just turns off all effects and puts one final effect for the reset transition). i would do this myself but i've only got the idea of how this works, not how to create the actual mapping, ill leave that to the pros :D
Because this is an actual hardware unit, and not an empty soulless MIDI controller! i just got mine, and the whole deal of the "high price" on the RMX is that IT is a high-quality, solid-build piece of hardware that is made to last, unlike the janky plastic parts you'll find in every Roland box these days.... Frankly, i'm happy that i just got a really good deal on a unit that's kept its high price high for the past twelve years now; because despite what the haters say, IT's actually a really great piece of gear that is easy to use and does what IT does really well, and no one has figured out how to make anything better in the hardware realm for almost a decade-&-a-half now 🤙🤙🌌
... really not that impressive actually. It seemed pretty apparent that Ean wasn't exactly elated with it either. I think the 3 diff options on the kill is the coolest part. That's about it though.
11 years old and still nothing can beat it!
actually an even older Korg's Kaosspad can ;)
octatrack with EZBOT Performance Mixer
@ ima check it out! The only performance mixer I’ve heard of is the Roland MX1
such a cool piece of equipment but leave it to pioneer to overprice their products sigh
1:57 you can play different sounds (KIck, snare, clap, hi-hat) using the designated green buttons with the overdub on. The x-pad can be used to create fills or drops. You can delete or mute any of those if you delete/mute + the one that you want to silence.

track ID that starts from 1:30...hmm? any idea
Point well taken! It's about what you can do with it!
just press over dub if u want to use 2 instruments on the x pad
If you push the overdub button it will let you record an 8th note pattern with the hi hats and then add your snare, as if you were recording a pattern on maschine.
Good review. I feel like none of the features were overlooked. The unit is a little bigger than I expected. I just can't get over that price. Definitely a toy that only pros are going to be able to enjoy.
so this thing is a standalone effects unit that just happens to also work as a controller?
yea i dont think a lot of people really get that.
i dont blame them, this channel is usually all about controllers for software and whatnot...
i see this as something that is actually needed (wanted) for djs like myself who, just PERSONALLY, dont think "sync" is working in a club and with serato the FX have always been subpar; so I dont use software live and with this i can do quite a bit of what i wanted
Love my rmx
Truly a remix box
it looks like a car stereo :)
4:20 the track is laserkraft 3d from germany with his song "Nein Mann" !!

This is more of a review question, do you get to keep the product after the company sends it to you, or are you supposed to review it then send it back to them?
Tracklist?
Way overpriced is an understatement! Holy crap!
Do you need to connect it to speakers as well?
great video but Ean is wrong on one thing, you can in fact use more than one sound with the samples and the X-pad you just have to use the overdub option so what you do is recorded and then you can add another sound on top, a lil bit like a loop recorder in traktor or the feedback loop trick on the EFX-1000
you mentioned it can record incoming audio... can it record for sampling (looper)?
My big question : Cant this be used with Native Instruments Kontrol S8 ????
where is a delay on this unit?
Any specific settings needed in mixer? I’m using a Denon Prime 4. Thank u.
What cables do you use and how can I connect them to DJM 900 nexus 2 please?
Appreciate the vid. I grew up with the DJM 800 and I gotta say it’s effects were more natural. This box is a bit cheesy sounding imo. Would you mind me asking if you know of any other filter or efx mixer add on that has a bpm counter by chance?
Is there a effect unit you can hook up a midi fighter too?????
Where the hell needs to go in the mixer to hear the effect
I have input with send and output with return
But how does it work from the mixer perspective
Yeah, but as far as I know only through the main-out, so you won't be able to assign it to separate channels, which might be a setback for some, depending on what you need it for.
So, It's like a build and drop box
great review you made the unit easy to understand ...............
does it only work with pioneer mixers?
ok , so let me get this straight , why on earth I would buy this ( okay the kicks , snares , hats and claps are cool ) if I have the effects on the side of my djm? I mean I could just connect my djm to the computer , add a few effects from traktor and it's just like this overprieced pice of equipment
Because this is for me... playing music live from mpc1000 😉
you think RMX-1000 work with the dim 909 mixer just asking a question
Very good and informative review.
I don't really find this effect box very useful though I did like the reset button on it at the end.

