Man, this sure does bring back great memories. I was there 2011 - 2014. I was just about to mention going out with Salty Rod's, then realized you were already on it! Have fun, do as much as you can while you are there....... It goes by fast.
Semper Fi, was there in 82 and again in 84 - total different scene. Was at Makiminato the first tour and Hansen the last. Fishing was stellar - hook up with the locals - not easy, but doable.
Merry Christmas, Entirely understand that feeling of uncertainty and anxiousness. You couldn't have put it into perspective any better. Love the POV shots, especially on the vertical jigging, it puts you right in the driver's seat. That 2 for 1 was stellar. What's mind blowing is that you're half a world away, and the same tactics that work here, work there, and the fish are similar too. Watching the dolphin swim up to the boat is some of the best stuff, I know I love it when it happens to me, those were some meaty dolphin too. So, I'm new to your channel, and am thoroughly enjoying your content, this seems like it is going to be an adventure of a lifetime for you. The stuff dreams are made of. Couldn't help but notice your Landshark shirt. Awesome. Take care & happy new year. Until next time, tight lines & good vibes.
I used to fish there in the 90s when I was stationed there and all the trips we went on were epic. We used to fish on an local boat out of Ishikawa or Awase if i recall correctly. BTW the boat shaped tackle store was there back then and I made many trips there myself.
awesome video haha maybe try target some oilfish that would be awesome like robson green. although i dont think sport fishing for ayus gonna b fun haha. maybe sightsee for some giant salamanders too that would be sick.
Patrick Harris honestly don’t know that much about it to answer your question intelligently. I’ve always just grabbed them based on weight to match the conditions. (Heavier for more current basically) no brands that I associate with
I would love to have been with you. Vid was great. Ryan have a very good Christmas and take care . Be safe. P.S....I'll trade you a smoked deer ham for a Mahi-Mahi fillet...lol
JunoRyan 40lbs OMG. Well good luck on ur next trip. By watching your past videos, you always catch monsters. 😄 Oh wait, u forgot to tell me if they catch crabs from land with snares out there?
I was wondering if you would find an Okinawian incarnation of the ubiquitous Florida "Head Boat", and quit dreaming about kings, macs and wahoo, they don't live there.
Really like your stuff and its making me think back to all those missed opportunities out there when I was drinking instead of fishing. Oh and check out my channel if yoy wany to see what awaits you at Camp Lejeune.
@@ahuis101 No, I'm a person who can read maps and understands that the current flows from Okinawa in the south to the northern islands where fukashima is Logic. Either you have or you dont
@@davidlevy9430 well for a person who thinks that they are logic let me ask a couple logic questions? What does knowing about maps and current flows have to do with the part that we are discussing radioactive reactors spewing huge amounts of waste till this day ? Do you have any idea of the destructive effects of radiation ? And yea current flows actually make it travel we had waves of it here in California.
ahuis101 my good sir let me help you out a little bit. Download google maps, and search up the location of Okinawa, a southern Japanese island. Then search up the location of Fukushima, a mainland prefecture about 1500 miles to the north. Yes, I’ve been there, I have collectively lived(and fished) there for about 2 years now. I have eaten plenty of these so called “radioactive” fish, and guess what? I don’t have breast cancer! Crazy isn’t it?
Killing 12 inch yellowfin tuna with the potential to grow older than the presenter and 3 times his weight is criminal. What did you do with all that fish? Scull dragging with an electric reel or manual reel is not fishing. It's spoilt brat greed. As an old fisherman, I can guarantee that your penis will not grow by killing bigger fish or more fish than the other guy. When you grow up, you'll see that catch what you can eat and release the rest is more rewarding. Just a little note, Okinawa is part of Japan; but the Okinawans are not ethnically Japanese and don't consider themselves as Japanese and speak their own language - Uchinaaguchi.
Waters around Japan are usually very deep. There are only so many retrieves from 800 ft to 2500 ft that a mans arms can take. Say what you want, but electric reels do have their place.
Gonna spend the next 6 months around the Mt. Fuji area on mainland Japan, what kind of videos do y’all want to see?
not sure if you are into cars. it would be sick to see some cool jdm cars
Maybe an ice fishing video. It should be freezing there this time of year.
Sharks??
Suruga Bay and Izu peninsula has some of the best fishing in Japan for variety. The underwater geography and currents make it ideal. Have fun!
Bottom fishing! Multi species
Ryan always finds some time to upload a video mad respect dude you fye af🔥
GG Castillo thanks my man

Rad Reeling Fishing Merry Christmas from 8000 miles away my friend
GREAT video!!!! I wished I had fished when I was stationed there!!! Semper Fi and keep the videos coming!!!
Heading to japan for my next deployment and this is the only thing I’m excited for 😂
Awesome video man!

