I take Faendal for the archery. By paying him for Archery tips then getting my money back when I trade with him, I can get up to level 50 in archery before I even leave the barrow

I sided with feandal as soon as I got to riverwood and we saved skyrim together. He never left my side the whole game, even came to my wedding. Made him the steward at my house, now he’s uncle feandal to my kids. Legends will be told about the Dragonborn and his wood elf companion
If you tell Sven his mother was right, he tells you to tell Balgruf right away. That does not seem very dickish to me. After all: who WOULD believe dragons exist at the start of the game?

Really faendel just triggers traps and shit also is kinda immortal.. I haven't seen an npc kill him yet. Vamps sometimes if they used drain life as the effect lasts a little longer after he prones. Also he ends up tanking a bit while i backatab or snipe
no joke during my first playthrough of skyrim I got to radiant Quest from Camilla Valerius after hooking her up with Faendal. the radiant quest in question was to rescue Faendal.
@@GoldenBeans potentially to radiant quests that can be given through the companions, as one of the rescue missions. the quest happened to trigger out the blue when I was passing through Riverwood and bumped into Camilla who suddenly asked me to go rescue Faendal, I chalked the quest triggering the way it did due to the bugginess of the creation/gamebryo engine.
@@GoldenBeans there's quite a few rarely occuring radiant quests in the game that you could never see. Such as if you assault an npc by punching them there is a very small chance that a bystander who saw it could send you a letter asking to beat up someone they have a negative relationship with (which can lead to a very funny radiant quest of punching a child)
Sven lies about Faendal by saying he's a racial supremacist. No evidence for that. Faendal lies about Sven by saying he's vain (washing his fine blonde hair) and doesn't respect women (washing his linens, cooking for him). There is evidence for these characteristics, such as Faendal claiming he's the best man in Riverwood and how he treats his mother. While both are deceitful, Sven lie has no basis in truth. Faendal does. Therefore, you should side with Faendal. Sven would likely be a worse husband. Additionally, as a skilled archer, Faendal would be very capable of providing for his wife, by hunting, selling furs, bounty hunting or even training others (he made a few thousand off me like that). Sven is a bard, but a mediocre one at that and will be less likely to be able to support his wife. Ignoring the ethics of playing matchmaker, Faendal is clearly a superior choice.

While Sven is a prick, Faendal, as an elf, will live far longer than Camilla, and even if they do marry, Faendal would have to watch as she grew old and feeble, and she would pass away in a relatively short amount of time for an elf, leaving Faendal alone and depressed for years to come. At least with Sven they can grow old together. I definitely always go with Faendal, but it's something to consider.

Depends on the character, and who I bump into first, but usually, Sven is the one who gets thrown under the bus. I didn't know about the pickpocket option, though. That sounds like it would be the more enjoyable option. That said, the wording Sven used regarding his mother sounds as if she is potentially deranged in some way. Harmless enough to let her go on about her day, of course, but perhaps prone to hallucinations or some variety of TES approved mental illness. His response to you confirming his mother's potential delusion makes him immediately ask the Dragonborn to seek the Jarl. I mean, I wouldn't believe someone telling me they saw a dragon, either.
He also yelled at her about it in the open. We got an aged grandmother living with us, but we will always have her go inside or go private before addressing something she did. This man just berated her, in front of the whole town.
Another interesting thing about this, if you kill either man, you'll get a letter by courier from the other one thanking you for it. You can speak to them about the letter, too.
My archery, sneak and smithing skills are maxed, I have a brand new Deadric Bow that's been fully upgraded at the forge, a load of steel arrows I need to use and I've found a nice ledge overlooking Riverwood with a clear view of the inn entrance. Just as soon as this Ancient Dragon is done trying to chew my face off, I'll wait for Sven to poke his head out.
@French Bryan Well, whenever I've personally made a Battlemage or Spellsword build I always pick Heavy Armor and Smithing; simply because the added protection and upgrades go a long way towards compensating for lower health compared to pure Fighter builds. My formula is 30 Stamina/40 Health/30 Magicka every 10 level ups for a Battlemage type, regardless of character race. It's a slow progression, but worth it once you reach level 40+. For armor choices, Light Armor is definitely the way to go if you ever want to incorporate Sneak, at all. Dragonscale and Light Stahlrim armor are great, Glass armor is good for maximum protection. If you love the Nightingale armor, I would advise stocking up on Void Salts and invest in Smithing to upgrade it as much as possible at higher levels. Combined with the core enchantments, that set is a beast once you can do that.

