Honestly its really disappointing how bad this has gotten.. Legit the day before the removal of the demo I actually planned to pay for patreon, but then once the demo was banned a whole can of worms oppened (racism, doxing, greed, etc.). This whole thing feels like if yandere dev was more greedy and malicious.
And it sucks because the addon is so well made and amazing but it's held back by it's asshole creator. The addon should've been on the workshop for free at the start and also open sourced so that way it can be expanded upon and not seen as malicious

Already from start I felt like beatrun mod was kinda fishy. Workshop rules basicly says that if mod costs money then its violating the rules of steam workshop. But the creator got around that by making it a "patreon project" so he can get money from younger audience that plays gmod
Datae is also obviously 100% wrong to leak someones private IP address (without them knowing) and posting on a site, i find it funny even after with the backlash the site is still up and the only way to stop him is if everyone just stop buying datae's patreon

I heard about this on comments for a parkour mod and I recently started to uninstall vmanip and stuff because I got scared for my privacy no clue if the steam workshop checks mods for malicious code though

I remember following beatrun around its first few showcases and also remember datae being pretty solid on some questions on the mod, specifically on questions if the mod was gonna be paid, which most of which i remember always had a pretty strict "No, it wont" to them or for a early access sort've deal (As we now know, was total BS as the mod was paid anyway post EA), but what ive found most interesting recently was watching back on them, is no matter what, i cant find a single one of those comments or replies, or if i do, its either a edited, deleted, or missing a reply (An @ on a now deleted comment) talking specifically to datae, and of course beatruns official demo, which i've found that its DRM that's designed to stop you from playing the mode if you failed to follow a specific thing (Joining the group etc) and of course stopped EU players, But it had a third function, testing with a friend after the demo expired and not even having the mode loaded we found it would cease all of gmods operations past starting LUA phase since DRM would load and crash the game even if joining a server that didnt run it, forcing you to manually uninstall in order to play, mind you, there is no way of properly uninstalling it, once its there its there you either suck it up and reinstall the entire game and deal with the issue that causes, or just remember what files were added or replaced and delete them then verify and pray it works or be glad you had backups of the original files

First Glue Library and now this fiasco, GMod addon creators need to be like me since I made the BSMod addon and it's free for anyone to use and anyone can modify it however they like

Since you made your addon free for modification, they simply modded their problems away.

Damn that really sucks since I used to use the addon myself and loved it, now I can't use it anymore since it says the demo has expired and crashes your game if you try to load into a map with it. This also reminds me of the whole Glue Library incident where the creator updated their addon to show everyone goatse cause they were mad about an update. Now you might know me for creating the BSMod addon and what I have to say is why can't GMod addon creators be like y'know actual addon creators and not literal pieces of shit. My BSMod addon is on the workshop for free and anyone can use and modify it however they want, like every GMod addon should be

Can he see your ip address only if you downloaded the mod to your computer or can also see your ip address when u enter his website even if you don't have the mod or not gonna download it ?
Any website you visit online will see your IP address, as does the apps you use. Without a VPN to mask your activity, you should consider everything you do online public. In this case, Datae seems to have only stored people's IP if they pirated his mod, but I don't know if he stores the IP addresses of people who visit his website; but he can see them if you connect to it.

A group of Ukrainian guys are working on cracking beatrun. I won't link the site, but it ain't hard to find. It's available and I've vetted the code. Nothing shady.

sorry if this is worrying information but the demo also apparently includes the ip tracker, though it's not like he can do much with your ip so you shouldn't worry much about it, i definetly hope the guy gets sued into the ground because this is seriously illegal.