South Florida Saltwater Fishing Welcome Aboard, Happy you liked the video! 🍻🎣
That's awesome. Never had any idea this was available when I was in Oki back in 99. Spent all my time drinking mojo at the bottom of Futenma
Eric Marroquin awesome! Thanks for the comment my man 🤙🏼
I'm in okinawa and do a lot of off shore fishing. It's awesome. We should fish sometime.
Fishing with japanese techniques ... amazing .. great
I used to fish there in the 90s when I was stationed there and all the trips we went on were epic. We used to fish on an local boat out of Ishikawa or Awase if i recall correctly. BTW the boat shaped tackle store was there back then and I made many trips there myself.

Nice caught! If you come to the Hiroshima area. I can take you out on a local Japanese charter boat in my area.
Keep rockin' out those vids my man! How do you find the time? Another great day!
Again, thank you for your service! 🇺🇸
Don Cooley thank you, just had a little more spare time with the holidays out here, been trying to make the most of it. 🤙🏼🍻🎣 tight lines my friend 🇺🇸
what's your favorite speed jig for blackfin, mackerel, and cobia in the gulf?

I haven't perused much of your videos, but do you fly fish at all?
How much did you guys paid? What’s the average price for a day ?
I would love to have been with you. Vid was great. Ryan have a very good Christmas and take care . Be safe. P.S....I'll trade you a smoked deer ham for a Mahi-Mahi fillet...lol
Rick Haught haha I would definitely take you up on that 🍻 my friend
Good bro...one greeting rod from indonesia
🤙🏼🎣
is braided line?
Getting in on those radioactive Fukushima fish I see.
Nowhere near Fukushima... Probably not even the same ocean
Dang 😱 That was a lot of fish. How big was that huge Mahi Mahi that you caught? Also, do they snare crabs from land there? (video idea)
Not too big, probably in the 15 pound range. I was hoping for one of the 40 ponders theyve been telling me they catch!
JunoRyan 40lbs OMG. Well good luck on ur next trip. By watching your past videos, you always catch monsters. 😄 Oh wait, u forgot to tell me if they catch crabs from land with snares out there?
Nice vid
Hey Ryan would you be able to compare the price for a similar trip in SE Fla to this trip in Okinawa? Thanx much +
May I ask, how much does it costs for a day trip like this bro?
Ronnie Shani about $120 dollars plus more if you want fish cleaning/ gear rental
I was wondering if you would find an Okinawian incarnation of the ubiquitous Florida "Head Boat", and quit dreaming about kings, macs and wahoo, they don't live there.
Great! what's the name of charter ?
Tough duty Ryan. How much are you paying the government to let you stay there? Don't think I'm jealous man, *know* I'm jealous.
John Leonard haha, gotta make the most out of every opportunity! 🤙🏼🍻
@@RyanMorie Absolutely! And you look to be doing just that. I look forward to a buncha vids from Okinawa & surrounding waters.

Nice video but sad to see tiny yft were kept instead of letting get bigger.
Mahi on boat = broken parts
Idk why people use fixed rods or electric reels, takes away everything whats fishing is about imo..
All that time not fishing Ryans gettin pretty rusty.
orbitalstarz always room for improvement!
💖💖👻👻👻
Have you heard of catch and release
Have you heard of eating fish?
Why are u laying down
radioactive fish i wouldnt eat them, fukashima is still going its like eating fish outta Chernobyl.. bad idea
What utter crap

@icewall flatearth then you may as well pull a net behind and claim that's your headcount
Electric reels are for ponces who don't know how to fish
