This is The Most Incredible Table Design Yet

  • In this video, I show you how I made the ultimate coffee table from a white oak cookie, a sewing machine base, lava resin, and dimples. It was one of the most challenging and rewarding projects I have ever done, and I want to share with you the whole process, from start to finish.
    You will see how I got a 33" white oak cookie when it crushed a car in town, and how I cleaned it, sanded it, and filled the cracks with red lava resin. You will also see how I stumbled upon a vintage sewing machine base on the street, and how I restored it and attached it to the wood slab. And you will see how I added some dimples to the resin to create a unique texture and look.
    But it was not all smooth sailing. I faced many issues along the way, such as resin leaks, bubbles, cracks, and equipment problems. I had to improvise, experiment, and learn from my mistakes. I also had to use various tools and techniques, such as a router, a blowtorch, a CNC, a chisel, and epoxy.
    I hope you enjoy watching this video as much as I enjoyed making it. If you do, please give it a thumbs up, leave a comment, and subscribe to my channel for more DIY projects. And if you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to let me know. Thanks for watching!

    I love your comment about those individuals who feel it necessary to leave comments about what you're doing wrong. Actually, I like those of you who post your entire video without edits, wrong or right, especially when it comes to resin. Anyone who works with resin knows that 7 out of every 10 projects has something go wrong. It's not about the "wrongs" it's about what you do with it in the end to make it come out "right". Thanks! And your project is awesome!

      Haha, thanks. It's not as dark as it looks on video. You can see the dimples well. I did some testing on making the dimple on the CNC and I just couldn't get them right. But yes I sure could have used it.

    Looks great!
    Just curious why you didn't use the cnc for the dimples?

      @MoonpieCreations  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess I could have, but there is a great chance I would ruin the piece as my CNC skills can be less than Steller.

    Hello Ken, great work. Just curious, though: is there a reason you opted not to use the CNC to make the dimples? It would probably have been less stressful.

    • @MoonpieCreations
      @MoonpieCreations  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I tried a few test cuts for the dimples and I just couldn't get it to work well. My skills on the CNC aren't great and designing cuts even worse. lol I have a plan for another cookie and the CNC. I'm hoping I can find the time to try it and maybe I can even pull it off.

      I see. You'll get there, and I'm sure the result will be worth the learning process.

    Now for another table from another cookie……..fill cracks with copper color resin, then drill shallow holes and stick a shiny new penny in each hole. Finish with resin.

      Neat Idea......what do you think about something similar except I lay the pennies flat and have a top of pennies? I could cut out an insert in the top. Now you got my thoughts going.

      My son made the floor of his basement bar of pennies that were close packed and then just poured resin over them.

    The corrugated cardboard that you used has a plastic coating on it doesn’t it 10:52 ??? If you used regular paper-like cardboard, would it soak up the resin and leak through(just asking because i am curious as a fellow crafter and product creator; not trying to judge or demean in any way)???

    • @MoonpieCreations
      @MoonpieCreations  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does have a plastic coating. You can use regular cardboard but you have to put some sort of film on it such as Tyvek tape.
