    The bird is not a Robin.

      It's European robin, Known simply as robin or robin redbreast.

      No robin I"ve ever seen would go near it. They are ledge nesters and avoid enclosed spaces.

    Templates are great, if your making for neighbours.. Get them out draw around, and your off

    Nice project, I am not that keen on mute video clips, I like to hear the thought process of the build throughout, or you're really just guessing what you're doing and why you're doing it that way.
    But well done.

    • @massoudmakes
      @massoudmakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wasn't guessing, this build was based on Simon King's design but he didn't show the build so I decided to figure out the parts to make it and show the build process.

    You cannot hide a robin's nest from cats! They will find it...unless your yard is cat proof, which is impossible.

    • @massoudmakes
      @massoudmakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not hiding it from the cats, it's the robins that don't like their nest exposed. I know cats will always find the nest box so it's design will hopefully make it more difficult for the cat's paws to reach the chicks.

    • @chevyman5135
      @chevyman5135 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@massoudmakes OK, now I understand about the cats not getting their paws into the nest. I like working with pallet wood and am now (this spring) going to make a nest box with your design. Thanks and good job!

    • @massoudmakes
      @massoudmakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have problem with cats, you can fix it a bit higher up but not too high, less than two meters. Good luck with the build.

    • @chevyman5135
      @chevyman5135 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@massoudmakes OK. I know pallet boards are 3 1/2" or 3 1/4" wide. I'm wondering if they make a big enough box. Wouldn't old fence boards 5 1/2" wide be better?

    • @massoudmakes
      @massoudmakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I noticed robins nested in our neighbours garden at about the same height as mine. I couldn't fix it higher as I wanted the tree branches to cover the nest enterance.

    Great box . Placed so that a cat can get at it without any exerction.

    • @massoudmakes
      @massoudmakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tree branches and ivy covers the entrance to the porch which make it more difficult for the cats. The only other way is for the cat to jump on the roof of the box and that can be solved with some spikes.

    WHY sand the inside Robins dont go round sanding the inside of trees when they nest the roughness helps the young birds climb out when fledging

    • @chevyman5135

      camo netting around the box. They will definitely nest there i also put a handful of moss in the entrance