Basically do that until he can't train me anymore, good thing I had the bling box stash mod by the guardians stone. When I played the vanilla game, lost out on so much training, it's not like you can get the training you missed from level one to level five if you're on level six

Sven fakes a note, making Faendal out to be a Thalmor Agent which already makes him much lower than Faendal's slanderous note. At least Faendal's note doesn't implicate Sven of any murderous or criminal work behind a faction (Like, say, The Dark Brotherhood, or The Thieve's Guild.)
I still always wonder, why I can find kids clothing in Faendal's house.. It disturbs me. Every time, he's going to be serving either Boethiah or Sithis in the Void. Join the Dark Brotherhood and every kill you make will send those souls to serve Sithis in the Void, unless you soultrap them of course. Oh and same goes with Sven, depending on who's going to serve Boethiah.
I usaully pick Faeneal, and later recruit him into the Blades. A Wood Elf would be good for undercover work in Valenwood, and maybe form a resistance? Faendal is one of the more accurate archers in Skyrim, and I'm pretty sure having him join the Blades increases his level cap slightly.
It would be more obvious if he didn't have the same attitude in this video as he does all his other ones. Yes, his comments at the beginning were clear jokes, but his analysis didn't come off that way.
I hate both of them, but I always side with Sven in all of my play-through because of these 5 reason: 1: Feandal is a creepy ass bitch who stalks you in your home if you marry Camilla and also sends hired thugs to kill you and can be heard saying “You should be dead” if you return. 2: Sven make for an excellent sacrifice for the boethiah calling quest or to strengthen your ebony blade. 3: Faendal won’t commit any crimes and is very annoying if you decided to trespass, whereas Sven is willing to commit some crimes. 4: Sven also has slightly less annoying dialogue then Feandal when in battle and can also rarely give you gifts and play music when out travelling if you stand still for a period of time. 5: Nords and Imperials make for a better couple then with a Bosmer in my opinion.
I chose Faendal because of a few reasons: 1. He's generally a nicer guy compared to Sven, who comes off as arrogant, cock sure and annoyed with his mum. 2. Faendal has his own place, works hard and is independent. Sven still lives at home with his mum and really does seem like the kinda guy who can't wash his own clothes. 3. My first ever character was a Dunmer, so elves gotta help each other out. 4. Faendal is actually quite attractive for a Bosmer.