Would make my life easier.
Hello! Can I use it with Z1+X1+Laptop?
Can i use it with a controller???or it's just only for CDj's
Extremely well explained, and great for someone who is a computer and heavy gadget DJ. But, you can do a lot of this sort of fun knob tweaking when you simply mix well? Which comes with years of practice and record selection. They are still 800 dollars, even after 5 years?
Here from the future- it's been 10 years, and these still go for $800.
Would it connect fine with a Behringer DX626 ?
Can this hook up to the djm t1?
Pretty sick. Can you hook this up to Traktor?
The deal with the RMX-100 is mainly the fact you don't need any software to use it!
4:41 Oh it is?
"It works pretty well" ;)
I'm happy with my Old school pioneer efx 500
All the radio stations still use them as well
I know no one with the new school rmx 1000 or 500s
EFX 1000 was better.
@TommyTenchUSA why is it so hard to comprehend a raw signal coming from iTunes ?? Set audio path to appropriate sound card then out to standard turntable jacks. Wasn't very hard was it ? james Zabiela used the previous version with pioneer cd j
Can i use the 4 trak of numark with that. Answer me faster please.
Hi.Can i connect this with pioneer ddj 1000?and something else.can i hear the effects both from earphones and speakers?
MAD WORLD maybe
just pull the volume fader down at the same time?
Perfect video, thank you so much!
i agree with you man got my last week and its so awesome
2:42 "Really Squishy" I dont know why I laughed when he said that?
Which remix of "Nein, Mann" is this??
I don't see 1k worth of investment in this device to me I would only see about maybe 150 worth in it I can do all that on my Ipod/ipad for 5 bucks
I kind of agree but I think the whole point is its analog and not digital like your iPad or software is. Some people much prefer analog and wont touch digital. But yeah I can do all this with my laptop and if I want to drum on my tracks I'd get a midi fighter or something

ok DJ iPad lets see you perform in a club environment. it is overpriced, but its definately worth more than 150...somewhere in the middle feels right.
What’s the track?
great review man!
whats the name of the second song ?
how much is it?
makes me glad I spent my money on a s4 and x1 and mapped them.... saved myself ££££'s , i don't understand why there products have to be so expensive... ive used products the 3rd of the price and theyve worked 10x better.
Whats the music that starts at 2:50
i really dont need all those effects ets.... from this device i would only use the xpad and kicks claps snares... does anybody know of a device that would let me use only those kind of stuff with traktor.... i would be veryyyyyyy grateful if anyone helps. thanks
RMX 500
what song is @ 1:24?
I had this with octatrack and virus. It was so cool setup
it is so sick but all i wish is that they had a preset for the kill where there was no effect and it was just a straight effect kill because i would need that for drops and shit
Sounds sweet, what mixer is connected there?
Non - he clearly says at the start he just has it connected to iTunes.
2:39 I'm pretty sure she said that
thanks, this looks fun, I can't wait!
ID 01:41?
can some one tell if i can use a pioneer ddj-s1 with this pioneer rmx 1000 ?
you can get 3 kaoss pads for that price
Basically what I do whit the Pioneer DJM 900 mixer while looping whatever with Serato DJ detting out of a mix.
It can be used with both..but on a controller u will hear affects on all channels
Best thing about the machine.
because it can be dont with analogue inputs. all the fx are processed on the unit itself. no pc requried
WHAT IS THE MUSIC? D:
DVJ 1000 is $2500, but other than that and headphones, i couldn't think of anything. Nice.
Nice video, maybe a little short if ask me. I man think would rather go for control:r and then try to map isolation and scene to traktor. Cut/add feature truly inspired me for my further work.
Bless
What song is that
Its definitely by Tiga, don't know the name of the tune tho
it says overdub to the right of the xpad so technically you can play different drum sounds over one another
of course you can!
You started at the top bud.
great review!!!
u didnt say anything about how this can be used in production.
thumbs up if you think ean should create a midi mapping in traktor that emulates the reset function shown at the end of this video. (i think it could be done, just turns off all effects and puts one final effect for the reset transition). i would do this myself but i've only got the idea of how this works, not how to create the actual mapping, ill leave that to the pros :D
Great piece!
thank mate I'm going to get that
Pioneer should extract the drum section @ 0:55 of the RMX-1000, add load & save .wav option and sale it as a new drum machine called: DRM -1000. ;-)
NICE MACHINE REALY GOOD FOR CDJ 1000 MK1
obviously u can use it with any audio source
super siiiick! 🔥
$800? You're joking right? Why do they charge this much when their fully-featured controllers are half that sometimes?
Because this is an actual hardware unit, and not an empty soulless MIDI controller! i just got mine, and the whole deal of the "high price" on the RMX is that IT is a high-quality, solid-build piece of hardware that is made to last, unlike the janky plastic parts you'll find in every Roland box these days.... this sooo dope!!
... really not that impressive actually. It seemed pretty apparent that Ean wasn't exactly elated with it either. I think the 3 diff options on the kill is the coolest part. That's about it though.
great viewing! you just convinced me to get one ;-)
Probably even a remix (and of course modified with FX)
You aren't required to sync or quantize with software.
Nothing he said was specific to a DJ mix, all the same can be applied to production.
gonna buy Cdj's 2000 with djm 900 nexus prob gonna buy this also now..
I own EFX 1000 and honestly I think this thing here is far from a EFX killer. Heck, seldom do I watch a review and I'm not tempted to buy some stuff.
no u cant bro sorry i use traktor and love it but this is a bit different now in fairness
This would be great for the more straight-forward of sets... only, they're asking for one grand???
