I have been crocheting since 1958 and I've never tried this technique . It's so beautiful and I think I will have to give it a try . Thank you for explaining in detail and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
I want to thank you for inspiring me to learn Irish Crochet techniques. You are the first one I found and since then I have experienced the art of creating beautiful things in Irish Lace. My first project was a lovely jacket for my best friend. I used the shape of a purchased pattern and formed the motifs and lace work to fit the pattern. My next project was designing snowflakes and creating a beautiful bedspread. My current project is making a jacket for myself. I absolutely LOVE this lace technique and hope to create more items in the future. Thank you so much for explaining and showing in a way I could understand.
Thank you so much. This is my first time attempting Irish Lace, but I got the tension just right on the 3rd try. It came out beautifully. My kitties enjoy playing with my first two tries. :) Over the years I've learned to switch right-handed tutorials, but thank you for showing a LEFTY tutorial. :)
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I have always love to look at lace. I grew up with out a person to pass this on to me with lovely ladies like you posting videos it's no longer out of reach. Thank you very much. I have 3 young girls hopefully I will have one that wants to learn.:)
Your tutorials are marvellous! Everything is explained so well that it wasn't difficult to go on continuously although you are a lefthander and I'm not. Thank you for that, and feel hugged for your kind encouragement :) I am always happy seeing a healthy lefthander. For some decades, lefthanded children were forced to use their right hand which caused rather more than less serious problems. Thank goddess those times of torment are over!
Awesome tutorial. Mine actually looked like yours for the most part. I have been crocheting for a while and have looked at this but never tried it. My niece is getting married and she wants the top of her gown in Irish Lace. Baptism by fire is always the best way to learn. You explain well and because you work left handed it is easier to see. A subscriber you have
Absolutely the best tutorial I have seen..I too am an avid crocheter for over 40 years and just recently decided to try different kinds of crochet and the history..I'd love to meet you. Thank you so much look forward to watching more if not all of your tutorials.
Very good tutorial. I don't see too many left handers on here showing how to do needlework. Now I see how it must be when all you left handers have to watch us right handers. Kind of backwards huh? You did a great job of showing how to do this. I am new to Irish Lace and hope to learn all I can. Thank you so much for taking the time to show how it is done.
Awesome! Despite the fact that I wasn't conscious that you were left-handed, it's easy to me understanding! You have opened the door to me for this fascinating craft. Thank you very much!
So beautifully explained. Simple and straight to the point. Thank you so much for this tutorial; I'm you subscriber now and looking forward to the new videos!
First off, love your video. Secondly, thank you SO much for not putting music to your video as several others have - I have found the music either distracting or just terrible to listen to when I am trying to learn. So I super appreciate your video and I have subscribed!
OMG I am now aware of how insanely difficult tutorials commonly found must be for left-handed people. I'm trying and trying to follow this as a right-hander and I keep screwing it up.... I was close to right a couple times I think, but then nope. I appreciate the tutorial and I'm going to keep working on this until I get it right. I think this is a good tutorial. This is my very first attempt at making Irish lace motifs so I may be a poor judge for more experienced crafters, but I think this is a wee bit difficult for first-timers to follow. This is me about to take a break and will come back and try it again..... :) Thank you. :)
Hi Melissa, I haven't realized that She is left hand; I am one of this club.I Had learnt how to crochet from my 4th level teacher and She was right hand. And for me never, ever being a left hand person, was a reason to not continuing crocheting. All my projects are from right hand people. Keep going, You will do it!!!
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! I did it!!!!!!!!!!! I started and restarted so many times as I could figure out how she kept ending up where she did. After going down the long tail with double crochets and coming back up with the two single crochets in the empty places we are to go allll the way back (which granted she does say in the tutorial, but we'd been working the loop almost separate from the long tail so I only went back up the tail..... and I never ended up where she did....... OK... Don't judge me! :) This was the very first piece I've made and I have no background in delicate arts like this. :) So now that I've begun.... let me find more! :) Thanks for the demonstration!

+Melissa Smith Congratulations Melissa!!! Never would judge anyone. Wow this is also my very very first time doing this but I haven't finished the scroll. Trying to get the sc over the cord to be same tension. Umm.. Mel.. is that you? You went to ELSS right? Can't believe we both ended up on this tutorial!! How awesome is that? wow.. small world! (yes .. this is Brenda Labelle) ;)
+Bg Labelle I'm not sure that we know each other.... but nice to meet you! :) :) ELSS?

+Melissa Smith :) I guess it is not you. ELSS Elliot Lake Secondary School. :) my friend has the exact same name as you. Nice to meet you too! LOL I am new at irish crochet but I have to say that I love it. just finishing up some other projects before jumping into this new hobby. I will try anything at least once. :) Let me know how you are coming along with your project. :):)
@@lacefromireland LOL I was just looking at those loops. annoying as I had done it so far without cutting the thread (I'm using UK double knit yarn as it's all I have) humm... have some kitchen string around, as it's only practice won't really matter if cord is different colour to yarn.
and done. it's about three times bigger but..... wonder if you can work off another ball for the core so you just pull off more as you need it? experiment!! but now I know how and just need to work on tension.
This looks so lovely, I hope I can get to this skill level someday :D A question if I may. What size thread would one use a 1.00 mm crochet hook? I accidentally got sent that one instead of the 1.5 mm I ordered, but I don't want it to just sit there collecting dust.
This has been not only.inspiring, but your explanations are wonderfully clear. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
So lovely to see a left hand stitcher. I have a book but no one to watch using the hook. Thank you for your tutorial.
Thank you for not only explaining this technique so simply but also showing it as you go along so we can follow it.
Thank you for not just showing but for telling us how to do it as well. You are a blessing.
I have been crocheting since 1958 and I've never tried this technique . It's so beautiful and I think I will have to give it a try . Thank you for explaining in detail and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Lovely creation. Gave me so much insights.. lots of love from a tiny island Sri Lanka

Wow! Thank you so much for making Irish lace tutorials. I've been wanting to learn for some time now but never could find any English tutorials.
Thank you! I'm going to try this....is was great to see a "lefty" demonstrating...I'm one too and usually I have to think in reverse!!
I am a right hander and had no trouble following you at all. I love this design simple but complex at the same time.

Gemini Dolly not really hard to follow for me and im right handed. i just do the same exact thing she does and it come out the same for me
Awesome! Despite the fact that I wasn't conscious that you were left-handed, it's easy to me understanding! You have opened the door to me for this fascinating craft. Thank you very much!

Yes you are left handed .been crochet for over 50 years, and just starting to learn Irish crocheting
I just realized ur left handed thank you Michelle UK
Danke :) Sehr gut erklärt. Gefällt mir!
damnit, I got the end of the 20 (about 9:15 time stamp) and run out of cord. so now either I start again or figure out how to add more cord
You can add more cord by passing thread through the loop at the end. I'm due to make another video tomorrow and I'll show you.
@@lacefromireland LOL I was just looking at those loops. annoying as I had done it so far without cutting the thread (I'm using UK double knit yarn as it's all I have) humm... have some kitchen string around, as it's only practice won't really matter if cord is different colour to yarn.