@R P She doesn't, they'll both follow her if you marry her without doing their mischief and she isn't interested in either of them. They'll both simply try to win her over, even if she's married to someone. She's actually interested in you, the player the moment she first sees you. She knows Sven from back when they were kids and they used to play together but they aren't really friends anymore as she finds him a tad annoying and she sees Feandal as a friend nothing more. If you kill Sven, you'll get a letter from her saying she knows it was you and she's kinda happy he's gone and won't tell anyone about it (because she found him annoying) If you kill Feandal, you'll get a letter from her saying she knows it was you but won't tell anyone. Either way, if you marry her she will keep telling you every time you come home, how happy she is you brought back the golden claw. (Which I always steal, not long after I gave it to them as I'm a collector of unique items)
Personally I like to use mods that let me have multiple followers. Sven is extremely weak but there is one advantage he has that Faendal doesn’t. Sven is loyal enough to help me fight if I get a bounty in Whiterun. Faendal would betray and attack me if for whatever reason I get a bounty. For that reason alone I usually choose Sven.
Here was the issue that made it one-sided; Faendal greeted my Wood Elf as a sister from Valenwood. First time in a playthrough where that choice was not random. Faendal and my Bosmer worked really well raining arrows on enemies and doing light missions together.
On my first playthrough I choose Sven as I didn't encounter Faendal as I was passing through Riverwood kept him as a follower to carry my stuff and before I went to Whiterun, I wanted to explore Skyrim, while doing this, Sven was killed by a Horker..... Have chosen Faendal ever since and the free archery lessons are pretty good too.
Since Faendal is usually the first one I talk to upon entering Riverwood, and he's the only option with there with skill training, I naturally choose Faendal. But I'd still rather have Lydia follow me than either of those two losers. "I am sworn to carry your burdens." Yes, Lydia. Yes you are. >:)
I'm swapping coins for a gem or jewellery. That way I'm still technically paying for the training, and he can reward Camilla with pretty presents from his adventures. But this is a bosmer to bosmer deal.
I always pick Faendal. Train with him until my archery is Level 50, get my money back, and then send him home. Why marry Camila when I can marry Wonder Woman, aka Lydia?

You can also use Faendal's house if you choose, so you essentially get a house in Riverwood. I made Faen my steward at Lakeshire and took over his house in Riverwood.
On my first play through ever I pickpocketed both letters, gave them both to camilla causing her to hate both than later married her and invited both sven and faendal to the wedding
I'm Sven's archnemesis. I chose Faendal and I also accidentally killed Sven's mother during my very first burglary. She is the *only* civilian to be dead in my save file. lmao
Because I always choose Faendal simply because of his usefulness, I never knew Sven's letter brought race into it. Faendal's fake letter plays on Sven's personality on a personal level. Sven's fake letter pulls racism into it not only making Faendal sound racist, but truly showing how racist Sven is that he would do such a thing.
First time I arrived in Riverwood I accidentally stole something from the trader. He and Camilla started to attack me and as I ran away the whole village started to attack each other. The whole thing ended up with that Camilla died... Long after that I found out about her whole love triangle story. But her brother is still very grateful for the help with the claw ^^
Sven's letter is also more malicious towards Faendal, portraying him as a Thalmor sympathizer, which the bosmer is clearly not. Faendal's letter, meanwhile, is pretty close to the truth considering Sven's personality.
Sven's letter and thoughts about Faendal are more like your usual " hello i'm an ignorant nord supremacist" stuff in action. It's always like that with the worst representatives of this race - "hurp durp Elves always think they're Better than us and they all are Thalmor agents anyway and can't be trusted!!!1" While Faendal pretty much grasped Sven's personality. His letter is petty too, but at least it's more humorous and more of an actual burn.

I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't make this choice more difficult. They made it way too one-sided. They should've either- A: Have the two men be virtually identical in strength and level, but specialize in different styles. B: Have Sven be super nice and Faendal more jerkish, to balance out whether you prefer the benefits he provides or would rather sacrifice it to have the nice guy win.
I always help Faendal by betraying Sven to Camilla, because he's enormously annoying. Unless I'm trying out a Major Slack build guide, in which case I choose whichever has the best loot in their home (which for many of his builds is Sven).

