To see Jeremy Brett again, wonderful!!! He made me fall in love with Sir Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes stories. I hate he lost his wife and then passed away himself. He was a great talent. I was a child when I first say these shows on PBS. I miss these type of productions. Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple with Joan Hickson, and John Thaw as Inspector Morse. BBC has given us a lot of great works.

Credit where credit correctly due, the Jeremy Brett Holmes series we’re all made by Granada (ITV) and Inspector Morse was made by Central (also ITV).

The best and definitive Miss Marple was Margaret Rutherford; no question, no debate.

The best actor to play 'Holmes' ...expressions, face...everything fits Sir Doyle's description.

I'm again struck by the masterful music written for these episodes, matching the Holmes theme to the tone and setting of each story.

Jeremy Brett was an amazing Sherlock Holmes. The look, the smirk and the way he conducts himself in his theories.

I miss these old tv shows. Hard to find them even on Netflix. Also liked the way they showed the young boys stand up straight and speak respectfully to grown men as though they themselves are also grown men. Nowadays little boys act like little girls because men do not address them as younger men anymore, its sad really. So many kids out there without fathers.

What a superb performance from Alan Howard....! Matches...perhaps even outdoes.. Jeremy
in their shared scenes. Two peerless actors in top form. Worth watching over and over for
    any aspiring drama students .

The Latin nerd in me got very excited at 0:33 when the headmaster/teacher addressed the pupils with "Salvete, discipuli!"
Thanks for posting these. I'm finding Brett to be a great Holmes :)

Must admit, this Holmes really catches his snobby superior to everyone attitude quite well.

Holmes was very bohmian and although well educated he "...loathed all forms with his whole bohemian soul."

@silentbob8201 I always though Burke had a "Holmes and I just had it off" look in his eyes. He was the silly, playful Watson... Hardwicke is the kind, avuncular kinda guy.
    Love them BOTH!

I dont know if it s just me but Burke's Watson seemed to have this dead behind hte eyes look about him where as Hardwicke seemed i dont know more Real.
