    Something that doesnt get talked about enough - is the age of your strings. After a few weeks use, poly strings lose their elasticity and become much harsher on your arm - this is particulalry true in spin orientated rackets. It really important to get your racket restrung regularly if you have arm issues - or play with softer string like multi or gut if you can't get passed your issues.

    i got back to tennis this year and after demoing a lot of racquets i decided to go with the head gravity s. after at least 25 years of not playing i enjoy tennis now with my son. as i am in my mid 40s and not trained well the gravity s seems to be an excellent choice as i like the feel and the extra bit of power to help me with the pace of the ball. from all racquets i tested i also liked the head speed team and the wilson clash 100l. i guess my favorite sticks are all at around 300g strung at the moment. 🙂

    For the record: I had a bad tear of the pronator teres muscle after serving a lot with a stiff racquet. The racquet also made my shoulder sore, but it was tolerable. But serving with the stiff racquet, basically my forearm muscle just pop and it took 2 months of deep tissue work to get my arm back. After that, I finally settled on the Gravity Tour. And while I'd love to use an Ezone or a Pure Aero for the serving power, the Gravity Tour does everything I need and I never ache. I also own a Gravity Pro, which doesn't hurt my arm, but is too heavy, and I've really enjoyed the Extreme Tour. Basically Head's 360+ tech seems very gentle on the body.

      I'm similar. Bought a Pure Aero. Loved hitting with it, but it wrecked my arm. Then got a Head Gravity Pro, brilliant feel, but it's just too heavy. Then got Gravity Pro and settled on that. Still, when I hit for 5 mins with my Pure Aero just for fun, I'm better much with it. Better timing, effortless power and more accuracy. I think that's because I bought a lighter version, but then, light + stiff = pain for me. I'd love to try the Vcore 97HD. Sounds amazing, but think for me it will be like Gravity Pro - just a bit too heavy. If anyone has any experience her I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

      hey, I'd love to talk about your injury as I am in the exact same situation. I used a very light beginner racket for 3 months then my uncle gave me a head 300gr Head instinct light racket. After playing with it for 15 days, one day I literally fucked my elbow up while serving. According to my doctor, it's not a tennis elbow but some kind of small injury. After 45 days, when my injury had almost gone, with my doctor's permission I tried playing with it but 3 days after playing it relapsed and made me miserable. Now I am planning to buy a new racket. I don't know what's the problem. My racket is heavy and headlight. So what's causing my elbow pain?

    • @petershort936
      @petershort936 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yep9674 The Head Instinct is just not a very good racquet, regardless of pain. Step away from that. I think you need to demo a number of racquets under 65RA with soft strings. My suggestion would be to use multifilament strings for a while before graduating to soft poly strings. Technifibre has a lot of good Nylon hybrid offerings. Multifeel is a good option. I would also try and stay around the 305 gram range of racquets...lot of good options these days, particularly with 98" heads. The Gravity line, 100", is still a good option, particularly the MP and Tour.
      Start by demo-ing the Blade 98 v8 16/19. It's a great all-around racquet with a low RA. You need to take your time, as well, and maybe consider some lessons for improving technique.

    I have a damaged elbow from playing years ago with dead strings and an extended index finger on my forehand grip. I'm considering elbow surgery as the problem is getting worse. The following racquets in my experience are the best for tennis elbow: 1. Prince Phantom 100 with the "O" ports; 2. Head MicroGel Radical Oversize; 3. ProKennex Black Ace 300/315. I have not played with the Clash and cannot comments on it but am considering buying the version 1 oversize (Clash 108 v1). Unfortunately, the Prince Phantom 107G oversize has not been available for sale for several months and I have not been able to purchase one. Two racquets that I cannot recommend are the Head Radical S (I have a graphene touch version) and the Head Gravity Lite. Both need to be strung with a multifilament like Head Velocity to improve comfort but ultimately, I found both to be too light in weight to absorb shock. Meantime, as I am a senior player, if I opt out of the surgery then I will as a last resort refrain from hitting the ball hard with topspin and instead become a dinker, slicer and dicer. I may also retire my 1-handed backhand and try to learn a 2-handed backhand to reduce wear and tear on my dominant arm / elbow. My last option is to hit 2-handed off both sides. I am disappointed that the majority of oversize and super-oversize racquets on the market are so light that they do not sufficiently absorb shock.

    I cannot agree that Clash 100 is an arm friendly choice. It is light overall, especially super headlight racket. Headlight racket which is light overall is a recipe for tennis elbow. Moreover Clash 100 unstable and resonate too much. I played with it 4 month and had tennis elbow almost constantly even with multifilament strings. As I switched to Blade 98 v7 soreness disappeared immediately. It is much more stable, do not vibrate and resonate too much and not as light and headlight as Clash. Clash has low stiffness rating (RA) and considered to be good for arm because of that number, but in reality many people miss that if you use light headlight racket you’re pretty much asking for tennis elbow.

      I met the German aircraft engineer Roland Summer, who designed the Kinetic tech and licensed to Pro Kennex, in the mid 90s. He told me of the story of how he solved the problem of manufacturing the Kinetic idea when he got a headache. After working for months to figure out a way to get these tiny beads inside the racquet without any luck, he said his head hurt! So he went to the medicine cabinet and got a Contac...a plastic capsule full of tiny little beads of medicine! The Kinetic was born. That’s how the beads are inside the racquet...it’s like a plastic strip of contac capsules.
      After he told me this story, I showed him the first prototypes of the BOLT racquet suspension system. He said it would be the most amazing racquet if it could ever be made but considering the difficulty he had getting beads in the racquet, spring suspension on the string bed could never be done. I was inspired by his words and I stuck with it and now it has been done. Unlike any racquet to come before it, spring suspension is here. The BOLTs are the new standard, even Roland Summer saw it coming! For info go to boltracquetlab.com. Get a demo at boltadvance.com.

As someone who played with a few of their rackets growing up I really want to see them step up to claim their place among the bigger brands where they certainly could be.

      I recently bought the yellow Ki Q+5 300g that Jonas recently tested and have been playing with it a couple of times a week over the last 6 weeks or so. It has helped reduce my forearm and elbow soreness enormously so mission accomplished in that regard. The tech genuinely seems to work!
      However I sincerely hope that Pro Kennex can get someone new to do the graphics of their racquets because mine looks hideous; hardly surprising they don't sell many. 'Race car' styling indeed... please explain what genius approved that - what's that got to do with tennis? It looks ridiculous compared to the Head, Wilson, Yonex and Babolats of this world. If I keep mine, it'll be repainted over the winter.

    As always, your videos are both super professional and super useful. Thanks for doing what you do. Another Very nice racquet that has great feel and is easy on the arm because of its excellent weight distribution and balance (without modification) is the Wilson nCode nBlade 98 18x20. Good with a soft poly like Volkl Cyclone Tour 16g ar 48 pounds. It can be had on the Bay for under $100 and currently as low as $69. Another nice frame for comfort and feel is the Wilson Kfactor Kblade Team 104. Kfactor racquets can be more stiff, so this can be offset by stringing with a nice, budget multi like Head Velocity MLT at 53 pounds (the lowest recommended tension on the racquet).

    The cause of tennis elbow is almost always bad technique. Stiff rackets just make it worse. The majority of the trouble tends to be poor preparation, which leads to consequent issues--gripping too hard, trying to accelerate the racquet instantaneiousy instead of smoothly, pulling the head, etc. Equipment is unlikely to hurt you if your technique is clean.