Sven disrespecting his old, probably mentally ill mother with such disgusting contempt is enough for me to not just pick Faendal (if I had to choose one), but also murder the hell out of Sven. Riverwood will take care of her in Sven’s “absence”.
Here's something else you forgot to mention. Faendal is in the Ranger class, giving him high morale so he'll fight to the death. Sven however, is in the Civilian class, giving him very low morale so he runs when his already miniscule health gets too low.
i will never forget the time when I failed to win faendal over camilla's heart, and camilla became mad instead over faendal. When I completed the quest that way, faendal become mad because of what I did to him, and i felt horrible so i came up with a plan by making sven follow me and kill him in the woods... i just think about it imagining like maybe when i killed him they will get back together instead... and so while im travelling, i suddenly got a letter and that letter came from faendal and said that he knows that i killed him and he thanked me, dang im so happy that time, skyrim really is wide than you think.
I mean I have sentimental value to Sven because of a main play-through years ago but faendal is definitely better, plus taking some bard who can barely lift a sword into dangerous situations is a shame, don’t like killing a guy who has a mother, feel no guilt if faendal dies. Aside from the training he’s good for a base follower and I respect his attitude towards his work, tbh whoever I choose I usually make my steward.
Did you realize that Faendal is a stalker if you decide to marry Camilla? He will constantly come around, following Camilla to wherever you two live, not caring one bit that she is now married to someone else. I think they're both jerks and just skip that particular quest.

i shit you not, a few years ago i played skyrim knowing NOTHING and on my first playthrough i chose to recruit sven. i took him with me everywhere and we both tanked for each other. he died in goldenglow estate(?) i think it’s called (that place you first have to hit up once you join the thieves guild) and sven fucking died in the basement 😭 i was so sad and wanted to reload but that would mean playing through all of that fighting again so i pushed forward. sven, my first and favorite companion ❤️
Pickpocket both, deliver both, Faendal follows (this works on both 360 and Xbox One versions at least), use Faendal for archery training and trade your spent gold back to you, and so, if you wanted, you can marry Camilla who will set up shop and earn you gold. Do what you will with Faendal
There’s also the contents of the letters to consider. Sven’s letter is reliant on casting Faendal as a bigot, and in doing so, indirectly belittles the very woman he’s trying to court. Meanwhile, Faendal only casts Sven as lazy and entitled, desiring her future with him to be one of domesticity, which Implies that he respects her independence. Of course, the fact that he’s trying to manipulate her makes him a hypocrite, but as long as we have to choose one, he’s still the better choice.

@@clayxros576 there is a glitch in the vanilla version of skyrim where you need to buy the house in whiterun and fully furnished the house. Once you do use the bookcase where the alchemy table is with the ogma infinium book. You can get to lvl 81 in about a hour and a half with 80 skill points to spend when your done. Check out videos on TH-cam about the glitch.
I always chose Faendal and kept him as a quite useful (and friendly) follower for much of the game. He favours his bow attacking from a distance. If you sneak, he sneaks. He doesn't rush in like Lydia and give away your planned surprise attack. Faendal is both a pleasant follower and easier to "control" than many others.
After choosing Feandal alot for the archery fast perks, went with Sven and then married Camilla. Feandal kept showing up at Breezewood home when I was away, think they were having an affair. So killed him and pulled the I'm Thane on the guards and now Feandals body is kindling for my Breezehome firepit. Incidentally the guard somehow died after I left the home, his body is under the bridge into WhiteRun. Now have 2 homes, Feandals and Breezehome. Feandals body is reminder to Camilla what happens when you cheat.
Sven does have a saving grace, you can recruit him into the blades to annoy that idiot Delphine it's like her own personal hell

4.) assassinate Sven

no joke during my first playthrough of skyrim I got to radiant Quest from Camilla Valerius after hooking her up with Faendal. the radiant quest in question was to rescue Faendal.

@@GoldenBeans potentially to radiant quests that can be given through the companions, as one of the rescue missions. the quest happened to trigger out the blue when I was passing through Riverwood and bumped into Camilla who suddenly asked me to go rescue Faendal, I chalked the quest triggering the way it did due to the bugginess of the creation/gamebryo engine.
@@GoldenBeans there's quite a few rarely occuring radiant quests in the game that you could never see. Such as if you assault an npc by punching them there is a very small chance that a bystander who saw it could send you a letter asking to beat up someone they have a negative relationship with (which can lead to a very funny radiant quest of punching a child)

Sven lies about Faendal by saying he's a racial supremacist. No evidence for that. Faendal lies about Sven by saying he's vain (washing his fine blonde hair) and doesn't respect women (washing his linens, cooking for him). There is evidence for these characteristics, such as Faendal claiming he's the best man in Riverwood and how he treats his mother. While both are deceitful, Sven lie has no basis in truth. Faendal does. Therefore, you should side with Faendal. Sven would likely be a worse husband.
Additionally, as a skilled archer, Faendal would be very capable of providing for his wife, by hunting, selling furs, bounty hunting or even training others (he made a few thousand off me like that). Sven is a bard, but a mediocre one at that and will be less likely to be able to support his wife. Ignoring the ethics of playing matchmaker, Faendal is clearly a superior choice.

While Sven is a prick, Faendal, as an elf, will live far longer than Camilla, and even if they do marry, Faendal would have to watch as she grew old and feeble, and she would pass away in a relatively short amount of time for an elf, leaving Faendal alone and depressed for years to come. At least with Sven they can grow old together. I definitely always go with Faendal, but it's something to consider.

I chose to take Sven's letter to Camilla , but I tell her the truth which make her angry with Sven and I get Faendal as a follower.
Depends on the character, and who I bump into first, but usually, Sven is the one who gets thrown under the bus.
I didn't know about the pickpocket option, though. That sounds like it would be the more enjoyable option.
That said, the wording Sven used regarding his mother sounds as if she is potentially deranged in some way. Harmless enough to let her go on about her day, of course, but perhaps prone to hallucinations or some variety of TES approved mental illness. His response to you confirming his mother's potential delusion makes him immediately ask the Dragonborn to seek the Jarl. I mean, I wouldn't believe someone telling me they saw a dragon, either.
He also yelled at her about it in the open. We got an aged grandmother living with us, but we will always have her go inside or go private before addressing something she did. This man just berated her, in front of the whole town.

My archery, sneak and smithing skills are maxed, I have a brand new Deadric Bow that's been fully upgraded at the forge, a load of steel arrows I need to use and I've found a nice ledge overlooking Riverwood with a clear view of the inn entrance.
Just as soon as this Ancient Dragon is done trying to chew my face off, I'll wait for Sven to poke his head out.

@French Bryan Well, whenever I've personally made a Battlemage or Spellsword build I always pick Heavy Armor and Smithing; simply because the added protection and upgrades go a long way towards compensating for lower health compared to pure Fighter builds.
My formula is 30 Stamina/40 Health/30 Magicka every 10 level ups for a Battlemage type, regardless of character race. It's a slow progression, but worth it once you reach level 40+.
For armor choices, Light Armor is definitely the way to go if you ever want to incorporate Sneak, at all. Dragonscale and Light Stahlrim armor are great, Glass armor is good for maximum protection. If you love the Nightingale armor, I would advise stocking up on Void Salts and invest in Smithing to upgrade it as much as possible at higher levels. Combined with the core enchantments, that set is a beast once you can do that.

Basically do that until he can't train me anymore, good thing I had the bling box stash mod by the guardians stone. I usaully pick Faeneal, and later recruit him into the Blades. A Wood Elf would be good for undercover work in Valenwood, and maybe form a resistance? Faendal is one of the more accurate archers in Skyrim, and I'm pretty sure having him join the Blades increases his level cap slightly.

I hate both of them, but I always side with Sven in all of my play-through because of these 5 reason:
1: Feandal is a creepy ass bitch who stalks you in your home if you marry Camilla and also sends hired thugs to kill you and can be heard saying “You should be dead” if you return.
2: Sven make for an excellent sacrifice for the boethiah calling quest or to strengthen your ebony blade.
3: Faendal won’t commit any crimes and is very annoying if you decided to trespass, whereas Sven is willing to commit some crimes.
4: Sven also has slightly less annoying dialogue then Feandal when in battle and can also rarely give you gifts and play music when out travelling if you stand still for a period of time.
5: Nords and Imperials make for a better couple then with a Bosmer in my opinion.
Obviously Faendal, he can get you to Lvl 50 in Archery within minutes into the game.
I chose Faendal because of a few reasons:
1. He's generally a nicer guy compared to Sven, who comes off as arrogant, cock sure and annoyed with his mum.
2. Faendal has his own place, works hard and is independent. Sven still lives at home with his mum and really does seem like the kinda guy who can't wash his own clothes.
3. My first ever character was a Dunmer, so elves gotta help each other out.
4. Faendal is actually quite attractive for a Bosmer.

@R P She doesn't, they'll both follow her if you marry her without doing their mischief and she isn't interested in either of them. They'll both simply try to win her over, even if she's married to someone.
She's actually interested in you, the player the moment she first sees you.
She knows Sven from back when they were kids and they used to play together but they aren't really friends anymore as she finds him a tad annoying and she sees Feandal as a friend nothing more.
If you kill Sven, you'll get a letter from her saying she knows it was you and she's kinda happy he's gone and won't tell anyone about it (because she found him annoying)
If you kill Feandal, you'll get a letter from her saying she knows it was you but won't tell anyone.
Either way, if you marry her she will keep telling you every time you come home, how happy she is you brought back the golden claw. (Which I always steal, not long after I gave it to them as I'm a collector of unique items)

Personally I like to use mods that let me have multiple followers. Sven is extremely weak but there is one advantage he has that Faendal doesn’t. Sven is loyal enough to help me fight if I get a bounty in Whiterun. Faendal would betray and attack me if for whatever reason I get a bounty. For that reason alone I usually choose Sven.
Here was the issue that made it one-sided; Faendal greeted my Wood Elf as a sister from Valenwood. First time in a playthrough where that choice was not random. Faendal and my Bosmer worked really well raining arrows on enemies and doing light missions together.
I’ll take Free-Archerydal any day of the week.
On my first playthrough I choose Sven as I didn't encounter Faendal as I was passing through Riverwood kept him as a follower to carry my stuff and before I went to Whiterun, I wanted to explore Skyrim, while doing this, Sven was killed by a Horker..... Have chosen Faendal ever since and the free archery lessons are pretty good too.
I chose Sven and he's been my best companion, we fought deathlords, dragons and more. He is my best friend

Faendal lets you cheese some Archery levels at the very start of the game, so I always pick him.
I always pick Faendal. Train with him until my archery is Level 50, get my money back, and then send him home. Why marry Camila when I can marry Wonder Woman, aka Lydia?

Because I always choose Faendal simply because of his usefulness, I never knew Sven's letter brought race into it. Faendal's fake letter plays on Sven's personality on a personal level. Sven's fake letter pulls racism into it not only making Faendal sound racist, but truly showing how racist Sven is that he would do such a thing.
Sven’s one redeeming quality is he’s a relatively guilt free human sacrifice for some magic armour.
I think I accidentally chose Sven. When I had a Quest that involved gathering blood from a woodelf, Faendal was the only one that came to mind.

First time I arrived in Riverwood I accidentally stole something from the trader. He and Camilla started to attack me and as I ran away the whole village started to attack each other. The whole thing ended up with that Camilla died... Long after that I found out about her whole love triangle story.
But her brother is still very grateful for the help with the claw ^^
Sven's letter is also more malicious towards Faendal, portraying him as a Thalmor sympathizer, which the bosmer is clearly not. Faendal's letter, meanwhile, is pretty close to the truth considering Sven's personality.
Sven's letter and thoughts about Faendal are more like your usual " hello i'm an ignorant nord supremacist" stuff in action. It's always like that with the worst representatives of this race - "hurp durp Elves always think they're Better than us and they all are Thalmor agents anyway and can't be trusted!!!1"
While Faendal pretty much grasped Sven's personality. His letter is petty too, but at least it's more humorous and more of an actual burn.

I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't make this choice more difficult. They made it way too one-sided. They should've either-
A: Have the two men be virtually identical in strength and level, but specialize in different styles.
B: Have Sven be super nice and Faendal more jerkish, to balance out whether you prefer the benefits he provides or would rather sacrifice it to have the nice guy win.
I always help Faendal by betraying Sven to Camilla, because he's enormously annoying. Unless I'm trying out a Major Slack build guide, in which case I choose whichever has the best loot in their home (which for many of his builds is Sven).
Now for one of the most difficult choices in the whole ga-Faendal, always choose Faendal.

Not to mention Faencuck sits there in the back with his gay bow and lets you do all the frontline work, pathetic.

Here's something else you forgot to mention.
Faendal is in the Ranger class, giving him high morale so he'll fight to the death.
Sven however, is in the Civilian class, giving him very low morale so he runs when his already miniscule health gets too low.
i will never forget the time when I failed to win faendal over camilla's heart, and camilla became mad instead over faendal. When I completed the quest that way, faendal become mad because of what I did to him, and i felt horrible so i came up with a plan by making sven follow me and kill him in the woods... i just think about it imagining like maybe when i killed him they will get back together instead... and so while im travelling, i suddenly got a letter and that letter came from faendal and said that he knows that i killed him and he thanked me, dang im so happy that time, skyrim really is wide than you think.
I mean I have sentimental value to Sven because of a main play-through years ago but faendal is definitely better, plus taking some bard who can barely lift a sword into dangerous situations is a shame, don’t like killing a guy who has a mother, feel no guilt if faendal dies. Aside from the training he’s good for a base follower and I respect his attitude towards his work, tbh whoever I choose I usually make my steward.
Did you realize that Faendal is a stalker if you decide to marry Camilla? He will constantly come around, following Camilla to wherever you two live, not caring one bit that she is now married to someone else. I think they're both jerks and just skip that particular quest.

i shit you not, a few years ago i played skyrim knowing NOTHING and on my first playthrough i chose to recruit sven. i took him with me everywhere and we both tanked for each other. he died in goldenglow estate(?) i think it’s called (that place you first have to hit up once you join the thieves guild) and sven fucking died in the basement 😭 i was so sad and wanted to reload but that would mean playing through all of that fighting again so i pushed forward. sven, my first and favorite companion ❤️

There’s also the contents of the letters to consider. Sven’s letter is reliant on casting Faendal as a bigot, and in doing so, indirectly belittles the very woman he’s trying to court. Meanwhile, Faendal only casts Sven as lazy and entitled, desiring her future with him to be one of domesticity, which Implies that he respects her independence.
Of course, the fact that he’s trying to manipulate her makes him a hypocrite, but as long as we have to choose one, he’s still the better choice.
And Sven's letter also makes Faendal sound like a Thalmor, wich may endager his life, especially as Dolphin lives in Riverwood

@@clayxros576 there is a glitch in the vanilla version of skyrim where you need to buy the house in whiterun and fully furnished the house. Once you do use the bookcase where the alchemy table is with the ogma infinium book. You can get to lvl 81 in about a hour and a half with 80 skill points to spend when your done. Check out videos on TH-cam about the glitch.

I always chose Faendal and kept him as a quite useful (and friendly) follower for much of the game.
He favours his bow attacking from a distance. If you sneak, he sneaks.
He doesn't rush in like Lydia and give away your planned surprise attack.
Faendal is both a pleasant follower and easier to "control" than many others.
After choosing Feandal alot for the archery fast perks, went with Sven and then married Camilla. Feandal kept showing up at Breezewood home when I was away, think they were having an affair. So killed him and pulled the I'm Thane on the guards and now Feandals body is kindling for my Breezehome firepit. Incidentally the guard somehow died after I left the home, his body is under the bridge into WhiteRun. Now have 2 homes, Feandals and Breezehome. Feandals body is reminder to Camilla what happens when you cheat.
I love how this is one of the few choices with an objectively correct answer
